Open Forest Design System
This project uses the Open Forest Design System--the Forest Service's own brand of the US Web Design System (USWDS). The design system describes the visual language, using UI elements and style guidelines, upon which Open Forest applications can be built. Our design system starts with the US Web Design System, which is maintained by GSA's Technology Transformation Service and recommended by the the 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act (IDEA), extends the USWDS to meet the needs of Open Forest.
When the 18F working on this E&IU team creates new components to meet needs not currently covered by the existing design system, these components will be usability tested and accessibility tested, and then added to the design system.
