Sigils

A Sigil is a slate-inscribed focus that channels Essentia Vitae from your Anima into a specific effect. Each one is forged by inscribing an Alchemy Array with a Reagent (brewed in the Tabula Vitae) as the base and a Slate as the catalyst. The slate's tier dictates the sigil's reach.

Activation Schools

Sigils fall into two schools of invocation:

  • Use-on-cast sigils perform a single act each time you invoke them, drawing a fixed measure of EV per use. The Water, Lava, Void, Blood Lamp, Air, Teleposition, Necromancy, and Bound Treasures sigils all behave this way.
  • Toggleable sigils maintain a continuous effect while held active, draining EV at a steady upkeep so long as their power flows.

To toggle a sigil on or off, hold Shift and right-click into open air. Aiming at a block or creature performs that sigil's normal action instead, so the shift requirement protects against accidental toggles in the heat of work. An active toggleable sigil bears a faint enchantment shimmer, and its tooltip lists the EV it drains per interval. When your Anima runs dry, the sigil quietly deactivates until you refill and reignite it.

The toggleable sigils are the Sigil of the Green Grove, Sigil of the Fast Miner, Sigil of Magnetism, Sigil of the Frozen Lake, Sigil of Suppression, and Sigil of the Phantom Bridge.

Sight and Information

Divination Sigil

The first lens through which a Vitaemancer peers into the invisible currents of EV. Activate toward open air to reveal the Essentia Vitae stored within your Anima; aim at an Ara Vitae to reveal its current tier, EV volume, and maximum capacity. Crafted with Redstone Dust as the array base and a Tabula Rasa as the catalyst. To see is to begin understanding.

Hold sneak and press [Use] to open a configuration interface for arranging the on-screen HUD elements, namely the Incense Altar (light gray), the Seer's Sigil (purple), the Divination Sigil (lavender), the Spiritus Aura Gauge (orange), and the Sigil of Holding (green).

Seer's Sigil

Where the Divination Sigil offers a glimpse, the Seer opens your perception wide. When aimed at an Ara Vitae, the display reveals the altar's tier, its current EV and maximum capacity, active crafting progress, EV consumed per tick during crafting, and the EV currently held in reserve by Charging Runes. Forged from the Sight Reagent.

While you carry a Seer's Sigil, looking at an active Master Ritual Stone outlines the ritual's working area in the world, drawing a colored box around each of its configured ranges. The sigil need only be on your person; it works from your inventory, from inside a Sigil of Holding, or worn in a Curios slot.

Utility

Sigil of the Blood Lamp

Launches a mote of crystallized EV in the direction you face. When it strikes a surface, it anchors as a permanent floating light source for merely 10 EV. Right-clicking a nearby surface places the light directly without launching a projectile. The sigil remembers a brightness level from 1 to 15; left-click to cycle up, sneak + left-click to cycle down. You can also right-click an already-placed light to brighten or dim it.

Right-click a blood light with Redstone Dust to toggle redstone sensitivity; the light only glows while receiving a signal. Right-click with redstone again to disable that mode. Combine the sigil with any vanilla dye in a shapeless craft to change the color of future placements; place the sigil alone in a crafting grid to restore default red.

Sigil of Holding

A vessel within a vessel, capable of containing up to five other sigils simultaneously. While held, it channels their passive effects and allows you to activate any of them at will. Press the Open Holding keybind to access its inventory; use the cycle keybinds or hold sneak and scroll to switch between stored sigils.

Sigil of Bound Treasures

Links to a container and allows you to access its contents from anywhere. Shift-right-click a chest, barrel, or any container to bind it; right-click in the air to open the linked container remotely at a cost of 200 EV. The container must be in a loaded chunk to open it, and its chunk is then held loaded for as long as you have it open, plus a minute after you close it. If the container is destroyed, the link is broken. Crafted with an Eye of Ender base and an Tabula Animata catalyst.

Sigil of Magnetism

Bends the subtle forces between you and nearby objects, extending item pickup range to 7 blocks. Hold sneak and press [Use] to toggle. Drains 50 EV every 5 seconds while active.

Sigil of the Fast Miner

Infuses your muscles with vitaemantic vigor, granting the Haste effect while active. Toggle with sneak + [Use]. Drains 100 EV every 5 seconds.

Sigil of the Green Grove

Channels EV into the living earth, coaxing plants to grow with unnatural speed. Aim at a growable block and press [Use] for a burst of growth (150 EV). Hold sneak + [Use] to toggle a persistent aura that pulses every 5 seconds across a 7x7x5 volume centered on you.

Sigil of Necromancy

Calls upon the latent death in the world to raise an Undead Servant at the location you are aiming. Each use costs 2,000 EV and summons one of four undead variants at random: zombie, husk, skeleton, or stray. Servants last 5 minutes before crumbling to dust; they cannot harm their master, drop no loot or experience, and are immune to sunlight. They follow you when idle and attack whatever you last struck. Shift-right-click a servant while holding the sigil to dismiss it early.

Elemental and Environment

Water Sigil

Conjures a source of water from nothing for 100 EV per use. If your Anima is insufficient, the sigil draws the toll from your own blood instead. The sigil may also serve as a component in the Tabula Vitae to automate the production of Water Buckets (the sigil is not consumed).

Lava Sigil

Sister to the Water Sigil. Draws molten stone from the depths of your Anima for 1,000 EV. If your reserves cannot bear it, five hearts are torn from your flesh instead. Like its cooler counterpart it can automate Lava Bucket production via the Tabula Vitae.

Void Sigil

Annihilates fluid on contact for 50 EV per block erased. Invaluable for clearing treacherous lava flows or unwanted floods.

Sigil of Suppression

Banishes all fluids within roughly six blocks of you while active. The liquid vanishes as though it never existed and returns only after you move away. A powerful tool for traversing Nether lava oceans; deactivating above a chasm invites a swift end.

Sigil of the Frozen Lake

Chills water beneath your feet as you walk, crystallizing it into solid ice within a two-block radius. Toggle with sneak + [Use]. The ice endures only as long as you remain near.

Transport and Traversal

Air Sigil

Hurls you through the sky in whatever direction you face for 50 EV per burst. The wind obeys, but gravity does not; the sigil offers no protection from the landing. More than one overconfident apprentice has drained their Anima mid-flight.

Sigil of the Phantom Bridge

Crystallizes EV into temporary platforms beneath your feet as you walk. The phantom blocks dissolve shortly after you leave them behind. Between you and the void, blood is the only bridge you need.

Teleposition Sigil

Tears a momentary rift between you and a linked Teleposer, pulling you across any distance (even between dimensions) for 1,000 EV. Sneak-click on a Teleposer to bind its location to the sigil. Do not move the Teleposer afterward, or you may find yourself arriving somewhere unexpected.

Related Foci

Training Bracelet

Not a sigil proper, but inscribed in an Alchemy Array all the same. With a copy of the relevant Upgrade Tome in hand, the bracelet lets you cap any Sentient Armor upgrade's level. The armor will cease training that skill once the limit is met. Only one bracelet is active at a time, with priority off-hand > Curios > main inventory > add-ons. Tip: to allow all upgrades except one, set the bracelet to 'allow others' mode and cap the unwanted skill at level 0.
