Version 2.1.0 is a major update to ADI Kuiper Linux, moving the distribution to a new Debian base and delivering full boot files and ADI tools integration.

This release includes breaking changes and is not backward-compatible with previous versions.

Breaking Changes

  • Full system now based on Debian Bookworm 13 "Trixie"

  • Not backward-compatible with 2.0.0 images, a clean reflash is required

  • New Basic / Full edition split

Components

  • Published in four variants: Basic and Full editions, each for armhf (32-bit) and arm64 (64-bit)

  • Full edition (recommended) ships the desktop environment and the ADI software stack

  • Basic edition is a minimal image without a desktop environment or ADI tools

  • Boot files are now included in the image for Zynq, ZynqMP, Versal, Arria10, Cyclone5 and Raspberry Pi (depending on the architecture)

  • ADI libraries & tools (from the ADI package repository):

    • libiio - 0.26-2
    • pyadi-iio - 0.0.21
    • libm2k - 0.9.0
    • libad9361-iio - 0.4.0
    • libad9166-iio - 0.3.0
    • IIO Oscilloscope - 0.18.1
    • Scopy - 2.2.1
    • gr-m2k - 1.0.0
    • adi-scripts - 0.1.0
  • Boot files (from the ADI package repository):

    • Raspberry Pi - 2026.1.0
    • Xilinx & Intel (Zynq, ZynqMP, Versal, Arria10, Cyclone5) - 2026.1.0

Improvements

  • ADI tools (libiio, Scopy, IIO Oscilloscope, and others) are now installed as .deb packages via apt from the kuiper Cloudsmith package repository

  • Reproducible builds via Debian snapshot pinning

  • CI builds on native arm64 GitHub runners with binfmt/QEMU cross-architecture support, on every push and pull request; custom image builds are supported

  • Each image is stamped with a Kuiper image identity manifest

  • New GitHub Pages documentation, including networking, version-check and release pages

  • The update process is done through the ADI Package Repository

  • Ships a configuration script that prepares the boot partition for a chosen project, runnable directly on Kuiper or on any Linux host
