  • A traced picture with many touching outlines comes in whole (#584): A black-and-white drawing traced from a picture (the guitarist of a second file) came in as a handful of pieces, about a fifth of its area. The kernel built the body well, but at a few corners where outlines meet it was left with an edge of four triangles, so the check threw the body away and the plain build, which leaves out any outline it cannot close, put in only fragments. When the first closing (0.05) leaves such an edge, the kernel now tries 0.1, 0.2 and 0.35 and takes the first body that is clean; the drawing keeps its 345 x 277 mm and all its outlines. • Chamfer + Round on a cone with a pointed tip rounds the right edge (forum, DrJones): On a cone that ends in a point, the foot came out as a round that ran straight down with a kink where it met the wall, and no chamfer on the plate. The tip of the wall is an edge of no length, and the check that tells the old wall from a new face failed on it, so the wall was taken for a new face and the edge between the plate and the chamfer was rounded instead of the one between the chamfer and the wall. That edge is now left out of the check; a cone with a tip gets the chamfer on the plate and the round into the wall, like a cylinder or a truncated cone. A very flat cone (a wall flatter than the 45 degree chamfer) still cannot take a chamfer + round, as the chamfer would stand steeper than the wall.

  • The knurl takes taper, lean and twist (#630): Taper, Twist & Lean were switched off for the knurl although its outline is pushed up like a star's or a capsule's. They now work on all three patterns. A straight or round knurl stays an exact CAD body: a taper and a lean are a loft of its outline, and its 45 degree chamfers are cut by a turned bound that narrows and leans with the body; a twist is a smooth loft through sections that follow the fineness of the grooves (7.5 degrees for few grooves, 90 / number of grooves degrees for more), because sections 7.5 degrees apart let the surface swing out 1.2 mm beyond the ridges at 16 grooves and 45 degrees of twist. A taper that differs across and along keeps the chamfered knurl on its display mesh, as the crossed (diamond) pattern always does. Tried with the kernel in the tapered-bodies e2e test: tapered, leaning and twisted knurls with and without chamfer, turned and mirrored, and twists up to 180 degrees with 30 and 60 grooves stay within 0.05 mm of their own radius; not looked at on screen. Asked on GitHub.

  • A chamfer along the straight side of a tapered rounded box is straight (#612): A rounded box tapered towards the top (a wider base than top) was built as one loft through its whole outline, so every side came out as a B-spline surface, flat sides included, and a chamfer or fillet along a bottom edge followed it: on a 100 mm box tapered to 80 mm the chamfer faces along the straight sides were up to 1.4 mm off a flat surface, visibly curved. A tapered outline of straight sides and arcs is now built piece by piece: each straight side a plane (checked to be flat), each rounded corner the ruled surface between its two arcs, and where the pieces do not close into one body the old loft is still the fallback. The box then has six plane faces, and a chamfer along it leaves flat strips. Tried with the kernel on the report's shape and in the whole e2e suite (375 tests, a new one for this); not looked at on screen. Reported by @Ynaught-42 on GitHub.

  • A stencil sheet with many fine holes imports again (#626): An SVG that is one sheet with a dozen fine holes (a paint stencil with bridges, drawn as one even-odd path) was refused with "SVG has no filled contours that can be converted into a solid". The step that parts outlines meeting in a corner (#584) left edges of four triangles on it, and the import took the body for broken. When that step does not come out clean, the outlines are now joined as they are; where that is no cleaner either, nothing changes. The sheet of the report imports with all its holes. Reported by @Rghezzi69 on GitHub.

  • Sketch points snap to the middle of a line and the centre of a circle, and a line can be drawn from its middle (#624): A new or dragged point in the sketch now snaps (blue ring) to the middle of every straight line, construction lines included, to the centre of every circle and rounded corner (the four arcs of a circle give one centre), and to the middles of the sides of a rectangular body shown underneath; before, only corners of bodies underneath and crossings of construction lines were taken. A point that is being dragged ignores the middle of its own lines. New: Line from the middle in the Draw group (also in the command search): switched on, the first click is the middle and the second the end, and the line goes on the same length to the other side, as two lines meeting in the middle point. Unit tests for the snap points; the guide has a new section in English and German; Czech and Dutch have the new texts, the other languages show them in English. Not tried on screen. • One entry for the countersink and the double countersink (#621): The shape library listed the countersink and the double countersink as two shapes, which are one hole with a cone at one end or at both. The library now lists only the countersink, and its properties have a switch Both sides that makes it a double countersink and back, with every measure kept. Bodies that already are a double countersink, in saved designs, the history, custom shapes and over the MCP, are unchanged and show the switch on; the command search still finds "double countersink". Guide (EN/DE) updated.

  • Interactive Help in the properties of a shape leads to the right part of the guide (#424): In the Properties, Rotation, Taper and Twist cards, a click on a field, a slider, the button that takes a value back to its default, the checkbox Keep proportions or Save as default and Reset defaults asked the guide for a word like "Length" or "Width" and landed in some section that merely used it. The properties, the taper and the twist of a plain shape now lead to the guide's section "The shape's settings", and the rotation to "Rotating and setting the pivot". The special shapes (thread, gear, knurl and so on) keep the answers of their own. Reported by @prmod3d on GitHub.

  • The snap grid menu lies over the other panels and scrolls on a low window (#616): The list of snap grids (Off, 0.1 mm ... Brick, "Snap to shapes") opens upwards from the corner of the Properties panel. Beside a pinned Shapes panel the upper entries lay behind that panel and could not be clicked, so the user had to shrink the Shapes panel to reach them. While the menu is open, the corner it belongs to now stands above the floating panels, and on a window too low for the whole list the menu scrolls (max-height, overflow-y: auto). Tried on screen with the Properties panel and the Shapes panel open: the menu is on top; not tried with the Shapes panel pinned next to the Properties panel as in the report. Reported by @grmonsey on GitHub.

  • The split tool draws a white line where the cut will go (#615): The translucent plane of the split tool showed the cut only as a surface, and where it really meets the body was hard to see. A white line now runs over the bodies to be split, wherever the plane meets them, as in a slicer; it follows the plane while you move or turn it. Bodies of more than 600,000 triangles get the plane only. Guide (EN/DE) updated. Reported by @jasonleshuk on GitHub.
