Configuration

Applies to Vault Drawers 0.0.0-beta.9 for Minecraft 26.2 (NeoForge).

Two files, inconsistently named

<gamedir>/config/vault-drawers-common.v2.toml # common
<gamedir>/config/vault_drawers_client.toml # client

The naming is inconsistent between them — hyphens in one, underscores in the other, and .v2 is part of the first filename rather than a version marker you can drop. That is inherited from the original mod's config layout; the common file records its own configVersion = 2 internally.

Nothing needs changing in either.

[General]

Option Default What it does
debugTrace false Excessive logging. Only enable if a developer asks you to.
enableUI true Whether blocks with UI components may open them. Disabling restricts some functionality.
logStartupActivity true Log actions such as adding rule or deny-list entries. Turn it off if you have many entries.
configVersion 2 Internal. Records which version the file was written with.

enableUI = false is not a cosmetic setting — the comment says outright that it restricts mod functionality. Drawers with UI will not open.

[Drawers]

baseStackStorage is a single multiplier applied to every drawer slot, whatever its type. Set it to raise all storage uniformly, or leave it at 1 and tune per block.

[Drawers.Blocks] — per-variant base sizes

unitsPerSlot is the number of stacks a slot holds before baseStackStorage is applied.

Variant Default
FullStorage1x1 32
FullStorage1x2 16
FullStorage2x2 8
FullCompacting 32
HalfStorage1x1 16
HalfStorage1x2 8
HalfStorage2x2 4
HalfCompacting 16

The pattern is clear: more compartments and lower height, fewer units per slot.

[Drawers.Compacting]

Option Default What it does
enabled true Master switch. Disabling does not remove the block.
enableExtraCompactingRules true Adds rules for items vanilla does not cover — quartz, brick, clay are named. The log lists the full set added.
compactingRules ["minecraft:clay, minecraft:clay_ball, 4"] Custom rules.

Custom rules are <big item>, <small item>, <amount>.

Compacting requires a 2-way 2×2 or 3×3 recipe to associate items — a one-way recipe cannot be a compacting rule.

See Drawer Blocks.

[Drawers.Detached] and [Drawers.Filled]

Two separate sections with several option names in common. They do not affect each other.

Option [Detached] [Filled] Default
enable true — —
heavyDrawers false false slowness when carried
canStoreInContainers false false bundles and shulkers
canStoreInDrawers — false inside other drawer blocks
forceMaxCapacityCheck false — block capacity on reinsert

canStoreInContainers also applies to empty drawers in both sections — a stated limitation, because the rule applies to the item rather than its contents.

See Drawer Blocks for what each one does.

[Drawers.Framed]

Option Default What it does
enable true Allow crafting framed drawers. Disabling does not remove existing ones.
enforceSolidMaterials true Only accept solid, full-cube blocks.
enforceOpaqueMaterials false Additionally require fully opaque blocks.

Both restrictions are best-effort — a block can be solid by its properties and still render oddly.

[Controller]

Option Default What it does
controllerRange 50 How far a drawer can connect on any of X, Y or Z.

Recommended maximum is around 75, or your expected chunk load distance. Above that, drawers become unavailable when their chunks unload. See The Controller Network.

[Upgrades.StorageTiers] — capacity multipliers

Tier storageMultiplier Default
Obsidian 2 enableUpgrade = true
Copper 4 enableUpgrade = true
Iron 8 enableUpgrade = true
Gold 16 enableUpgrade = true
Emerald 64 enableUpgrade = true
Diamond 256 enableUpgrade = true
Netherite 2048 enableUpgrade = true

The multipliers are added, not multiplied. Four Netherite upgrades give 8192×, not 2048⁴.

Note: the project README says capacity tops out at "64x". That is wrong — 64 is the Emerald tier, and the top tier is Netherite at 2048. See Upgrades.

[Upgrades.Balance] and [Upgrades.Conversion]

Option Default What it does
Balance.enableUpgrade true Evens out same-item slots when items are added or removed. Works across networks through a Controller.
Conversion.enableUpgrade true Automatic conversion between an item and its ore materials.

Conversion allow and deny lists

Option Default What it is
oreTypeAllowList ["c:storage_blocks", "c:ingots", "c:nuggets"] Item types combined with each material. A convenience for common ore-based materials.
oreMaterialAllowList aluminum, constantan, steel, uranium, invar, tin, lead, silver, platinum, nickel, osmium, bronze, electrum The materials to combine them with.
tagAllowList [] Fully namespaced tags to allow.
tagDenyList [] Fully namespaced tags to deny. Everything not on the allow list is denied implicitly.

The deny list is a subtraction, not an override: it is how you exclude specific entries the ore allow list generated.

Entries in those lists should be fully namespaced, e.g. c:ingots/copper.

Tuning

Symptom Change
A drawer looks empty but items are in it Check baseStackStorage was not set to something below 1
Drawers intermittently stop responding controllerRange beyond the chunk load distance — see The Controller Network
A drawer will not open enableUI = false restricts functionality
A compaction you expected is missing Check the log — enableExtraCompactingRules lists what was added
Conversion doing too much Narrow oreMaterialAllowList, or add to tagDenyList
Too much log spam logStartupActivity = false
Capacity is not what you calculated The multipliers add. Sum the tiers, then multiply by unitsPerSlot and baseStackStorage
