Simulation parameters

Every command that runs matches — headless, run and evolve — accepts the same set of simulation parameters. They control the rules of the world rather than how a particular match is scheduled.

Flag Default Description
--income <n> from defaults Strength each owned cell gains per tick
--neutral-defense <n> from defaults Strength neutral cells defend with
--start-strength <n> from defaults Strength of each faction's spawn cell
--max-strength <n> from defaults Maximum strength a single cell can hold
--jitter <f> from defaults Combat randomness, in [0,1)

Defaults come from the simulation's own default parameter set, so they stay in step with the engine rather than being duplicated per command.

Notes

--jitter is the only source of non-determinism in combat resolution. With --jitter 0 a match is fully determined by its seed, the grid size, and the strategies entered — useful when comparing two strategy changes and needing the difference to be attributable.

Examples

# A harsher world: slower income, tougher neutrals
hegemony headless --income 1 --neutral-defense 12

# Fully deterministic combat
hegemony headless --jitter 0 --seed 42

# Same world rules, watched live
hegemony run --income 1 --neutral-defense 12
