Changes

  • Tilt to lean (#247). On Android and iOS, a new switch Launcher › Controls › Touch › Tilt to lean (off by default) moves the left stick up and down as you tip the phone forward and back, measured from how you held it when the race started.
    • Correction: an earlier version of these notes said this speeds up and brakes. It doesn't. In a race the stick's up/down only feeds the game's trick and gesture detection, so in normal riding it does little. Braking is still the B button (X is the kick dash). We're discussing in #247 what tipping should do instead.

Everything else is the same as v0.10.23.

Validation

  • AYN Thor, this release's APK:
    • Dolphin Resort at full speed (0.999, 60 fps), all 455 pipelines prepared.
    • A second race with Tilt to lean on: the accelerometer opened, the neutral angle was taken at the start, and the race ran at full speed.
    • The tilting itself wasn't tried: no one can tip the device remotely. The angle maths is covered by unit tests.
  • Windows x64 package, Vulkan, with the validation layer: a whole race, no validation errors, all 455 pipelines.
  • macOS (M1) package: a whole Dolphin Resort race at full speed.
  • Unit tests: 170 passed on Linux, including new tilt-lean and settings tests. GitHub Actions builds and tests passed on Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.

Downloads

  • Windows x64: download and extract the Windows ZIP; run FreeRidersRecompiled.exe.
  • Linux x64: download and extract the Linux archive; run FreeRidersRecompiled.
  • Android 10 or later: prefer android10-arm64.apk.
  • Android 9: use android-arm64.apk.
  • Android version code: 72. The companion licence archive applies to both APKs.
  • macOS (Apple Silicon): download and extract the macOS ZIP; open FreeRidersRecompiled.app (right-click › Open the first time).
  • iOS: ios-arm64.ipa, to install with your own sideloading tool.
  • Online server: docker pull ghcr.io/yuutatsubasa/free-riders-server:0.10.24
  • Checksums: SHA256SUMS.txt.

Use your own game disc image. No game data, private saves or test overrides are included.

Known limitations

The same as v0.10.6.
