Release list
v0.4.1
flashpoint v0.4.1
Fixes
- An unknown word no longer starts a stack.
flashpoint relaodused to passrelaodto your server and launch everything. It now exits 2 withunknown command "relaod" (did you mean reload?). Server arguments go after--. api.env/web.envcan hold defaults. Values expand$VAR,${VAR}and${VAR:-default}against the caller's environment, soDATABASE_URL = "${DATABASE_URL:-postgres://…}"is a default the caller can override. A plain value still overrides.
New
flashpoint statusprints the running instance's state and URLs. Pass--jsonto getGET /statusas JSON. It exits 4 when nothing is running.
Changelog
- cc2c169 fix: reject unknown commands; add status; expand env

v0.4.0
flashpoint v0.4.0
Ports are declared, not injected. flashpoint no longer sets PORT, FLASHPOINT_API_URL, FLASHPOINT_WEB_URL or FLASHPOINT_WEB_PORT, and no longer adds --port/--strictPort to your dev script. Your app runs exactly as it does without flashpoint, with its own ports and its own Vite proxy config.
Tell flashpoint which ports your app listens on with --api-port / --web-port or api.port / web.port in flashpoint.toml. They default to 8080 and 5173, so most projects need no config. flashpoint uses them only to observe:
- the status bar URLs;
- readiness, which is the port accepting a connection;
- waiting for the API port before a restart;
- the 503 page while no server is up.
If a port never comes up, it says "API not listening on :8080 (check --api-port)".
Upgrading
- If your server read
PORT, or your Vite config readFLASHPOINT_API_URL, give them their own values, then tell flashpoint the ports. api.health,api.host,api.port_env, theFLASHPOINT_API_PORT/FLASHPOINT_WEB_PORTvariables, port0and the{port}/{api_url}placeholders inweb.commandare gone.
Changelog
- 6169e68 feat!: declare the app's ports instead of injecting them

v0.3.1
flashpoint v0.3.1
Removes the macOS pre-run of each new build. A restart is now just: build, stop the old server, start the new one. To keep the gap short on macOS, enable your terminal under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Tools; macOS otherwise scans the first launch of each new binary (about 0.3–1s).
Changelog
- 70a9ce7 refactor: drop the macOS pre-run of new builds
Install
brew install danielloader/tap/flashpoint
or go install github.com/danielloader/flashpoint/cmd/flashpoint@v0.3.1, or download a binary below (macOS and Linux, amd64 and arm64).
v0.3.0
flashpoint v0.3.0
Simpler restarts. On save, flashpoint builds the new server while the old one keeps serving. Then it stops the old one, waits for the port, and starts the new one on the same port. The gap is the new server's start-up, typically a few tens of milliseconds.
Removed
- The socket handoff: the
github.com/danielloader/flashpoint/listenpackage, fd-3 inheritance and theLISTEN_FDSvariables. Servers just bindPORT, so delete thelistenimport and usenet.Listenorhttp.ListenAndServe. - The browser-reload Vite plugin (
flashpoint-reload.ts) andFLASHPOINT_RELOAD_FILE.
Kept: build-while-serving, the old server staying up on a failed build, the go list watch set, the identical-binary skip, the TUI, SIGUSR1 / flashpoint reload [--wait] / the control socket, per-stream log files, and the 503 page while no server runs.
Changelog
- 1bc2815 feat!: plain stop-and-start restarts
