Color shapes within the library

Is it possible to be able to add a color to all different shapes in the library? Like red for box or orange to cilinder etc.

Every shape already gets a colour when you add it, a red box and an orange cylinder among them, but the little pictures in the library are grey, so you only see the colour once the shape stands on the plate. Do you mean that the pictures in the library should show those colours? Or do you want to choose the colour a shape gets when you add it, say every new box in your own colour? That tells me which of the two is missing.

Hi Stefan,To be honest i would like both. But the color of the pictures in the library woud be my preference. @bdeboer58, thank you, I built it: the button "Save as default" in the Properties panel now keeps the colour, too. Colour a cylinder green, save, and every new cylinder starts green; the other kinds keep their own colours, and "Reset defaults" gives the app's colour back. It comes with the next release.

The pictures in the library stay as they are, in grey: they are fixed pictures made in advance, and following a colour would take extra work each time the list opens, which also keeps the library light.

I'm glad you're keeping the Shapes in the library grreyscale. I always felt a bit embarrassed when using Tinkercad with all those bright primary-coloured shapes to the right of the Workspace. Felt a bit like sitting next to the toybox in a Kindergarten class! The greyscale images are much more elegant looking, and allow the focus to be on the shape without the distraction of a lot of colours.

This also ties in with my recent suggestion (#507) of allowing custom colours to be saved in the colour mixing palette, which along with the new option of permanently saving colours to shapes, would allow a user to create a full modelling colour scheme that better matches their design and/or personal preferences.

Goodmorning Stefan. Thanks fort he ability to change the colors of the shapes. When i change the color of lets say the cube to green and save them to be default, when i open a new project the color of the cube is back to red. @bdeboer58, thank you for trying it, and you are right to expect that. "Save as default" kept the values only in the design you have open, so a new design started with the colours of the app again. I changed it so that the button also keeps them in the browser: a new design that you start from the start page begins with the green cube, and "Reset defaults" takes the kind back for new designs too. It comes with the next release.
