Setting up the APM menu and APM games

Extra Requirements

None.

Note

If you want to run APM as "pure"/"vanilla" as possible, you may skip adding BepInEx and APMExtensions.

Please note that this will require further configuration not listed here, such as having appropriately named .opt files (which may have blank contents).

Guide

  1. Reassign any disks, network drives, CD/DVD drives or SD card readers located at the W:, X:\ and Y:\ drive.

    1. If they are network drives, disconnect them and reconnect them on another letter. You may need to restart your computer.
    2. For disks, close any programs accessing them, then go to "Computer Management" > "Disk Management".
      1. Right click the disk in question and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."
      2. Remove the entry for W:, X: or Y:.
      3. Add a new entry on any other drive letter.
  2. Place the extracted copy of ALL.Net P-ras multi Ver.3 1.05.90 somewhere easily accessible. This guide assumes the path of C:\apm, but can be anywhere you want. This will be referred to as the "launcher directory".

    • Note: The game files can be placed on a completely seperate drive later in case of disk space concerns.
  3. Place all files from the segatools APM package in the launcher directory.

  4. Download the latest version of BepInEx 5 (not 6) and place all files in the launcher directory.

    • The download should be named BepInEx_win_x64_5.x.x.zip.
  5. Download XUnity.AutoTranslator and place all files in BepInEx.

    • The download should be named XUnity.AutoTranslator-BepInEx-5.x.x.zip. Do not use the "IL2CPP" version.
  6. Download APMExtensions from this repository and place all files from LauncherDirectory in the launcher directory.

    • Overwrite any files if asked.
  7. Open segatools.ini and set the following:

    1. [dns] default to the host name or IP address of your server emulator or network.
    2. [keychip] subnet to your LAN IP subnet.
      • If you do not know it:
        1. Open a command prompt, and then run netsh interface IP show addresses | findstr "IP".
        2. If you get multiple entries, it's the one that starts with 192.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x.
        3. Replace the last number with a zero, so if your LAN IP address is for example 192.168.1.12, then write 192.168.1.0 into the config file.
      • This is required for local matching, and some games will crash with a wrong configuration.
    3. If your server requires authentication, set [keychip] id to a keychip ID provided by your server.
      • If no authentication is needed, however you still plan on using multiplay features, set the keychip ID of each player to something unique.
    4. [netenv] addrSuffix to the final digit of your LAN IP address.
      • See previous step for instructions how to retrieve it.
      • If your LAN IP address is for example 192.168.1.12, then write 12 into the config file.
    5. [vfs] amfs to amfs
    6. [vfs] appdata to any desired path where local game save data will be stored at. This guide assumes C:\apm\appdata.
    7. [vfs] option to any desired path where the game data will be stored at. Depending on how many games you want to install, this can easily reach 300GB+. This will be referred to as the "game directory".
      • Avoid choosing the root of a drive. Special hidden directory, such as "System Volume Information" may break things.
    8. (Optional) If you are planning on using a keyboard to play, set the keybindings in the [io4] section. You do not need to edit these if you are planning to use a controller.
      • Non-APM games will NOT use these bindings.
  8. If your server emulator requires a specific card ID, place the aime.txt or felica.txt belonging to your account in the DEVICE folder.

  9. (Optional) If you want to reduce the time that "Store DNS" takes at startup from 30 seconds to 1 second:

    1. Download the latest version of hexedit2 and save it in the launcher directory.
    2. Open a command prompt, and run the following:
      1. hexedit2 single amdaemon.exe amdaemon.exe 0x679188 0x3D,0xFF,0x00 0x3D,0x20,0x4E
      2. hexedit2 single amdaemon.exe amdaemon.exe 0x6791BA 0x3D,0xFF,0x00 0x3D,0x20,0x4E
  10. The test menus (configuration menus) of some games require the decimal seperator of your computer set to a dot. If your locale is Japanese or American, you do not need to do this.

    1. Press Windows+R, and run intl.cpl.
    2. Click on "Additional Settings..."
    3. Under "Numbers", set "Decimal symbol" to a single .
    • It is not recommended to set your entire system locale to Japanese, as that will switch the language in some games to Japanese.
  11. (Optional) If you don't have a touchscreen:

    1. Run the launcher once via launch.bat and exit it. This will create a config file at BepInEx\config\eu.haruka.gmg.apm.fixes.cfg.
    2. Open the file and set Show Mouse to true
  12. Set up your games:

    1. Inside the game directory, create a folder with the following name:
      1. In the game's data, you should find a file called app.json. Open it with any text editor.
      2. Look at the 4 letters specified for subGameId. The required directory name are the last two letters of the game ID, then append 10. For example, if your subGameId is SDFU, your directory name is FU10.
    2. Place all game files, including app.json, the App directory, movie.wmv, etc. in that new directory.
    3. Repeat this for each game.
  13. Run launch.bat. Make sure to NOT launch game.bat. (you may delete that file).

    • If you get ERROR 4104, this is the generic error code for an amdaemon issue. Check amdaemon console and make sure all files from the segatools package are present.
    • If you get ERROR 4105, make sure you have a valid ICF1 file in the amfs directory.
    • If you get ERROR 0701, a network problem occurred with the server emulator, or AvailableAppList.json could not be read (from %TEMP%). If startup displayed GOOD for "APM Game Server", opening and closing the test menu usually fixes this.
    • If you get ERROR 0703, no valid games were found (or all available games are turned off in test menu). Double-check that all directories in the game directory are named what they should be.
    • If you get ERROR 0709, this is a generic error code that an internal error has occurred inside the launcher. The Unity log, output_log.txt, may have more information about this.
    • If you get ERROR 0710, the game you were using has crashed. Do not close games with the "X" button or Alt+F4, press the button or key defined as HOME in segatools.ini to close a game.
  14. To configure available games, after the system startup check is complete, hit the test button and navigate to "Enabled Title Settings" and turn on/off the games you want to be playable.

  15. To configure matching, in the test menu, go to "Matching Settings" and set:

    1. Store Versus Group to the same letter as everyone else (this should generally always be A)
    2. Store co-op group to a different number than everyone else (this needs to be communicated to other players, so you don't end up with the same number multiple times)
    • Some games have their own matching settings in their respective test menus. To get into a game specific test menu, press the TEST button while that game is running.
  16. After a game exits, you will be returned to the APMv3 launcher. To get out of the launcher loop, simply close/ALT+F4/System Test Mode.

    1. Make sure to exit games with the HOME (or TEST) button. Quitting the currently played game otherwise (ALT+F4, X button, etc.) will cause ERROR 0710, requiring you to close the launcher. (Test menu in/out does NOT clear this error)

Tip

Some global settings (audio channels, enabled features) can be configured in BepInEx\config\eu.haruka.gmg.apm.fixes.cfg, eu.haruka.apm.headphone.*.cfg and BepInEx\config\eu.haruka.apm.exmoneyui.cfg. The launcher and/or eMoneyUI must have been run once for these files to be created.

Tip

To configure extra features, such as LEDs or guides, see Configuring extra features (AppEx).
