- Distinguishes confirmed special schedules from days that are still waiting for exact bell times, with automatic refreshes and clearer status across Today and Schedule.

RooMate 6.0
What's new since RooMate 5.1
RooMate 6 is the biggest RooMate update yet. The app has been redesigned from top to bottom and expanded far beyond the original schedule dashboard, with new ways to keep up with your day, dining, sports, clubs, events, RooPACs, and more.
A completely redesigned RooMate
RooMate 6 introduces a new visual system across the entire app, with a redesigned sidebar, richer color, smoother animations, a much improved light mode, better dark mode, and more consistent layouts and controls.
The old Dashboard is now Today, built to give you the most useful information about your school day at a glance.
Today, rebuilt
Today now includes:
- Your current class or block with live progress and time remaining
- What's up next
- School-day progress
- Today's full schedule
- Upcoming events
- Contextual actions based on what's happening next
- RooMate announcements
- Quick access to Search and Focus Mode
A much more powerful Schedule
Schedule now includes three views:
- Day for a detailed look at one school day
- Week for the bigger picture
- Plan for the new Semester Planner
The new Semester Planner lets you plan one semester ahead without changing your current schedule. You can copy your current classes as a starting point, make changes, and preview the planned week.
RooMate can also automatically adapt to school-wide special schedules and closures when they are published.
Dining is now in RooMate
The new Dining section brings school menus directly into RooMate, including:
- Menu dates and meal periods
- Stations and individual items
- Search and filtering
- Dietary and allergen information
- Favorites
- Calendar-style browsing
Sports, completely rebuilt
Athletics has become the new Sports Hub.
You can now:
- Browse upcoming games
- Search and filter the athletics schedule
- See a full Teams list
- Follow teams
- Choose My Team
- View team and game details
- Browse the athletics calendar
- See relevant games in your Schedule
- Receive My Team game reminders
Clubs gets its own home
Clubs is no longer just a setup screen.
RooMate 6 adds:
- A club directory
- My Clubs
- Monday and Wednesday club periods
- Exact block meetings
- Additional and after-school meeting times
- Rooms, notes, colors, and icons
- Club meetings throughout Schedule and RooMate's live day context
Events, upgraded
Events has been redesigned with:
- Search and filtering
- Saved events
- Event details
- Day, Week, and Month calendar views
- Better upcoming-event summaries
New: PacTrack
PacTrack helps you plan and keep track of RooPAC requirements based on your grade, with progress, activity planning, exemptions, and reset controls.
New: Links and Profile
Links gives you one place for commonly used student resources, favorites, and your own custom links.
Profile lets RooMate personalize your experience with your name, graduation year, avatar, accent, and grade-aware features such as PacTrack.
A new sidebar
The V6 sidebar is customizable:
- Resize it
- Reorder sections
- Pin favorites
- Hide optional sections
- See your current class or what's up next without leaving the page you're on
Search everything
Press Command-K to search RooMate.
Search can find app sections, your configured classes, My Clubs, events, sports games, and loaded Dining items.
RooMate in your menu bar
RooMate 6 adds a full menu-bar companion with:
- Your current block
- Progress percentage
- Time remaining
- What's next
- A compact view of the rest of your day
There is also an optional floating timer that can stay above your other windows.
Better notifications
Notifications now support:
- Class-start reminders
- Optional class-ending reminders
- Club meeting reminders
- My Team game reminders
- Pause for one hour
- Pause for the rest of today
- Resume at any time
Notifications are off by default until you choose to enable them.
New onboarding
New users now get a guided RooMate setup for Profile, classes, clubs, PacTrack, Sports, notifications, and sidebar preferences.
Existing RooMate users can update without being forced through first-run setup again.
Announcements
RooMate can now display timely announcements directly on Today, including important notices, links, date-limited announcements, and dismissible updates.
Better macOS integration
RooMate 6 also adds:
- Optional Open at Login
- The ability to keep RooMate running after its main window closes
- New keyboard shortcuts and app menus
- Quick navigation from the menu bar
- Improved update support through Sparkle
Reliability improvements
A large amount of work in RooMate 6 happened behind the scenes.
Remote schedules, Dining, Sports, Clubs, Events, and announcements now handle temporary network errors and malformed data more safely, preserve working information when possible, and avoid older requests overwriting newer results.
The app's schedule state is also shared more consistently across Today, Schedule, the sidebar, the menu-bar companion, the floating timer, and notifications.
Privacy-conscious analytics
RooMate uses limited analytics to understand which features are being used and when remote data sources fail.
RooMate's custom analytics do not include your name, classes, teachers, rooms, club names or notes, team names, Dining searches, PacTrack choices, or announcement text.
Compatibility
RooMate 6 requires macOS 14 or later.
In short
RooMate 6 turns RooMate from a schedule-focused utility into a full school-day companion, while keeping the schedule at the center of the experience.
Today. Schedule. Dining. Sports. Clubs. Events. PacTrack. Links. One RooMate.
