Here you can find relevant docs to the game, its systems, and--if I don't slack off--an explanation of its (probably nonsensical) codebase!
Asterium is a game I thought up while bored one day and decided to have a go at. Given the scope I'm picturing in my head, it's basically an endless project. The main idea is that the gameplay arises in interesting ways through the meeting points of various simulations of what I think it would be like to exist as some kind of entity in a spacefaring civilization.
As my current ideas stand, the player could play as a commander of a single ship/division of ships in some sort of space empire, captain of a spaceport/station (probably with the ability to control station-owned ships as well), or as the leader of an empire in a far-more abstracted version of the other modes, feeling somewhere between a 4X and an RTS. All of this occuring within a political, economic, chemical, and physical galaxy/collection of star systems.
Obviously, this scope sounds huge, because it is. I do not expect to finish even a quarter of this project, I'm just having fun here. If you, the reader, would like to have fun here as well and possess some skill in the Godot engine and with GDScript, let me know cause I have infinite work for you!!! If not, feel free to take what you want from the program, I just ask that you follow GNU GPLv3 terms and keep what you take open-source as well.
