Release list
v1.3.3
Fixes
- Navigation pill position (#322). v1.3.2 lowered the floating Home / Library / Settings pill too far: on real phones it crowded the gesture bar. It now sits 14 dp above the system navigation area, just 2 dp lower than before 1.3.2, on both Android and iOS.
v1.3.2
Changes
- KOReader sync for custom OPDS catalogs (#318). Adding or editing a custom OPDS catalog offers an optional KOReader sync account again, and so does Settings › Reading sync, to share reading progress with the KOReader app. Its sync URL is pre-filled from the catalog's host (
/api/koreader) and can be edited. BookOrbit and Grimmory keep syncing through their own servers, and Gutenberg and Open Library have no KOReader sync, so the option isn't shown for them. - Lower navigation pill (#320). The floating Home / Library / Settings pill now sits just above the gesture handle, like other apps' bottom bars, and keeps a small gap above 3-button navigation.
Fixes
- KOReader sync URL: a custom catalog's default sync URL was built from its feed address (
…/opds/api/koreader). It now uses the catalog's host.

v1.3.1
Fixes
- Reader no longer crashes on a dark-mode switch (#307). Changing the phone's dark mode, font size or navigation mode while reading, or coming back after Android closed the app in the background, crashed the EPUB reader. EPUB, PDF and comics now reopen on the same page.
- Android 15 edge-to-edge (#306).
- The app no longer uses the window APIs Google Play flagged as deprecated.
- Status and navigation bar icons follow the app's own Light/Dark setting instead of the phone's.
- The crash-report sheet's Send report button and the PDF/comic page sliders no longer sit under 3-button navigation, and they clear the camera cutout in landscape.
- Readers follow the app's theme (#308). The PDF and comic readers now match the app's Light/Dark setting instead of the phone's. The "Page N of M" label is readable on every background, including dark-on-dark before.

v1.3.0
OPDS catalogs
Dexxicon can now browse OPDS catalogs alongside BookOrbit and Grimmory (#291).
- Add server → Server type:
- Project Gutenberg and Open Library are one-tap presets.
- OPDS catalog connects any other catalog, with an optional username and password (HTTP Basic).
- Formats: OPDS 2.0 is used first, with OPDS 1.2 (Atom) as the fallback.
- Browsing: a catalog's sections become Library entries, with covers, authors and search.
- Reading: open-access EPUBs open in the reader. PDF and CBZ/CBR files are offered too, but so far only EPUB has been tested.
- Sort and filter (#293):
- The Sort pill uses the catalog's own orders; for Gutenberg that's Popular, Newest and Title.
- A Filters sheet shows the catalog's filters, e.g. Open Library's Availability, Language, Media Type and Access.
- Book details:
- Gutenberg books are easier to read (#295): the summary instead of the raw catalogue record, "Jane Austen" instead of "Austen, Jane", plain dates, and no "N downloads" shown as an author.
- An OPDS book shows only what a catalog supports, which is Read (#298). Reading status, rating, offline copies and Highlights are for BookOrbit and Grimmory books.
Borrowing books (e.g. Open Library loans) isn't supported yet.

v1.2.2
Fixes
- Settings layout: switches no longer run past the edge of their card or overlap their text, row titles use one consistent size, and spacing between settings is even. Includes the Book Defaults screen, and holds up at larger system font sizes. (#285)
- Comics (and other formats) under "All libraries": the Library's format chips now ask BookOrbit for just that format, so comics show up even when a server has a very large library of other books. (#287)
- Series badges on Home: downloaded books now keep their series number, so the Downloaded shelf shows it even for a book you haven't opened yet. Books that only had the series name get the number filled in on the next sync, or when you open the book's page. (#282)
Series badges appear when Settings › Cover badges › Show series number is on.
v1.2.1
Fixes
- Works with BookOrbit 3.0. BookOrbit 3.0 changed the format of its dashboard lists. On a 3.0 server, Home showed a persistent " didn't respond properly" error, Continue reading/listening stopped refreshing, and On Deck came back empty. The app now reads both the new and the older format. (#283)
v1.2.0
New
- Highlights screen (EPUB): every highlight for a book in one list, with its colour, note, chapter, page and date. You can search it, and tapping a highlight opens the book right at it. (#266)
- Save a copy: a download button beside "Make available offline" saves the book file to Downloads, or to a folder you choose in Settings, on Android. (#259)
- Browse by library, series and collections: Library now has Books / Series / Collections tabs. You can browse each BookOrbit library separately, BookOrbit collections and smart scopes and Grimmory shelves are supported, and you can pin a collection to Home. Book detail shows a "More in series" shelf. (#253, #254, #256)
- Arrange Home: reorder or hide Home's shelves. (#255)
- Optional series number on covers, and a setting to turn off format badges. (#257, #252)
- "View on server" link on book detail. (#260)
- "Remove from Continue" in the long-press menu. (#251)
Fixes
- A server address typed without
http:///https://now falls back to HTTP when HTTPS isn't available. (#267) - Stale duplicate books in Continue reading are cleaned up. (#251)
- Opening a book no longer overwrites newer reading progress from another device. Books reopen where the server says you are. (#275)
- Highlights made in BookOrbit's web reader are now shown in the book, and tapping one jumps to it, on iOS too. (#274, #278)
- Highlights are clearly visible on dark and black pages. (#279)
- iOS: highlights are drawn in the reader again.
- The downloaded icon shows on Continue reading. (#258)
- No autocorrect in the server URL field on iOS. (#273)
Notes
- KOReader sync setup is hidden in this release while it's being reworked. Accounts already set up keep syncing. (#277)
v1.1.3
What's new
- Personal 1-5 star rating on book detail (#264) — rate a book on either BookOrbit or Grimmory/BookLore; reads and writes the server's own personal rating, so it stays in sync with each server's web UI. Multi-copy books (the same title on more than one server) write to every copy.
Includes everything from v1.1.2 (Settings > Report a problem).
v1.1.2
Restores the Settings › Feedback › "Report a problem" button, which had silently never worked
since Settings was unified into the shared cross-platform UI.
What's fixed
Tapping "Report a problem" now actually does what it's always claimed to: builds a zip of the
app's logs and opens your email app with your device details and the zip attached. Nothing is
sent until you hit Send yourself.
Closes #262.

v1.1.1
Fixes downloaded audiobooks not playing offline, on both Android and iOS.
What's fixed
- Continue Listening/Reading cards (Home) and cover taps in Library/Books did nothing at all in airplane mode for a downloaded book — no error, the reader/player screen never even opened (#248).
- iOS specifically: the original bug report — a downloaded audiobook still tried to stream over the network instead of playing the local file, so with no connection it looked "stuck" (showed as playing but never advanced past 0:00). This also affected EPUB/PDF/comic downloads on iOS the same way. Fixed the underlying local-file resolution, plus a follow-on fix so a downloaded audiobook's real title/duration/position display correctly while fully offline, matching the online experience (#250).
Verified
- Android: Continue listening tap while offline opens and plays immediately with the correct resumed position and duration
- iOS: downloaded audiobook plays correctly offline from both Book Detail and the Continue Listening shelf, with real title/cover/duration
- iOS: EPUB, comic, and PDF reading (online) re-verified unaffected by the shared code path change
