What's new

Edit a suggestion before you use it. In the ⌥⌘K bubble, press E (or click Edit E) and the suggestion becomes editable right there. Keep the parts you like, change the rest, and press ⌘⏎ to replace your text with your version.

• ⏎ starts a new line. While Zhuyin, Pinyin or Boshiamy is composing a word, every key stays with the input method, and ⌘⏎ does not replace anything.
• esc ends the edit and keeps it. Press esc again to close the bubble.
• With Memory on, Lint learns from what you changed, just as it does when you edit a suggestion in the full panel.

The translation follows your edit. While you edit, the reference translation under the suggestion is updated about half a second after you stop typing. With Lint's local AI or Apple Intelligence this happens as you type. Other engines translate once, when you press esc, so they do not get a request at every pause.

Edit E sits with the other keys. The bubble's buttons are now Replace ⏎, Edit E, Rewrite R and Close esc. The pencil icon is gone, and the bubble can be a little wider so all four fit in every language.

「編輯 E」和其他按鍵放在一起。 浮窗的按鈕現在是「取代 ⏎」「編輯 E」「重寫 R」「關閉 esc」。鉛筆圖示已移除；浮窗可以稍微加寬，讓四個按鈕在各種介面語言下都放得下。

What's new

Observation mode (optional, off by default). Turn it on in Settings → Memory, with Memory on. After Lint makes a suggestion, it keeps reading that one text field until you send the text, and learns from what you sent:

• Words to leave alone. Put a word back after Lint changed it, and Lint keeps it from the next suggestion on. A change you looked at and sent without is remembered once that has happened twice.
• Your own style. If you keep your contractions (or your full forms), end a message without a period or start it in lowercase where Lint would have changed that, Lint learns to leave it as it is.
• Per app. In an app where you never use its suggestions, Lint stops preparing them on its own; ⌥⌘K still works there and turns them back on. In an app where you mostly use one tone, automatic suggestions are written in that tone, and choosing a tone by hand ends that.

What Lint reads this way is only compared in memory and never written to disk. It keeps counts, records without any text and short rules like the other memories; Settings lists what it learned per app, and every memory can be reworded or deleted. Secure fields and password managers are never read. Details are in SECURITY.md.

Idiomatic rebuilds a tangled sentence. A sentence that says its subject twice, puts its clauses in a confusing order or runs on is now rebuilt, and still sounds like you. Words in another language, such as a Korean product name or a Japanese file name, stay as written.

Proofreading starts in Idiomatic. Until you pick a tone, proofreading uses Idiomatic. A tone you picked, Preserve Tone included, stays.

"Nothing to fix" is said out loud. When Preserve Tone finds nothing to change, Lint says so and offers Idiomatic.

這樣讀到的文字只在記憶體裡比對，不會寫入磁碟。Lint 只保存次數、不含文字的紀錄，以及和其他記憶一樣的簡短規則；設定頁會列出各 App 學到的調整，每一條記憶都可以改寫或刪除。安全輸入框與密碼管理 App 一律不讀。細節見 SECURITY.md。

「道地」會重組結構混亂的句子。 主詞重複、子句順序混亂或一路寫到底的句子，現在會被重組，同時保留你的語氣。其他語言的字（例如韓文的產品名、日文的檔名）會照原樣保留。

校對預設改用「道地」。 在你自己選語氣之前，校對使用「道地」；你選過的語氣（包含「保留原語氣」）不會被改動。

「沒有需要修正的地方」會直接告訴你。 「保留原語氣」找不到要改的地方時，Lint 會說明，並提供改用「道地」。

What's new

Five tones instead of nine. The tone menu is simpler:

• Preserve Tone: corrects errors and leaves your wording alone.
• Idiomatic: also rewrites English that is correct but not what a native speaker would say, while keeping your voice.
• Formal, Casual and Concise: rewrite it in that style.

Translation offers Preserve Tone, Formal, Casual and Concise.

Write it in Chinese. Idiomatic, Formal, Casual and Concise now take Chinese too: they write what you mean the way a native English speaker would, always in English. This replaces the separate Native Speaker tones. Preserve Tone still edits only the English.

Mixed Chinese and English. A new choice in Settings → General decides whether such text is written all in English (the default, as Native Speaker did) or keeps its Chinese and has only its English edited.

Your saved choices carry over: Professional becomes Formal, Gen Z becomes Casual, and Native Speaker becomes Idiomatic (its Formal and Casual styles become Formal and Casual). Your prompt overrides keep working.

原本的選擇會自動沿用：「專業」變成「正式」，「Gen Z」變成「輕鬆」，「母語人士」變成「道地」（它的正式、輕鬆風格分別變成「正式」「輕鬆」）。你自訂的 prompt 也會繼續生效。

What's new

A new tone: Idiomatic. It fixes everything Preserve Tone fixes, and also rewrites English that is correct but not what a native speaker would say, while keeping your voice: a question stays a question, contractions or full forms stay as you wrote them, slang and emoji stay, and no greeting, hedge or stock phrase is added. For example, "Kindly revert back to me at the earliest." becomes "Please get back to me as soon as possible." It is in Proofread & polish only.

• An answer that changes your voice is retried once. One that still only sounds a little different is shown with a note; one that changes too much keeps your original.
• With Lint's local model the result appears all at once rather than word by word, because it is checked first.
• It does most with Lint's local model. Apple Intelligence changes much less with it.

Native Speaker with Apple Intelligence. Apple's model sometimes wrote notes about the text ("- The intent: …") or a numbered list instead of the rewrite. Lint now rejects those and asks again. Apple's model can still reply to the text instead of rewriting it, so under Automatic the Native Speaker tones use Lint's local model whenever it is set up. If you chose Apple Intelligence yourself, Lint keeps using it.

What's new

Three styles for the Native speaker tone. Besides the standard one, the tone menu now has:

• Native Speaker · Casual: relaxed, with contractions and everyday words, like a message to a friend or a colleague.
• Native Speaker · Formal: careful written English, like a business letter: complete sentences, no contractions, no slang.
• Native Speaker · Gen Z: short and texting-style, with a few abbreviations and a little slang. It stays plain when the message is serious (bad news, an apology, a formal request) and never adds emoji.

They work like the Native speaker tone: Chinese, English or mixed text in, English out, in Proofread & polish only. Each style keeps its own prompt (Settings → Prompt) and its own learned habits.

Good to know:

• A style can drift from your original, so read the result before you replace it. Formal can soften strong wording, and Gen Z once wrote "next season" for "next quarter".
• Casual is close to the standard tone on text that is already conversational.
• Apple Intelligence was not measured with these styles.

What's new

Native speaker tone. A new tone for Proofread & polish. Lint reads what your text means, in Chinese, English or both (even with mistakes), and writes it the way a native English speaker would say it: not a translation and not a correction. The answer is always English, and names, numbers, URLs, code and your layout are kept. Choose it from the tone menu in the panel, the menu bar, or Settings → Prompt. Translate does not have it.

Good to know:

• It works best when you check the result: the Chinese reading aid under the suggestion shows what the English says.
• Text that already reads naturally is usually left alone, but the small local model sometimes rewords it.
• Apple Intelligence was not measured with this tone.
