Folio Wiki

Folio is a team wiki whose source of truth is a Git repository. People write in the browser, together, in real time. AI agents read and write the same pages. Documents, data tables, whiteboards, forms and files live in one tree, and every page is a plain file you can open in any editor. Folio is open source (MIT) and self-hosted: one docker compose up -d starts it.

This wiki is the practical guide for teams adopting it. For the full reference see the docs in the repository; for the product overview see foliowiki.online.

Who it is for

  • Teams leaving Confluence or Notion who want their content as readable files they own.
  • Obsidian users who need teammates in the same vault, without Obsidian Sync for everyone.
  • Product teams that keep docs in a docs/ folder and want writers to edit it in a browser.
  • Teams that want an assistant and agents working on the wiki, with the rights of the person who asks.

Not a fit if you need SSO or user groups today, a hosted cloud service, or serverless hosting. Folio needs a long-running server with PostgreSQL and Redis (limits).

Try it in two minutes

Open the live demo and pick Sam on the sign-in screen. The login is shared and the data resets every 24 hours, so enter no personal data. Git, import, tokens and the AI assistant are switched off there.
