theebest.com Developer Color Themes

Website License Themes

51 hand-tuned, WCAG-contrast-checked developer color themes - dark and light - for VS Code, iTerm2, Windows Terminal, Alacritty, Kitty, Ghostty, WezTerm, base16 / base24, Gogh, Warp, and 20+ more terminals and editors. Designed and maintained at theebest.com.

Browse every theme with a live terminal + editor preview and one-click export at www.theebest.com/themes.

This repository is the open-source home of the collection: 51 themes across 82 generated variants (31 ship both a dark and a light mode; 12 are light-only). Each theme carries a full 16-color ANSI terminal palette, nine syntax-highlighting roles, and core editor UI colors, so it looks deliberate in your shell, your editor, and your TUIs alike.

Why these themes

  • Genuinely developer-first. Every palette is tuned for code: a full 16-color ANSI set, readable comments, and syntax roles that map cleanly onto real grammars - not a website palette bolted onto a terminal.
  • Accessible by default. Foreground/background pairings are checked for WCAG contrast in both dark and light modes.
  • One source, every tool. The same theme is generated into each ecosystem's native format, so Midnight Arcade in VS Code matches Midnight Arcade in your terminal.
  • Free and open. Apache-2.0 licensed. Use them, fork them, ship them.

Install

VS Code, Cursor, and VSCodium

Search "theebest" in the Extensions view (Marketplace + Open VSX listing rolling out), or load from source now by copying the vscode/ folder into your editor's extensions directory and reloading the window:

git clone https://github.com/TriumphInteractive/theebest-themes.git
cp -r theebest-themes/vscode ~/.vscode/extensions/theebest-themes # VS Code
cp -r theebest-themes/vscode ~/.cursor/extensions/theebest-themes # Cursor
cp -r theebest-themes/vscode ~/.vscode-oss/extensions/theebest-themes # VSCodium

Then open the Command Palette -> Preferences: Color Theme and pick any theebest theme.

iTerm2 and 20+ terminals

The files in iterm2-color-schemes/yaml/ are the source format used by the iTerm2-Color-Schemes project, which regenerates Alacritty, Kitty, Ghostty, WezTerm, Windows Terminal, and more. Import the .itermcolors/terminal file for your app, or grab the ready-made export for your terminal from www.theebest.com/themes.

base16 / base24

Point any tinted-theming builder at tinted-theming/base16/ or tinted-theming/base24/ to render the theme into 70+ supported applications.

Gogh

Apply any theme from gogh/themes/ with Gogh on a supported Linux terminal.

Warp

Copy any file from warp/ into ~/.warp/themes/ and select it in Warp's theme picker.

Windows Terminal

Merge the schemes from windows-terminal/theebest-themes.json into your settings.json "schemes" array, then set "colorScheme" on a profile.
