Getting Started

After setup, select Advanced History in the Home Assistant sidebar.

Add your first chart

  1. Select Add target.
  2. Choose one or more areas, devices, or entities.
  3. Close the target picker.
  4. Advanced History resolves the targets and creates numeric-history and state-timeline graphs as required.

Selected targets appear as removable chips. Entity chips include their area name when it is not already present in the friendly name.

Header controls

From left to right, the panel header provides:

Control Purpose
Bookmarks Open saved, reusable chart snapshots.
History Open recently cleared or replaced charts.
Undo Restore the previous incremental chart state.
Redo Reapply the most recently undone state.
Settings Open the visual editor for the current chart.
Remove all selections Archive the current chart, then clear every target.

The Settings control is shown only when the configured settings path is available and the current user is an administrator.

Date control

The floating control at the bottom uses Home Assistant's Energy period selector. Select its date label to choose a preset or custom range. The arrows move backward and forward by the current range.

When the last target is removed, the period returns to Today and comparison is cleared. The chart that was active before clearing remains available in History.

Current chart versus defaults

The header Settings button edits only the current chart. Integration-wide defaults are managed from the integration config flow. See Graph Settings and Card Defaults.
