Wombat v0.3.6

This release keeps local indexing ready in the background and makes focused usage reviews and original-evidence reads faster.

Highlights

  • Managed installation starts a resident local indexer. Recent activity is prepared in the background, then file notifications and periodic discovery keep committed views current. Pause, resume and inspect the service through the CLI or Web.
  • Prepare the recent 30 days by default and load older history when requested. Persist parser recovery state and bound reusable caches to reduce repeated work after restart.
  • Reuse committed usage views for compact daily, model, project and task summaries. Combine related queries against one fixed view, then inspect only the selected tasks or turns.
  • Locate or search conversation evidence, then read selected text in bounded batches. The Codex Skill now carries filters and continuation details through the workflow and bases improvement suggestions on specific recorded evidence.

Install or update

macOS and Linux:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YannByte/wombat/main/scripts/install/install.sh | sh

Windows PowerShell:

& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YannByte/wombat/main/scripts/install/install.ps1)))

Update an installer-managed copy:

wombat update --check
wombat update

Supported archives: darwin-arm64, darwin-x64, linux-x64, linux-arm64, win32-x64.

Known limitations

  • Codex is the only production data source in this release; support for other agents is planned.
  • Recent preparation covers the default 30-day window. Historical requests can require additional preparation. Missing, deferred, partial and unpriced results remain explicit.
  • Background indexing and cache limits do not impose a hard process-memory ceiling. Initial preparation, large source catch-up and detail requests can still use substantial memory and temporary disk space.
  • Measured warm complete CLI requests met a 100 ms P95 target on the local acceptance corpus. Cold requests and individual outliers can exceed 100 ms; this is not a per-request latency guarantee.
  • The 24-hour resident workload qualification and native user-session manager acceptance on Linux and Windows remain separate acceptance work. macOS crash recovery and pause/resume were tested locally; generated service definitions alone do not prove login-startup behavior.
  • Original-text access supports selected message mappings and text parts. Unknown mappings, non-text content and delta-stream assembly remain explicit gaps; there is no transcript panel in the Web dashboard.
  • Conversation reads verify selected source text blocks and reject changed, replaced, missing or unavailable sources. A successful snippet does not prove that the complete source file is unchanged. Changes require a valid fixed baseline and do not establish additional work or savings.
  • API costs are estimates. Unpriced or partial data stays explicit and is separate from subscription allowance.
  • Unsupported derived index and parser-cache formats require a rebuild. Existing data is not migrated or automatically deleted. Follow the documented format recovery and preserve user decisions; a different WOMBAT_DATA_HOME does not transfer them.
  • Timing describes recorded activity and can be partial or provisional. It does not establish why work was slow, code quality, token savings, or model performance.
  • A sharing summary removes direct identifiers but does not guarantee anonymity. Preview it before sharing.
  • Native Codex plugin discovery and Hook registration require a compatible local Codex. Windows Hook collection remains unverified.

Verification and security

All five archives were built and exercised on their target platforms from commit cb8319b34a4a24991c7c024c2e71ad201714223c. Installers and updates verify the published size and SHA-256 digest before switching versions. GitHub provides build provenance attestations for the platform archives. Wombat reads local sources without changing them; network behavior and native handoff follow the documented privacy boundaries.

Wombat v0.3.5

This release adds bounded access to recorded Codex activity and original conversation evidence for daily work reports and follow-up questions.

Highlights

  • Find recorded activity by date, project, task or turn, including observations without Token usage records. Keep recorded activity separate from verified completed work.
  • Locate user and assistant messages, or inspect messages around a recorded tool operation. Read selected original text in bounded batches with context and continuation; conversation bodies stay out of the index.
  • Search literal text within selected tasks or projects and continue unfinished scans. Compare fixed views to identify new files, appended observations and changed source generations.
  • Use the same generated conversation contract through the Agent CLI and authorized Web API. The Codex Skill combines activity and selected text with usage facts to support daily work reports.

Install or update

macOS and Linux:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YannByte/wombat/main/scripts/install/install.sh | sh

Windows PowerShell:

& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YannByte/wombat/main/scripts/install/install.ps1)))

Update an installer-managed copy:

wombat update --check
wombat update

Supported archives: darwin-arm64, darwin-x64, linux-x64, linux-arm64, win32-x64.

Known limitations

  • Codex is the only production data source in this release; support for other agents is planned.
  • Original-text access supports selected message mappings and text parts. Unknown mappings, non-text content and delta-stream assembly remain explicit gaps; there is no new transcript panel in the Web dashboard.
  • This release changes derived event, message-observation and source-watermark formats. Older indexes require a rebuild and are preserved without migration or automatic deletion. Follow the documented format recovery and preserve user decisions. A different WOMBAT_DATA_HOME creates an isolated store; it does not repair the old store or transfer its decisions.
  • Timing describes recorded activity and can be partial or provisional. It does not establish why work was slow, code quality, token savings, or model performance.
  • A sharing summary removes direct identifiers but does not guarantee anonymity. Preview it before sharing.
  • First rebuilding and ordinary source catch-up can still use substantial memory and temporary disk space. The aggregate cache limit is not a process-memory ceiling, and full replay or large detail requests remain expensive. Persisting aggregates also adds write work.
  • Complete requests on the measured real corpus still exceeded 100 ms. Repeated compact requests can be faster, but the strict latency target remains unfinished.
  • Native Codex plugin discovery and Hook registration require a compatible local Codex. Windows Hook collection remains unverified.

Verification and security

All five archives were built and exercised on their target platforms from commit 8b5ba6e41c1676369d296a2eb32759e53e433c45. Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Wombat v0.3.4

This maintenance release improves focused Codex Skill answers, keeps follow-ups on the selected evidence, and clarifies local access failures.

Highlights

  • Ask focused questions about usage, estimated costs, turn durations, task distributions, budgets, and account allowance. The Skill selects the relevant workflow and keeps simple answers concise.
  • Continue with the selected task and saved view when changing dates or projects. Authorized configuration edits preserve existing navigation and keep user decisions separate from recheck results.
  • Get an explicit local-access error and recovery guidance when process or service permissions block a query. Usable results remain available when another section fails.
  • Avoid redundant ledger and event reads during usage investigations. Configuration follow-ups also reuse their selected read view instead of repeating discovery and scans.

Install or update

macOS and Linux:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YannByte/wombat/main/scripts/install/install.sh | sh

Known limitations

  • Codex is the only production data source in this release; support for other agents is planned.
  • API costs are estimates. Unpriced or partial data stays explicit and is separate from subscription allowance.
  • Older unsupported indexes can return INDEX_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION and are preserved without migration or automatic deletion.

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 06:08
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Wombat v0.3.3

This maintenance release adds verified GPT-6.1 Sol prices so first installations and offline queries can calculate its standard API-equivalent costs.

Highlights

  • Calculate GPT-6.1 Sol input, cache-read, cache-write, and output costs using its own verified prices, including whole-request rates above the 272K input boundary.
  • Use the bundled prices without a network download. Ordinary live queries retain automatic official-price updates when eligible rates are missing; offline and fixed-snapshot queries remain offline.
  • Keep previously saved snapshot prices unchanged. Unknown request lengths, unverified model names, and unsupported providers remain explicit rather than borrowing another model's prices.

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 00:59
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Wombat v0.3.2

This maintenance release reduces derived-index storage and cached-view memory while preserving exact accounting and historical evidence.

Highlights

  • Read usage summaries and task rankings from exact persisted aggregates. Historical measurements and operation details load on demand; the recent 30-day aggregate cache has a byte limit even during heavy usage.
  • Keep historical accounting and supported evidence available after source logs disappear. Fixed views retain their own committed facts and prices, including late results and corrections.
  • Reduce repeated parsing, encoding, and association work during rebuilding and appends. Cached restoration shares task and turn metadata instead of retaining another complete ledger.
  • Bound concurrent query reductions and spill larger working sets to private temporary storage. Resource limits return explicit errors rather than silently truncated totals.
  • A fixed synthetic fixture measured more than tenfold complete-index reduction against the original uncompressed layout. This is fixture-specific evidence, not a guarantee for every source corpus.

Install or update

macOS and Linux:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YannByte/wombat/main/scripts/install/install.sh | sh

  • API costs are estimates. Unpriced or partial data stays explicit and is separate from subscription allowance.
  • The derived-index format changes in this release. Older indexes can return INDEX_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION and are preserved without migration or automatic deletion. Follow the documented format recovery and preserve user decisions. A different WOMBAT_DATA_HOME creates an isolated store; it does not repair the old store or transfer its decisions.

Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Wombat v0.3.1

This maintenance release improves Codex plugin compatibility, configuration evidence, cancellation, and update reliability.

Highlights

  • Use compatible local Codex versions through native plugin discovery and validated Hook registration, without a fixed version allowlist.
  • Follow configuration changes with content-version evidence. Replayed native AGENTS.md loads count once per document, while different documents remain distinct.
  • Read queries return CANCELLED when cancellation arrives before the result is delivered. Confirmed preference, directory authorization, price-update, and handoff-send results remain available.
  • Token budget watch reloads configuration and resumes checks after a concurrent monitor change; invalid arguments still return errors.
  • Update downloads enforce metadata and archive size limits while streaming, including responses without a reliable Content-Length header. Failed downloads retain the active installation.
  • Find the installation command and a copyable first question earlier in the README. See task timing, project statistics, budget monitoring, and recurring operations across tasks in one project.

Wombat v0.3.0

This stable release brings local Codex usage analysis and configuration review into your existing conversation through a Codex plugin, with a Web dashboard for detailed evidence.

Highlights

  • Install Wombat and its Codex plugin together, then ask questions about usage and project configuration in your existing Codex conversation. Open a Web view for the same project and data version.
  • Investigate usage increases through task and period comparisons, input trajectories, cache reuse, repeated requests, compaction comparisons and resource records.
  • Review AGENTS.md, Skills, MCP entries and Hooks for format issues, local references, Hook targets, duplicate instruction blocks and other supported checks. Review recommendations, authorize selected changes and rerun the same checks.
  • Read native Codex allowance observations and stored history separately from local token usage and estimated API costs.
  • Optionally collect native Hook observations through the collection plugin. Inspect project-scoped event receipts and pause or resume collection; historical log reading remains available without it.
  • Keep displayed numbers aligned with the selected Chinese or English language, including compact Token values. English count labels now use singular wording for one task, suggestion, session, operation or response.

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Oct 08:09
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Wombat v0.2.0

This stable release adds whole-turn timing and event analysis for Codex tasks, with progressive project loading and more reliable updates while tasks are running.

Highlights

  • Inspect whole-turn durations, operation outcomes, repeated behavior, and changes in recorded request input through the Web interface and the timing CLI.
  • Open evidence pages tied to the same task, turn, and read version. Missing records remain explicit rather than becoming zero values or claims about the cause of slow work.
  • View committed project results progressively during large initial reads, with less event allocation and more targeted project event queries.
  • Keep reading Codex records while files are appended, and refresh active Web data every five minutes.
  • Resolve recorded Windows and Unix paths consistently, and recognize replaced Windows logs without relying on their creation time.
  • Create a separate timing summary for sharing with direct identifiers removed. Local evidence and the sharing summary remain separate.

Install or update

macOS and Linux:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wangyan9110/wombat/main/install.sh | sh

Wombat v0.1.1

The first stable Wombat release helps Codex users review local usage and configuration, act on evidence-backed findings, and verify the result.

Highlights

  • Review token usage, API cost estimates, tasks, turns, and timing from local Codex records.
  • Inspect AGENTS.md, Skills, MCP entries, and Hooks, then send selected findings to a compatible local Codex and recheck them.
  • Run wombat doctor for a read-only, offline check of the installation, PATH, bundled runtime, local core, and Codex data directory.
  • Install and open self-contained archives with one command, then use atomic, checksum-verified updates without a system Node.js, npm, Rust, pnpm, or compiler installation.

Install or update

macOS and Linux:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wangyan9110/wombat/main/install.sh | sh

Windows PowerShell:
