• Notch height: Compact wings now follow the display's measured camera area instead of a fixed 28–32pt range. Both indicator lanes use the same measured height.

This preview is available as a manual download. Settings → Check for Updates continues to use the stable release channel. Existing preferences are preserved.

DMG and ZIP downloads are available for Apple Silicon on macOS 14 or later. The app has not been notarized by Apple. See the installation guide.

• Recent tasks across days: Recent conversations no longer disappear after 24 hours. Your selected count (0–5) applies to the latest available conversations, including after several days away or an app restart.
• Efficient history loading: Stops reading older logs once enough recent conversations have been found. Running tasks still take priority, and abandoned tasks are not revived.
• Custom text editing: Spaces at the end of a floating-bar signature are now visible immediately while typing.

Users on 0.2.1 or later can update through Settings → Check for Updates. Users on 0.2.0 or earlier should install this version manually. Existing preferences are preserved.

• Launch at login: Start CodexNotch automatically when you log in to your Mac. Enable it in General settings.
• More room for the menu bar: Choose Off under Left side to hide the entire left area. Quota details remain available in the expanded card.
• Clearer settings: Preferences are grouped into General, Appearance, and Floating Bar, with concise descriptions in English and Chinese.
• Floating-bar preview: Try all four center styles and running, idle, or completed states without connecting an external display.
• Independent animation control: The app's animation switch now works independently of the system's Reduce Motion setting. Disabling animations reduces resource use while quota and task status continue updating.
• Popup menu fix: Remove redundant Settings-window activation that could interrupt the language and recent-task dropdown menus.

Users on 0.2.1 can update through Settings → Check for Updates. Users on 0.2.0 or earlier should install this version manually. Existing preferences are preserved.

This update improves the everyday notch experience with smoother expansion and collapse, cleaner text, and a customizable center area.

What's new

• Expansion and collapse: Gentle hover feedback, a soft rebound as the card opens, smoother collapse, and a subtle shadow.
• Typography and spacing: Clearer text hierarchy and more breathing room. Text stays at its natural size during transitions to reduce visual jumping.
• Floating bar customization: Four center styles: personal signature, orbit, elapsed time, and light flow. Signatures support up to 12 characters and shimmer continuously during running, completed, and idle states. The preceding status dot has been removed.
• Icons and task titles: Better-balanced floating bar status icons. Conversation labels use the latest Codex task names, filter attachment headers, and display escaped characters correctly.

Settings apply immediately and are saved locally. Turning off animations or enabling Reduce Motion preserves clear static status indicators.

Fixes the floating bar disappearing when screen mirroring is enabled. When the primary mirrored display has no physical notch, the bar now appears at the top center and is positioned using that display's current dimensions.

• Retains the v0.1.16 fixes for five-hour quota, hover to restore after hiding, animation asset loading, and the wave ball at full quota.

• 180 tests and 67 behavior-contract checks passed locally.

• Real temporary-file integration checks measured approximately 122 ms from a start event write to notification and 121 ms for completion. This excludes Codex's own log-write delays and is not an end-to-end UI latency guarantee.

• Codex now shows its original white prompt on a black center, with a narrow flower outline matching the weekly quota ring's color.
• Running echoes follow the weekly quota theme. At 10% remaining or below, the outline stays red while the running echo uses soft neutral white to avoid a recurring red pulse.

• Restores the left status icon when the account does not return a five-hour quota window. Accounts that return this window continue to show its quota on the left and weekly quota on the right.
