• 长输出更轻便：实时更新只发送新增文本，相同内容不重复刷新；截断的命令结果可打开完整日志，搜索结果保留截断与超时标记。

• Fork from a reply: the existing message action now creates and selects an independent conversation with the preceding context and attachments. The parent conversation and workspace files stay intact, with duplicate-click protection and validated history anchors.
• One confirmation, automatic updates: a new branded dialog supports English, Chinese, light and dark themes. After confirmation, download, verification, silent installation and reopening proceed automatically, waiting for active tasks to finish.
• Respect concise-answer requests: explicit requests to provide only the answer bypass the opening hook and its additional opening request.

开场优化会增加一次受限的短请求，服务响应时间仍会波动。有限实测中，Step 订阅 SVG 小任务首句约 6.5 秒，腾讯 WorkBuddy DeepSeek 文件读取任务约 3.3 秒，均完整成功；这不是固定速度保证。

Earlier, task-specific progress and smoother everyday operations.

• Earlier opening explanations: supported OpenAI-compatible reasoning models use the selected model for one short, bounded opening request before continuing with the original task reasoning settings. Disabling the hook or requesting only the result preserves the existing flow.
• Accurate thinking duration: subsequent text and tool argument generation no longer extends a completed reasoning block.
• More reliable tool calls: handle repeated, identical complete argument snapshots without weakening argument validation.
• Smoother long conversations: improve history traversal, snapshot reuse, statistics and indexing, reducing repeated reads and memory retention.
• Faster file and plugin operations: improve attachment range reads, PDF buffers, file search and plugin directory checks.
• More reliable input queues: recover unsent entries and avoid redundant checkpoint comparisons.

The opening mechanism adds one bounded short request; latency varies by service. In small live tests, a Step subscription SVG task displayed its opening in about 6.5 seconds and a Tencent WorkBuddy DeepSeek file-reading task in about 3.3 seconds, with both tasks completing successfully. These are observations, not latency guarantees.

This release reduces unnecessary work when starting tasks, using the browser, and navigating documents.

• More efficient task prewarming: fix a draft session being started, discarded, and recreated when returning to a new task. In a four-task check, runtime starts dropped from eight to four.
• Fewer repeated history reads: unchanged task-list refreshes no longer reread every conversation. Queries for a specific task read only that task, reducing local disk and parsing work as history grows.
• Simpler browser startup: combine initial read-only observations to reduce model/tool round trips while retaining target checks and permission rules.
• Working document images and links: resolve Markdown images and local links relative to the document, including paths with Unicode and spaces.

Real small-task regression checks also covered pasted images, attachment limits, long text, file undo, document recovery, Git commit scope, task switching, and renaming. The bundled runtime and model reasoning settings are unchanged.

This release improves how files, tasks, and workflows work together.

• Live file previews: text, code, images, PDFs, Word documents, and presentations refresh when their source changes. Text refreshes retain the reading position, and recreated files become visible again.
• Fresher search: discover new files immediately, remove stale results after renames or deletions, and backfill historical conversation text indexes.
• Configured workflow models: launching a saved workflow uses the model configured for its project.
• Multiple-choice questions: models can explicitly request multiple selections alongside free-text answers.
• Safer undo and reliable file links: fix opening-hook checkpoint interference and handle brief Windows file locks while preserving external-edit conflict checks. Correct local links containing Unicode, spaces, hash signs, and literal percent escapes.
• One software update channel: runtime updates are integrated and validated by the maintainer before shipping with Harness. The app now has one update entry. Automation shutdown also releases its active run state correctly.

Validated with real, bounded Step Plan tasks covering queue interruption and recovery, images and mixed attachments, interactive questions, previews and exports, selected-slide editing, browser forms, and recovery from navigation failures.

• Edit and retry: edit the latest user message or regenerate a reply, with the correct conversation branch preserved across restarts.
• Safe file undo: preview and restore tracked file-tool changes, remove files created in that turn, and detect external-edit conflicts. Message editing can also restore the turn's files.
• Manual context compaction: queue compaction during active work, cancel it, and continue processing subsequent messages.
• Ready before announcing an update: background checks validate the differential index and confirm that the installer connection returns readable data before exposing the update action.
• More reliable attachments and browsing: improve file transport and previews, and preserve form state when reopening an existing browser page.
• Less noise: remove stale workflow-question notices, hide internal plugin dependencies, keep user requests ahead of runtime notices, and refine Office guidance and localized UI.

Validated with real, bounded Step Plan tasks. File undo requires checkpoints recorded during execution; shell changes and older history without checkpoints are not automatically rolled back.

Approval waits now respect the snippet deadline; cancellation and tool completion clear stale approvals; interrupted tasks no longer keep running timers after restart.
