Installers are currently unsigned. Each release provides a .sha256 file so you can verify the download before running it.
GitHub download speeds can be unreliable in mainland China. A common workaround is a community mirror proxy: prefix the release URL with the mirror host, for example:

Mirror proxies are third-party community services — availability is not guaranteed by this project, and you should still verify the .sha256 after downloading. The Microsoft Store and in-app update channels are alternatives that do not depend on GitHub.
- x64 — almost all Intel and AMD PCs.
- ARM64 — native Windows on ARM devices (Snapdragon laptops, Surface Pro X).
Check Settings → System → About → System type if unsure. Both packages are Full Native AOT builds that bundle the matching private Windows App Runtime 2.4 and install offline.
- Windows 10 version 21H2 (build 19044) or later; Windows 11 22H2 or later for the full visual treatment.
- x64 or ARM64 processor matching the installer.
- Windows App Runtime 2.4 — included in all current installers; no separate .NET runtime is needed.
On Windows 10, unsupported materials, rounded corners, and some animations automatically fall back to compatible visuals.
- Install: per-user by default (no admin elevation required). Overinstalling preserves app settings, widget configuration, and managed storage. Older administrator-level installations under Program Files are migrated automatically.
- Update: check for updates inside the app (with long-form release notes, retry, and a website fallback). The visible installer runs after DeskBox closes; upgrades reuse and lock the existing installation path instead of creating a second copy.

Uninstall: you choose whether to keep or permanently remove application data. User files inside the managed storage path are always preserved. Permanent removal clears
%LocalAppData%\DeskBox,%LocalAppData%\DeskBox-Recovery, temporary files, and DeskBox-owned registration data.

安装包当前未做数字签名。每个版本附带 .sha256 校验文件，建议运行前先校验。
中国大陆直连 GitHub 下载可能较慢。常用做法是使用社区镜像代理：在 Release 链接前加上镜像域名前缀，例如：

镜像代理为第三方社区服务，本项目不保证其可用性；下载后仍请核对 .sha256。Microsoft Store 和应用内更新是不依赖 GitHub 的替代渠道。
- x64 —— 几乎所有 Intel / AMD 电脑。

Windows 10 上不受支持的材质、圆角和部分动画会自动降级为兼容视觉效果。
- 安装： 默认按当前用户安装（无需管理员权限）。覆盖安装会保留应用设置、格子配置和托管存储；早期安装在 Program Files 的管理员级版本会自动迁移。
- 更新： 在应用内检查更新（支持完整版本说明、失败重试、跳转官网）。DeskBox 退出后运行可见的安装器；升级复用并锁定现有安装路径，不会产生第二份副本。

卸载： 可选择保留或彻底删除应用数据；托管存储路径中的用户文件始终保留。彻底删除会清空
