OpenShaker 1.0.3
Game haptics for ButtKicker and other bass shakers - by baddo & Claude
What's new in 1.0.3
Fixes for the automatic updates added in 1.0.2. They only matter if you switched automatic updates on.
- A failed automatic update is not tried again and again. If an automatic update fails, that version is
no longer installed automatically, not even after a restart; the update bar says so, and Update now
still works. A newer version is tried automatically again, and a network problem only postpones the
update by 10 minutes. - Automatic updates wait while you use OpenShaker: they don't start while its window is open or a test
tone plays, as well as while a supported game runs or sends data. - An interrupted automatic update keeps its download. If a game starts during the download, the checked
installer is kept and installed at the next quiet moment, without downloading it again. - Switching automatic updates or the update check off during a download now stops it before anything
is installed. - No automatic updates when OpenShaker runs with
--no-startor without its tray icon. - The start after an automatic update shows no "device not found" notification.
- A bigger window uses its space: the telemetry readouts, sliders and level bars stretch when you
make the window wider or taller. The default size is unchanged.
Updating: from 1.0.2, use Update now (or let automatic updates do it). From 1.0.0 or 1.0.1,
install this version once by hand (below); your settings are kept.
Install
- Download OpenShaker-Setup-1.0.3.exe below.
- Double-click it. It isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": click
More info, then Run anyway. - Click Install on the only screen. OpenShaker installs and starts by itself.
Everything else, from games and effects to settings and troubleshooting, is in the
OpenShaker guide.

OpenShaker 1.0.2
Game haptics for ButtKicker and other bass shakers - by baddo & Claude
What's new in 1.0.2
- Automatic updates, if you want them. They're off unless you say yes.
- When an update is found, the update bar asks, until you answer: "Install updates automatically when no
game is running?" You can change your mind any time under Advanced... > Install updates
automatically. - When they're on, OpenShaker waits until no game is running and none has sent data for 5 minutes. It then
downloads, checks and installs the update exactly as Update now does, and comes back in the
tray. The window tells you it updated itself. - It never interrupts a drive and never pops up, and a version you skipped is never installed.
(How updating works)
- When an update is found, the update bar asks, until you answer: "Install updates automatically when no
- A simpler download check. Update now checks the installer against the SHA-256 that GitHub
itself publishes for each release file, instead of a separate.sha256file. - The installer's only button now says Install.
Updating from 1.0.0 or 1.0.1: install this version once by hand (below); your settings are kept.
1.0.1's updater looks for a separate .sha256 file, which releases no longer carry, so it won't offer
this update itself. From 1.0.2 on, updates are one click, or automatic if you choose.
Note (added after 1.0.3): if you switched automatic updates on, update to 1.0.3. In 1.0.2 an automatic update that fails is tried again and again; 1.0.3 fixes that and a few smaller automatic-update issues.
Install
- Download OpenShaker-Setup-1.0.2.exe below.

OpenShaker 1.0.1
Game haptics for ButtKicker and other bass shakers - by baddo & Claude
What's new in 1.0.1
- One-click updates. OpenShaker now checks GitHub once a day for a newer version - quietly, with no
pop-ups. When there is one, the tray icon gets a small !, the tray menu shows Update to X.Y.Z, and
the window shows a bar with Update now, What's new and Skip this version. Update now
downloads the new installer from this page, checks its size and SHA-256, installs it without an
administrator prompt and starts OpenShaker again. Your settings, Start with Windows choice and
shortcuts stay as they are. Turn the check off under Advanced... > Check for updates. - A tidier window. It no longer opens about 1,480 px wide: long status lines wrap, and the game
sources are listed one per line.
Updating from 1.0.0: 1.0.0 has no updater yet, so install this version once by hand (below) - your
settings are kept.
Note (added after 1.0.2): 1.0.1 can't update itself to 1.0.2 or later. Download the latest installer once from the latest release; from 1.0.2 on, updates are one click.
Install
- Download OpenShaker-Setup-1.0.1.exe below.
- Double-click it. It isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": click
More info, then Run anyway. - Click Next - the only screen. OpenShaker installs and starts by itself.
Everything else - games, effects, settings, troubleshooting - is in the
OpenShaker guide.

OpenShaker 1.0.0
Game haptics for ButtKicker and other bass shakers - by baddo & Claude
OpenShaker reads what your racing game reports - engine revs, gear changes, bumps, crashes, wheel lock and slip - and turns it into vibration you feel through your seat. Its effects were tuned to match HaptiConnect's output on real laps (how it was tuned).
Install (one click)
- Download OpenShaker-Setup-1.0.0.exe below.
- Double-click it. It isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway.
- Click Next - the only screen; no administrator rights needed. OpenShaker installs, starts by itself and lives in the tray next to the clock.
First run: turn your amplifier down, pick your shaker by name under Output > Device, press Test tone, then set the amplifier firm but never clattering.

Built with AI, open to feedback
OpenShaker was designed, measured and coded with Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, under the maintainer's direction and testing on a real rig (ButtKicker PRO, Windows 11). It is a young project and your setup isn't the one it was tuned on, so reports are very welcome - bugs, and just as much "how it feels on my setup":
open an issue, or use Send feedback / report a bug in the tray menu. Nothing is sent automatically.
