Roadmap

The detailed source-of-truth roadmap lives in docs/roadmap/blockiverse_vr_execution_plan.md. This wiki page summarizes the current milestone shape.

Milestone Summary

Milestone Goal Result
M0 Repo, Unity, CI, ruleset docs, and rollback policy Project is buildable, documented, and checkpointable
M1 Quest VR foundation Movement, controller input, UI interaction, and block targeting are comfortable
M2 Canonical voxel core and registries Block/item/tool/resource IDs match the ruleset-defined game
M3 Canonical world generation survival_terrain, flat_builder, and void_builder replace temporary validation worlds
M4 Environment, vegetation, and structures Day/night, weather, biome vegetation, and generated structures exist in the canonical world
M5 Creative mode Creative catalog, placement/removal, world tools, menus, and save support
M6 Survival systems Mining, tools, inventory, crafting, stations, farming, containers, and survival stats
M7 Save/load, migration, and versioning Stable save schema, migrations, autosave, and recovery
M8 LAN multiplayer Host-authoritative co-op with canonical world sync, inventories, structures, and environment state
M8.5 Rendering and menu completion gate Chunk rendering/authored visual validation and menu/VR UI flows are complete before polish
M9 Audio, VFX, haptics, art polish Original feedback, ambience, weather effects, block VFX, UI sounds, and Quest-readable assets
M10 Quest performance and store candidate Performance budget, release APK, Meta release channels, and store submission package
Future features Later expansion Seasons, full survival expansion, and cloud private worlds remain outside the first Store / Early Access candidate until promoted

Current Product Target

The first playable target is a Quest-playable VR voxel world with ruleset-defined terrain, resources, registries, creative placement/removal, survival mining/crafting/inventory/storage, day/night and environment effects, biome vegetation, generated structures, save/load with migrations, LAN host-authoritative co-op, original audio/haptics/VFX, and Quest-readable menus.

Future Features

Future expansion is tracked in the execution plan so first-release scope stays bounded. Current future themes include seasons, full survival expansion, and cloud-hosted private worlds.

Promote future features into a milestone only after the first Store / Early Access candidate scope is stable and the roadmap is updated.
