Graph

The graph draws a space as a map of pages and the links between them, and it applies page access inside the query. A page you cannot open is never a node, a ghost or an edge, so the graph can look sparser to you than to an administrator, and it never hints that a hidden page exists. Added in Folio 0.3 and extended in 0.4.

Space graph

Open Graph, the row under Tags in the sidebar.

  • Nodes are pages, edges are links. Switch on Tags, Attachments, Unresolved links and Orphans to see them as nodes too. Orphans are pages nothing links to.
  • Tree structure (on by default) adds the page tree's parent-to-child lines, dashed, so a nested space shows its shape even without links.
  • Across spaces. A page of another space that you may open appears labelled "space / title" in its own colour and opens in its own space. The graph does not walk on through it.
  • Hover highlights a node and its neighbours; click opens the page (a tag node opens the search tag:x). Drag nodes, zoom with the wheel or a pinch. On a touch screen the first tap selects a node (a card with Open and Neighbours). Labels fade in as you zoom: hubs first, every name when close.
  • Settings (remembered per space): filters in the search grammar (words, tag:, kind:, status:, in:), colour groups (top folder, page kind, tag or your own query), display (arrows, text fade, node size by links, link thickness) and the layout forces.

Links count whatever way they are written: Markdown links, wikilinks, embeds, and the URLs Folio itself writes ("Copy link", /s/<space>/p/<id>, pasted page addresses on your own host).

Local graph

At the top of a document's right-hand panel, next to Outline and Notes. It shows the page and its neighbours 1 to 3 links away, following links out, in or both, with parent, children and siblings counted as neighbours. Use the Depth buttons and open it full size when you need room. Tables, boards and forms have no such panel: open their neighbourhood from the space graph.

What it is good for

  • Finding orphans and unresolved links (broken links), for example after a Confluence or Notion migration.
  • Seeing which hubs your wiki really has before reorganizing it.
  • Checking what a page sits next to before you restructure or delete it.

The same data is available to agents: the MCP tool get_graph returns up to 300 pages by default and 2,000 at most, and list_orphans and list_unresolved_links list the problems (Connect AI Agents).

Limits

  • At most 10,000 pages: in a bigger space the 10,000 most recently changed pages you can open are kept, and the view suggests the local graph.
  • No time-lapse, saved layouts or pinned nodes (positions are computed on every open), and no 3D.
  • No graph on public sites or share links.
  • Folder colours depend on how often a folder occurs in the current view, so a folder can change colour between the global and a local graph.
  • A link to the same instance under another address, share links (/share/...) and public-site addresses stay external links.
  • Tree lines are not links: they never count as backlinks.
