00 Sprint Boost Explained
Sprint Boost can be used to configure behaviors around the playing of Intellivision games on Sprint. Sprint Boost configurations allow for the following:
- Turn on Logging so can debug why a game may not be launching
- Set jzintv flags at a folder or game level
- Define Hotkeys for actions like Pause, Reset, Quit, among other Sprint Boost actions.
- Configure different screen layouts, size the game window, add other graphics to display.
- In game layout switching.
- Popup layouts let you show controller overlay images or other game aids in a quick glance mode.
- Use real-time game information to alter what is displayed on screen, so game information outside the game.
- Save high scores (and other play stats) to file.
- Realtime leaderboards showing past play's stats and ranking.
- Cheats.
Sprint Boost is a program that is loaded on your Sprint, using the standard update.zip process, that either passes on the to the built in Sprint emulator or "takes over" to allow for options outlined above. Sprint Boost can be configured to run in three modes (all Sprint Boost configurations can be configured at the folder or per game level):
- boost_mode off (default) = this is a pass-through mode that just forwards to standard Sprint emulator.
- boost_mode basic = this adds logging and jzintv flag setting and also passes game play to the standard Sprint emulator.
- boost_mode enhanced = full boosted experience with all the capabilities outlined above.
When you launch game, jzintv emulator is called.
By default, Sprint Boost will sit in between the frontend and jzintv emulator, you won't even know it's there in this mode. If you installed Sprint Boost and did nothing else, this is how it would operate.
Basic mode lets you turn on logging to debug issues, and define jzintv flags at folder or game level that will be passed on to the standard emulator.
Enhanced mode does not use the Sprint provided jzintv emulator, but uses its own modified jzintv emulator that enables the enhanced feature.
