@Evtema3 Evtema3 released this 28 Jan 23:54

Developer Note

We had not updated Borderline in several years because there has been a bug affecting world border corner collision in every version of Minecraft: Java Edition since 1.18.1, which makes Borderline borderline impossible to play. Please upvote if you have an account on the bug tracker: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC/issues/MC-248304

Fortunately, it happens that the Lithium mod fixes this issue for whatever reason, despite its goal of not changing any vanilla mechanics. We'll roll with that for a while.

This release of Borderline supports Minecraft 1.21.11, with the hope of supporting future versions and adding more content later on. We were sorry to abandon the game in the first place and only did so because it wouldn't be fun to play anymore with the bugged behavior. We highly recommend installing Lithium on your client to experience Borderline how it was intended.

Changes/Tweaks:

  • You can now remove powerups you don't want by putting them into your crafting slots.
    • This does not work for the Slap Shot bow and regular Arrows.
  • Added three new tipped arrow types:
    • Weakness Arrow: Renders Slap Fishes ineffective.
    • Poison Arrow: Makes you take constant damage ticks.
    • Speed Arrow: Can be used to speed you up or trip up an opponent.
  • Added new animations/sound effects for swinging and breaking Slap Fishes.
  • Tweaked name colors of Blindness Arrows and Jump Boost.
  • Updated the instructions book.
  • Added a statue to the lobby to reward Zorrpann, our first player to beat 1000 rounds of Borderline.

Fixed Bugs:

  • Slap Fishes didn't work anymore.
  • Respawn anchor blocks for Portal Tiles could be clicked inside the world border to deal damage to the map.
  • Stacking Explosive Tile powerups on the same tile could cause a byte overflow that made explosions either entirely ineffective or lethal.
  • Glowing effect for queued players was not infinite.
  • Void death check was unreliable.
  • The locator bar was visible.
  • Armor had visible enchantment glints for hidden effects.
  • Explosive Tile TNT was too big.

We were sorry to abandon the game in the first place and only did so because it wouldn't be fun to play anymore with the bugged behavior. Changes/Tweaks

  • Updated to Minecraft 1.21.11.
  • Added a new "Ice Tile" powerup that, when thrown onto a tile, replaces its blocks with frosted ice that melts beneath your feet.
    • Other tile powerups can still combine their effects with Ice Tiles.
  • Slightly reworded the instruction book to fit the new powerup and better describe the combination behavior of tile powerups.
  • Jump Boost and Smoke Bomb powerups are now right-clickable instead of being droppable.
  • Armor is no longer removed when using Smoke Bombs and instead made invisible for the duration of the effect.
  • The name color for Blindness Arrows is now dark gray instead of black to increase readability.
  • The potion color for Blindness Arrows has been updated to what it should be in vanilla.
  • The item texture for Unleash the Beast is now a zoglin spawn egg instead of rotten flesh.
  • Extra Life powerup should reward more immediately upon pickup.
  • Added light blocks to the arena to help counteract the dingy look of night vision in this version of Minecraft.

Fixed Bugs

  • The game did not cleanly reset when relogging into a singleplayer world/empty server after quitting during a match.
  • Armor stands were visible to spectators for the TNT displayed on Exploding Tiles.
  • Actionbar titles were not properly cleared when the game ended.

The Clean-up Update

Choose a tag to compare

@Evtema3 Evtema3 released this 15 Jul 15:09

Fixed bugs:

  • Multiple powerup items could stack together and only spawn one powerup.
  • Spectators could stay in adventure mode upon game start.
  • "Most rounds survived" statistic wasn't always accurate.
  • Round start sound did not play at the player's new location upon game start.
  • Placing multiple tile powerups on one tile could affect tiles much further away.
  • Players who smoke bombed were still visible to each other.
  • Un-picked-up Falling Tile powerups could cause a scoreboard memory leak.

Feature changes:

  • Exploding Tile now explodes upon impact in the center of the tile only. This makes it more usable for trapping enemies.
  • You now get two Portal Tiles at once. This makes it more possible to use without waiting for a new one to spawn in.
  • When you die, you're put in spectator above the previously selected tile.
  • You now respawn facing the newly selected tile.
  • Players now keep their inventory upon death (may become configurable in the future).
  • More powerups spawn at once with more players and as the game goes longer.
  • Powerups deliberately try not to spawn near players or other items unless absolutely necessary.
  • The game ends when there are 5 or less tiles left and announces when it does so.

Miscellaneous:

  • Improved entity selector performance.
