UCM v3.2
UCM v3.2
Big update. 19 languages, ultrawide HUD centering, God Mode unlocked, and a bunch of fixes.
This is also likely the last major update for a while. Pearl Abyss has started adding camera accessibility settings directly to the game (v1.03.00), which is great. Some UCM settings (Steadycam, camera styles) will override the new in-game sliders.
What's New
19 Languages
Full localization with live language switching. Pick your language from the title bar dropdown -- the entire UI updates instantly, including sidebar headings.
Hello! / 안녕하세요! / こんにちは! / 你好! / 你好! / สวัสดี! / Halo! / Merhaba! / Cześć! / Ciao! / Hej! / Hei! / Hej! / Hei! / Hallo! / Bonjour! / Hola! / Olá! / Привет!
English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Thai, Indonesian, Turkish, Polish, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese Brazilian, Russian
Center HUD (Ultrawide)
New checkbox in UCM Quick to center gameplay HUD elements for ultrawide displays. Choose between 16:9 (1920px) or 21:9 (2520px) safe areas. Credits to wsres for the technique.
God Mode Unlocked
God Mode previously only showed ~185 "Player" camera sections. It now shows all 570+ sections in the game files -- gimmicks, mounts, dragons, cutscenes, minigames, world map, and more.
Security
- Path traversal fix in preset downloads (catalog filenames now sanitized)
- SHA-256 integrity verification on community preset downloads
Bug Fixes
- Sidebar headings now update instantly when switching language (previously required restart)
- Status bar text updates on language switch
- "by Author" label showing raw
Label_ByAuthorkey instead of actual author name - Changelog dialog showing raw keys on version upgrade
- Exported .ucmpreset files had hardcoded default settings instead of actual slider values
- Shoulder Cam community preset removed (incompatible with April 11 game patch)

UCM v3.1.2 - Hotfix
v3.1.2 Hotfix
Sacred God Mode values were not being included in Install or exports when on the God Mode tab. This fixes it.
The God Mode rebuild path was missing the ReapplyGodModeOverrides() call. Sacred values that matched vanilla were excluded and lost. Now all Install and export paths correctly include sacred values regardless of which tab you're on.

UCM v3.1.1
v3.1.1 Hotfix
If v3.1 was showing a tainted backup error on clean game files, this fixes it.
The v3.1 release added overly strict vanilla validation checks (ZoomDistance and RightOffset) that matched actual vanilla values, causing false-positive tainted backup errors for all users. This hotfix reverts to the original FoV and OffsetByVelocity checks only.

Note: This release has been superseded by v3.1.1 which fixes a false-positive tainted backup error. Please download v3.1.1 instead.
UCM v3.1
I'm proud to bring v3 out of beta with its first full release!
I've been speaking with the Nexus Mods team and v3.0.2 was successfully reviewed and accepted.
I'm providing them with v3.1 now and we should be on Nexus Mods shortly.
Thank you to everyone who's been providing feedback and helping shape this project. The Sacred God Mode system in this release exists because of your bug reports and suggestions. Special thanks to @sillib1980 for discovering the Lock-on Auto-Rotate fields.

What's New
Sacred God Mode Overrides
When you edit a value in God Mode, it's now permanently protected from Quick/Fine Tune rebuilds. The camera rule engine skips any field you've explicitly touched. Your values stay exactly where you put them, no matter what.
- Green indicators in the God Mode grid show which values are sacred
- Sacred values persist per-preset (each preset has its own overrides)
- Fine Tune sliders for sacred values show a green thumb and are locked
- "Sacred only" filter in the God Mode dropdown
- Works with vanilla values too -- if you set it, it's sacred
- Duplicating a preset copies its sacred overrides
- Colour legend in the God Mode description: White = vanilla, Gold = rules-modified, Green = sacred
Lock-on Auto-Rotate Toggle
New checkbox in UCM Quick: "Disable camera snap to target when locking on." Prevents the camera from whipping around to face a target behind you when you lock on. Credits to @sillib1980 for discovering the fields that control this.
Bug Fixes
- Full Manual Control presets not installing edits -- Install was using the original vanilla XML from preset creation instead of rebuilding from current God Mode edits
- God Mode overrides file polluted with CameraRules values -- now only saves values the user explicitly edited
- Fresh install showing upgrade overlay -- detection now runs before any file creation
- Tainted backup detection improved -- now catches all UCM installs regardless of FoV or Steadycam settings
- Tainted backup overlay on fresh installs -- previously showed a silent status bar warning, now shows the proper interactive overlay

Ultimate Camera Mod v3.0.2 Beta
UCM v3.0.2 Beta
Hey everyone, thanks for the continuous feedback, bug reports, and preset sharing. It genuinely helps shape where this project goes.
One thing I want to address: camera preference is subjective. What feels perfect to one person might feel completely wrong to 200 others, and that's fine. That's exactly why this release focuses heavily on giving you the control. I've taken a step back from trying to hand-tune camera values for everyone and instead built out the tools so you can dial in exactly what you want, and share it with others who feel the same way.
The Big Stuff in v3.0.2
Every popup is now an in-app overlay. No more janky Windows dialog boxes. Everything from preset browsing, import/export, new preset creation, and error messages now lives inside UCM as themed gold-bordered overlay cards. It feels way more polished.
God Mode actually works properly now. Your overrides persist across tab switches. Previously if you tweaked values in God Mode then switched to Quick Settings and back, your edits were gone. Now they're saved to advanced_overrides.json and re-applied automatically. 54 attributes also have tooltips now so you're not guessing what things do.
New Preset and Full Manual Control. When you create a new preset you now choose between "Managed by UCM" (curated quick settings) or "Full Manual Control" (God Mode, you own every value). This makes it clear what you're getting into upfront.
Community presets are a first-class feature. The catalog, browsing, downloading, and updating all live in the main app. If you've built something you like, export it and share it. That's the whole point.
Fresh install and upgrade paths are clean. v3.x users just replace the exe. v2.x users need a clean install (instructions below). Your presets and settings survive v3.x upgrades.
Still waiting on Nexus approval for the v3 page update. Will push there as soon as it's through.

Ultimate Camera Mod v3.0.1 Beta
UCM v3.0.1 Beta - Release Notes
Nexus Mods page temporarily unavailable - The Nexus Mods team is currently reviewing UCM's source code as part of their new-author verification process. This is a routine security check to confirm the mod is safe for the community. The review is in progress and I'm actively working with them. Downloads are available here on GitHub Releases in the meantime. Thank you for your patience!
First public beta of Ultimate Camera Mod v3.
Source code:v3-devbranch
Nexus: Ultimate Camera Mod
Clean install required
Remove any previous UCM folders from your game directory and verify game files via Steam before running v3.0 for the first time. v3 will auto-migrate any legacy .json presets on first launch.
What is v3?
v3 is a complete redesign of UCM built around an export-first workflow. Instead of writing directly to the game's PAZ archive as the primary action, v3 lets you tune your camera in-app and export a .json patch for use with mod managers - so your camera settings travel as a shareable file that anyone can import without needing UCM.
Direct PAZ install is still available as a secondary option for users who prefer it.
Export targets:
- JSON Mod Manager (PhorgeForge, Nexus mod 113)
- Crimson Desert Ultimate Mods Manager (CDUMM, Nexus mod 207)
Recipients of your exported .json do not need UCM installed.
Three-tier editor
v3 organises editing into three tabs so you can go as deep as you want without being overwhelmed:
| Tier | Tab | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | UCM Quick | Fast layer - distance, height, horizontal shift, FoV, lock-on zoom, centered camera, mount sync, steadycam. Live camera preview and FoV cone preview |
| 2 | Fine Tune | Curated deep-tuning in searchable bordered cards. On-foot zoom levels, horse/mount zoom, global FoV, special mounts and traversal, combat and lock-on, camera smoothing (Steadycam), aiming and crosshair position. Builds on top of UCM Quick |
| 3 | God Mode | Full raw XML editor - every parameter in a searchable, filterable DataGrid grouped by camera state. Vanilla comparison column with modified values highlighted. Expand/collapse all, per-state filtering |
Changes in UCM Quick sync into Fine Tune and God Mode so all three tiers stay consistent with the same session.
File-based preset system
.ucmpresetfile format - dedicated shareable preset files. Drop one into any preset folder and it just works- Sidebar preset manager with collapsible grouped sections: Game Default, UCM Presets, Community Presets, My Presets, Imported
- New / Duplicate / Rename / Delete from the sidebar
- Lock / unlock - UCM presets are permanently locked; user presets are toggleable via padlock icon. Editing a locked preset surfaces a toast instead of silently doing nothing
- Auto-save - changes to unlocked presets write back to the preset file automatically (debounced)
- True Vanilla preset - decoded directly from your game backup with no modifications, in its own "Game Default" sidebar group. Quick sliders are synced to actual game baseline values
- Import from
.ucmpreset, raw XML, PAZ archives, or Mod Manager packages - with optional author / description / URL metadata - Auto-migration from legacy
.jsonpresets to.ucmpreseton first launch - Active preset header - shows preset name, author, description, and a clickable Nexus link when the preset has one
Preset catalogs
Browse and download presets directly inside UCM. No accounts, no browser needed.
UCM Presets
- 7 official camera styles: Heroic, Panoramic, Close-Up, Low Rider, Knee Cam, Dirt Cam, Survival
- Definitions hosted on the
v3-devbranch withcatalog.jsonauto-generated by GitHub Actions - Definition-based architecture - presets stored as style definitions (style_id + settings), session XML baked locally from your game files + current camera rules
- Auto-rebake on rules change - when
UcmStylePresetRevisionis bumped, all UCM presets regenerate on next launch. No stale XML, no manual intervention - SHA256 update detection via
.catalog_state.jsonsidecar - pulsating update icon when the catalog has newer definitions
Community Presets
- Presets hosted on the ucm-community-presets GitHub repo, catalog auto-generated by GitHub Actions
- SHA256 update detection - direct file hash comparison against catalog. Pulsating update icon when newer versions are available
- Update prompt offers to duplicate the old version to My Presets before downloading
Want to share your preset? Export as .ucmpreset from UCM, then submit a PR to the community presets repo or send it to 0xFitz on Discord/Nexus.
Multi-format export
The Export for sharing dialog outputs your session in four formats:
| Format | Use case |
|---|---|
| JSON | Byte patches + modinfo for JSON Mod Manager / CDUMM. Human-readable patch region labels. Vanilla-guarded - Prepare is only available when your live game file matches UCM's vanilla backup |
| XML | Raw playercamerapreset.xml for other tools or manual editing |
| 0.paz | Patched archive ready to drop into the game's 0010 folder |
| .ucmpreset | Full UCM preset for other UCM users |
Includes title, version, author, Nexus URL, and description fields. Shows patch region count and bytes changed before saving .json.
Camera improvements in v3.0
Design philosophy: value edits only
v3 removes the structural XML injection features from v2 (extra zoom levels, horse first-person mode, horse camera overhaul with additional zoom tiers). Injecting structure has a much higher chance of breaking after game updates. UCM v3 modifies only existing values - same line count, same element structure, same attributes. This makes presets safer to share and more resilient across game patches.
Steadycam - massively expanded coverage
Steadycam now smooths 30+ camera states that previously had jarring vanilla snap transitions. Every section is individually tunable in Fine Tune > Steadycam.
Lock-on zoom (replaces Combat Camera dropdown)
The old "Combat Camera" dropdown (Default / Wider / Maximum) has been replaced with a Lock-on zoom slider:
- Range: -60% (zoom in on target) to +60% (pull back wide)
- Works independently of Steadycam
- Affects all lock-on, guard, and rush states
MaxZoomDistance=30always applied, preventing vanilla camera distance clamping
Lock-on distance scaling
Lock-on ZoomDistance values now scale dynamically with your chosen camera distance and style. No more jarring zoom-in when locking on at high camera distances.
New in v3.0.1
Preset system architecture
- Definition-based UCM presets - UCM presets in the repo are definitions only (style_id + settings, no session_xml). Session XML is baked locally from your game files + current CameraRules on startup
- UcmStylePresetRevision (v3) - bumped to force rebake of all UCM presets with fixed CameraRules
- UCM preset catalog with Browse button and GitHub Actions auto-generated catalog.json
- Community and UCM update detection - SHA256 comparison against GitHub catalogs with pulsating update icons
- Browse catalog redesign - cleaner card layout with description/tags on the left, Download and Nexus link buttons on the right
- Game Default sidebar group - Vanilla preset separated into its own group
- Raw byte downloads - community presets write raw bytes to preserve SHA hash for update detection
- Update preserves metadata - community preset updates preserve URL, author, and description
Camera rules fixes
- Fix game crash on load - removed
Player_Interaction_LockOnandInteraction_LookAtfromLockOnSections. Modifying these NPC dialogue camera sections caused the game to crash on launch - Fix game crash on load - removed unsafe byte-replacement fallback in ArchiveWriter that produced invalid XML
- Preview fix - camera preview and FoV now update immediately when switching presets
Tuned UCM presets
All presets tuned with mount camera sync enabled:
| Preset | Distance | Height | Shift | FoV | Lock-on | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heroic | 5.0 | -0.2 | 0.0 | 25 | 0% | Shoulder-level OTS with smoothed transitions |
| Close-Up | 3.2 | -0.2 | 0.25 | 30 | 0% | Tight shoulder OTS, cinematic framing |
| Panoramic | 7.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 30 | 0% | Wide filmic pullback, head-height, great for exploration |
| Low Rider | 5.7 | -0.8 | 0.0 | 25 | 0% | Hip-level full body view with wide horizon |
| Knee Cam | 5.0 | -1.2 | 0.0 | 25 | 0% | Knee-height dramatic low angle, action movie feel |
| Dirt Cam | 5.0 | -1.5 | 0.0 | 25 | 0% | Ground-level extreme low angle, intense and gritty |
| Survival | 3.0 | 0.0 | 0.3 | 25 | 0% | Tight OTS with offset, tense horror-game feel |
Style IDs renamed
- Old cryptic IDs (
western,cinematic,immersive,lowcam,vlowcam,ulowcam,re2) replaced with self-documenting names (heroic,panoramic,close-up,low-rider,knee-cam,dirt-cam,survival)
UI improvements
- Height slider range extended to -1.6/1.5
- UCM Quick layout - Custom Offsets and Global Settings side-by-side at top, camera previews side-by-side below
- God Mode SECTION column - auto-stretches to fit window width

Ultimate Camera Mod v2.5
v2.5 -- Critical Fix for European Locale Users
The Bug
v2.4 (and all previous versions) had a critical bug affecting users with European Windows locale settings (Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, etc.). When the mod converted camera values to XML, it used the system's regional number format. European locales use commas as decimal separators instead of periods:
- US/UK:
RightOffset="0.90"(correct) - European:
RightOffset="0,90"(broken -- game reads as 0)
The game's XML parser expects periods. Any value with a comma was read as 0 or truncated, effectively centering the camera or zeroing out height, blend times, zoom distances, and smoothing values.
Impact
This affected every formatted number in the mod:
- Horizontal shift values appearing centered
- Height/vertical offset not applying
- Zoom distances being wrong
- Blend times and smoothing values being zeroed
- Follow rates being zeroed
If you're a European user and the mod seemed broken or inconsistent, this was why.
The Fix
v2.5 forces InvariantCulture (period decimal separator) for all number formatting regardless of Windows locale. One line fix that resolves the issue for all affected users globally.
Also Includes
- Fixed game crash when using Advanced Editor (insufficient room for injected elements)
- All v2.4 features: proportional horizontal shift, horse camera overhaul, mount/aim consistency, version-aware backups, UI enhancements

Ultimate Camera Mod v2.4
v2.4 -- Proportional Horizontal Shift, Horse Camera Overhaul, UI Enhancements
Horizontal Shift Overhaul
- Proportional scaling formula -- replaces v2.3's flat delta. Character holds consistent screen position across all zoom levels instead of drifting toward center at ZL3/ZL4.
- Applies to all mounts -- horse (8 states), elephant, wyvern, canoe, warmachine (normal/aim/dash), broom. Each uses its own vanilla RightOffset baseline.
- Applies to all aim/interaction sections -- lantern, blinding flash, bow, weapon aim/zoom, ride aim, CTRL focus/interact, glide aim, freefall aim, throw aim, boss aim. Camera no longer snaps when activating abilities.
- Lantern aim baselines matched per zoom level -- ZL2=0.5, ZL3=0.8, ZL4=1.1, matching the normal camera. Eliminates horizontal snap on lantern activation.
Horse Camera
- All 8 horse states fully normalized -- uniform FoV (40), follow rates, blend times, damping, and velocity offset. Eliminates jolts during idle/run/sprint/dash transitions.
- Horse zoom levels ZL0-ZL3 explicitly defined -- vanilla only had ZL2/ZL3, leaving ZL0/ZL1 as centered engine defaults. Now all four have proper offsets.
- Horse zoom distance scales with Custom distance slider -- no more "too close or too far" on horse.
- Fixed phantom zoom level injection -- v2.3 was creating extra zoom levels that don't exist in vanilla, giving users "extra zoom" even with Extra Zoom unchecked.
- RightOffset flattened -- dash/dash_att no longer pull camera inward during sprints.
Version-Aware Backup System
- Auto-cleanup on startup -- if backup version doesn't match current app version, stale data is deleted automatically. Upgrading UCM always starts clean.
UI Enhancements
- Game folder path moved to header with folder icon button to open in Explorer.
- FoV preview is now distance-aware -- camera-to-player gap and horizontal offset update in real time.
- FoV cone enlarged for better visual representation at all FoV settings.
- Window is now resizable -- size persists between sessions.
- Horizontal shift tooltip and hint text explain that 0 = vanilla (char left), 0.5 = center.
- Centered camera tooltip clarified.
Troubleshooting
If the mod appears to have no effect, try a clean reinstall:
- Close the game and mod tool
- Delete your entire old UCM folder (backups, last_install.json, everything)
- Steam: right-click Crimson Desert > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity
- Download v2.4 fresh, extract to a new folder and run

Ultimate Camera Mod v2.3
v2.3 -- Horizontal Shift Fix + Quality of Life
Bug Fixes
- Fixed horizontal shift not working for most users -- v2.2 used flat absolute RightOffset values that fought against the game's escalating per-zoom-level offsets (ZL2=0.5, ZL3=0.8, ZL4=1.1). At slider -0.7, ZL3 and ZL4 were actually moving toward center. Now uses proportional scaling so the character holds screen position across all zoom levels.
- Slider is now delta-based -- 0 = vanilla position (not centered). Negative = character left, positive = character right.
- Fixed false "Centered" detection -- the status banner incorrectly showed "Centered" on vanilla and non-centered installs due to an overly broad regex.
- Fixed slider labels not populating on startup -- Distance, Height, and Horizontal Shift labels now display saved values when reopening the app.
Improvements
- Horizontal shift range expanded from -1..1 to -3..3 for better visibility on 16:9 displays.
- Status banner overhaul -- now shows your full install config (FoV, Distance, Height, Shift, all global settings) read from saved state, updates immediately after every install.
- Auto-switch to Custom tab on startup if your last install was custom.
- Updated tooltip for horizontal shift: "0 = vanilla position. Negative = character left, positive = character right."
Troubleshooting
If the mod appears to have no effect, try a clean reinstall:
- Close the game and mod tool
- Delete the
backupsfolder next toUltimateCameraMod.exe - Delete
last_install.jsonif it exists - Steam: right-click Crimson Desert > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity
- Reopen the mod tool and click Install

v2.2 — Steadycam Overhaul, Extra Zoom, Horse First Person
Ultimate Camera Mod v2.2
What's New
- Steadycam Overhaul -- Completely revamped camera smoothing system. Drastically reduces jolting and jarring transitions between movement states (walking, running, guarding, mounting, combat). Toggle on/off with the new Steadycam checkbox. Some minor jolts may remain -- the community can fine-tune these via the Advanced Editor over time.
- Extra Zoom Levels -- New checkbox to add two extra zoom-out levels. Scroll further out than ever before, on foot and mounted.
- Horse First Person View (Experimental) -- New checkbox to enable first-person camera while mounted. Scroll all the way in to see through your character's eyes. Works well at walk/trot but may clip during dashes -- a proper first-person mode would need engine support from Pearl Abyss.
- Horizontal Shift -- New slider (-1 to +1) to position your character left, center, or right on screen when using Custom style.
- Universal FoV Consistency -- Your chosen FoV now applies across every camera state. No more camera "breathing" when transitioning between guard, aim, mount, glide, or cinematic states.
- Skill Aiming Respects Your Camera Side -- Lantern, Blinding Flash, and all aim/zoom skills now keep your character on the same side of the screen as your normal gameplay. No more jarring side-swap when activating abilities.
- Import XML -- New "Import XML" button in the Advanced Editor. Load a
playercamerapreset.xmlfile from other mods and merge the values into your setup. Only accepts the camera preset XML format. - Preset Sharing -- Export and import custom presets as shareable copy-paste codes. Share your Distance/Height/Horizontal Shift setup with friends.
- Advanced Import/Export -- Export your Advanced Editor overrides as a string and import them back for granular community sharing.
- Smoother Transitions -- Guard release and horse mounting no longer cause sudden camera jolts. Blended over 1 second for a cinematic feel.
- Update Notifications -- The app now alerts you when a new release is available on GitHub. Never miss an update.
Improvements
- Advanced Editor: Expand/Collapse All -- New buttons to quickly expand or collapse all sections in the Advanced Editor grid.
- Advanced Editor: Stability & Performance -- Major stability improvements. The Advanced Editor no longer hangs during large operations. Improved responsiveness across import, export, reset, and filtering.
Fixes
- Fixed horizontal shift not applying correctly to custom style presets
- Custom presets stopped working, this is patched.
- Fixed Advanced Editor crash when using "Reset to Defaults"
- Fixed broken extra zoom level on horseback when horse extra zoom was disabled
- Fixed RightOffset normalization to prevent horizontal drift during walk/run/guard transitions
- Fixed guard release causing a disorienting zoom snap
- Fixed camera jolting when mounting/dismounting horses
Known Issues
- HUD Centering Disabled -- A recent Crimson Desert update added integrity checks to UI files. Modifying them triggers a Coherent Gameface watermark overlay. HUD X/Y controls are temporarily disabled until a workaround is found.
- Horse First Person clipping -- Dashing/sprinting in first-person on horseback can cause camera clipping. Experimental feature; proper first-person needs engine support from Pearl Abyss.
- Bow aiming with far-left camera -- When horizontal shift is negative (character on right side), bow aiming may briefly swap sides. Niche edge case.
