Switcher3way 1.2.0

@WhisKeySwitch WhisKeySwitch released this 28 Jul 12:32

Feature release: smarter handling of words that exist in both Ukrainian and Russian, and a fix for fast-typing text corruption.

New

  • Ambiguous words now convert. Words valid in both Ukrainian and Russian («добре», «там») used to be left as wrong-layout gibberish. They now convert to the language for ambiguous words (Settings → Auto-fix: Ukrainian by default, Russian, or Do not convert to keep the old behavior).
  • Phrase self-correction. Auto-fix remembers the phrase you're typing. If a later word is valid in only one language, the earlier ambiguous words are re-converted to that language together with it — one replacement, undoable with a single trigger tap. Phrases mixing clearly-Ukrainian and clearly-Russian words are never touched retroactively.
  • The manual trigger offers the same preferred-language candidate first.

Fixed

  • Fast typing no longer corrupts text. If you kept typing while an automatic conversion was being applied, its backspaces could erase your fresh characters mid-phrase («Добре, що є прогрес» could end up as «Lj,ht? oДобре,прес )»). Conversion now aborts instantly when you keep typing, restores anything it already erased, and switches the layout only after a successful replacement.

Install

Download Switcher3way-1.2.0.dmg, open it, and drag Switcher3way into Applications. First launch on a new Mac: right-click the app → Open (unnotarized). Existing installs get this update in-app.

Feature release: Switcher3way can now update itself.

New

  • In-app software updates — the app checks this releases page shortly after launch and once a day (Settings → General → "Check for updates automatically", on by default; manual check via menu → Check for Updates…). New versions are offered in a dialog: Install and Relaunch downloads the DMG, verifies its checksum and code-signing identity, replaces the app, and relaunches — Accessibility/Input Monitoring permissions are preserved. Later re-asks on the next check; Skip This Version silences that version.
  • Privacy: the update check is the app's only network access — a GET to GitHub for the latest release, nothing about you or your typing. Detection/conversion remain fully local.

Install

Download Switcher3way-1.1.0.dmg, open it, and drag Switcher3way into Applications. First launch on a new Mac: right-click the app → Open (unnotarized). From this version onward, future updates arrive in-app.

Switcher3way 1.0.2

@WhisKeySwitch WhisKeySwitch released this 22 Jul 09:15

Bug-fix release for the manual trigger on selected text.

Fixes

  • Selection conversion is now N-way — selecting words left in the wrong layout and hitting the trigger converts them to the correct language on the first tap (dictionary-first); repeated taps cycle the remaining layouts and then restore the original text and layout. Previously the selection toggled between just two forms while the layout cycled through three, so it could take three taps and appear to "stay in Latin".
  • The source layout is inferred from the selected text itself, so conversion works even when auto-switching left a different layout active.

Install

Download Switcher3way-1.0.2.dmg, open it, and drag Switcher3way into Applications. First launch on a new Mac: right-click the app → Open (unnotarized). Grant Accessibility + Input Monitoring in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

@WhisKeySwitch WhisKeySwitch released this 20 Jul 14:37

macOS menu-bar app that auto-fixes wrong-layout typing across English, Ukrainian, and Russian.

Bug-fix release for automatic layout detection

  • Attached punctuation no longer blocks conversion (Привет!, (привет), текст.); words whose letters sit on punctuation keys (б ю ж э х ъ ё) also convert now.
  • Punctuation keys re-render in the target layout — the / key correctly becomes . on the Russian/Ukrainian PC layouts.
  • Short words convert — minimum word length lowered from 3 to 2, so hi / ми / ще are handled. Single letters stay excluded.
  • Manual trigger inherits the same punctuation-aware detection.

Install

Download Switcher3way-1.0.1.dmg, open it, and drag Switcher3way into Applications. First launch on a new Mac: right-click the app → Open (unnotarized). Grant Accessibility + Input Monitoring in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

@WhisKeySwitch WhisKeySwitch released this 23 Jul 07:26

Switcher3way for Windows — 0.1.1 (preview)

Auto-fixes the keyboard layout as you type across English, Ukrainian, and Russian — the same precision-first, N-way engine as the macOS app.

New in 0.1.1

  • In-app updates. Switcher3way now checks this page daily (and on demand via the tray menu → Check for Updates…) and offers a one-click Install and Relaunch when a newer build is out — parity with the macOS app. Toggle it in Settings → Advanced. Downloads are verified against the published SHA-256 before installing.

(0.1.0 already included the 16-language UI and the built-in offline Help.)

Install

  1. Download Switcher3way-0.1.1-win-x64.msi below.
  2. Double-click it and approve the User Account Control prompt (per-machine install).
  3. This preview isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn — click More info → Run anyway.
  4. Launch Switcher3way from the Start menu; it lives in the system tray (the flag icon shows the current layout). From here, future updates are one-click.

Requirements: Windows 10/11, 64-bit. No .NET install needed — the runtime is bundled (~55 MB download).

Known limitations (preview)

  • Unsigned → SmartScreen warning on first run (see step 3). Updates verify by SHA-256 over HTTPS.
  • x64 only (no arm64 build yet).
  • Won't rewrite text inside elevated/administrator windows unless the app itself runs as administrator.

@WhisKeySwitch WhisKeySwitch released this 23 Jul 06:24

Switcher3way for Windows — 0.1.0 (preview)

The first Windows build of Switcher3way: it auto-detects the language of what you type and fixes the keyboard layout across English, Ukrainian, and Russian — the same precision-first, N-way engine as the macOS app, ported to Win32.

Install

  1. Download Switcher3way-0.1.0-win-x64.msi below.
  2. Double-click it and approve the User Account Control prompt (per-machine install).
  3. Because this preview is not yet code-signed, Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC / unknown publisher". Click More info → Run anyway. (An OV/EV signing certificate to remove this is on the roadmap.)
  4. Launch Switcher3way from the Start menu. It lives in the system tray (the flag icon shows the current layout).

Requirements: Windows 10/11, 64-bit. No .NET install needed — the runtime is bundled (self-contained, ~55 MB download).

What's included

  • Automatic layout fixing across EN/UK/RU as you type, with a manual trigger (default F9; double-Shift and others selectable in Settings).
  • System-tray flag indicator that follows the live layout.
  • Tabbed Settings, a unified/searchable exceptions manager, per-app layout memory, pause, and an opt-in debug log.
  • UI localized in 16 languages (follows the system language; overridable in Settings → General).
  • Built-in offline Help (User Guide in EN/UK/RU) — Help in the tray menu.

Known limitations (preview)

  • Unsigned → SmartScreen warning on first run (see step 3).
  • x64 only for now (no arm64 build yet).
  • Won't rewrite text inside elevated/administrator windows unless the app itself is run as administrator (Windows security boundary).
  • Windows has no auto-update yet (the in-app updater is macOS-only); check this page for new builds.
