Test Network

The test network is comprised of two virtual machines running VyOS, with a single interface connected to a shared broadcast domain. On this interface, there are VLANs for subnets which will be shared using BGP, plus site-to-site VPN links. Both VMs will be administered using a serial console, so there is no need to have any management machine, but optionally a client can be attached to the broadcast domain and even tagged with a VLAN if necessary.

Rather than using hardware, I will be running this virtual network on my at-home hypervisor, which runs Proxmox, and currently has an internal bridge interface configured, which the routers are connected to.

The IP addresses are assigned as follows:

Device Interface IP Address
BGP-1 eth0 10.42.0.1/29
BGP-2 eth0 10.42.0.2/29
BGP-1 eth0.100 172.16.42.1/25
BGP-2 eth0.200 172.16.42.129/25
BGP-1 tun0 10.42.1.1/29
BGP-2 tun0 10.42.1.2/29
BGP-1 wg0 10.42.1.9/29
BGP-2 wg0 10.42.1.10/29
