Choose a tag to compare

@thisShouldNotBeWorking thisShouldNotBeWorking released this 26 Aug 20:57

Release Notes — Blink 1.0.10

A focused fix release cleaning up several rough edges around breaks, the menu bar, and the mascot sidekick.

🔧 Bug Fixes

  • Cursor countdown badge — now stays readable over light backgrounds, instead of disappearing over white pages and documents on macOS 26
  • Mascot wheel hover — hovering now correctly highlights the mascot under your cursor, instead of always lighting up the same one
  • Mascot animation — Improved the blink and posture mascot animations
  • Hydration completion — the hydration card now plays its sparkle animation when you hit your daily goal
  • "Count as break" — now actually adds to your daily break count when you return from being away, and auto-reset does the same automatically
  • Long-break cadence — skipping a long break no longer turns every following break into a long one; the cycle now restarts correctly, and both the warning card and menu bar tell you when the next break is a long one
  • Menu bar light mode — Everything now read correctly in light mode theme instead of looking washed out or invisible
  • Break countdown timing — breaks no longer lose about a second to the entrance animation; the countdown now shows its full time as soon as the break appears

Blink 1.0.9

@thisShouldNotBeWorking thisShouldNotBeWorking released this 08 Aug 13:27

Release Notes — Blink 1.0.9

Blink's settings have been rebuilt — a new look you can make your own, and a proper
macOS sidebar. This update is required so auto-updates keep working.

🎉 New Features

  • Appearance themes — Pick from a light theme plus seven darks: Carbon, Ink, Graphite, Midnight, Slate, Warm and Mocha. Choose "System" and Blink follows macOS, using the light theme by day and whichever dark theme you last picked at night.

⚡ Improvements

  • Redesigned settings — A native macOS sidebar that collapses fully out of the way, a wider window, and pages that rearrange to use the extra space.
  • Consistent controls — The tab controls for appearance, break layout, alert position and the stats date range were each styled differently. They now look and behave the same everywhere.

🔧 Bug Fixes

  • Reminders froze after sleep — Timers now resume reliably when your Mac wakes, instead of leaving the break warning and cursor badge stuck on screen.
  • Your first break came at the wrong time — After setup, Blink used its default interval instead of the one you chose, so the first countdown was already part-drained. It now starts from your own settings.
  • Stats counted too many breaks — Blink and posture reminders were being counted as eye breaks, inflating your break count, compliance, wellness score, streak and heatmap. Past days are corrected automatically.

@thisShouldNotBeWorking thisShouldNotBeWorking released this 20 Jul 14:37

Release Notes — Blink 1.0.8

Mostly under-the-hood polish this build, with a few settings fixes.

⚡ Improvements

  • Consistent settings dropdowns — the sound, idle-time, and alert-timing menus now use the same hover highlight and behavior as the rest of the app.

🔧 Bug Fixes

  • Warning lead-time dropdown — now opens reliably when you click anywhere on it, not just part of it.

Blink 1.0.7

@thisShouldNotBeWorking thisShouldNotBeWorking released this 18 Jul 20:33

Release Notes — Blink 1.0.7

This release makes Blink yours from the first launch — a guided setup gets you going in seconds, and you can now pick who keeps you company during breaks.

🎉 New Features

  • First-run onboarding — a quick guided setup walks you through your break rhythm, wellness reminders, and smart-pause preferences before Blink starts.
  • Pick your Sidekick — choose a different companion character for your Blink and Posture reminders. Tap the mascot in Wellness settings to open a picker wheel and select who shows up.
  • Sidekick colors — give each reminder's companion its own color, right from the same picker.

⚡ Improvements

  • Smoother Break Studio — the styling preview no longer briefly stutters when the floating mini-preview slides in while scrolling.

🔧 Bug Fixes

  • "Back" button in Break Studio — clicks now register across the whole button instead of only one corner.
  • Manual water log — fixed the hydration "log water" field so entering an amount works reliably.
  • Force-update screen — cleaned up the layout so it renders correctly.

@thisShouldNotBeWorking thisShouldNotBeWorking released this 04 Jul 11:42

Release Notes

🆕 New Features

  • Liquid Glass design added — notifications and alerts now use Apple's new Liquid Glass style on macOS 26 (Tahoe), with a matching look on older macOS.
  • Custom Reminder live preview — new expand button shows exactly how your reminder will look on screen, full-size, without waiting for it to fire.
  • Theme picker redesigned — System/Light/Dark now a compact segmented control in General settings instead of large preview cards.
  • Blink & Posture preview banners — new fullscreen expand button for a real animated mascot preview.
  • Break overlay entrance animations — new drift-in animation for both layouts (Horizon + Gentle Bar).
  • Break Studio PIP preview — hover now shows a "drag to move" hint.

✨ Improvements

  • Adjusted default overlay durations: Warning 10s → 15s, Cursor 15s → 10s.
  • Wellness preview banner gets new background artwork.
  • Mascot overlay is now less intrusive — no longer dims or blocks the screen, so you can see what's behind it and keep working while it plays.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Custom Reminders: changing a reminder's interval now takes effect immediately instead of waiting for the next cycle; editing name/icon/color no longer resets the reminder's running countdown.

    every one.

Fixes & improvements

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when a break played its reminder sound.
  • Blink now runs natively on Apple Silicon — faster and more stable.

Note

  • Blink now requires an Apple Silicon Mac; Intel Macs are no longer supported.

@thisShouldNotBeWorking thisShouldNotBeWorking released this 25 Jun 06:08

Fixes & changes

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when a break reminder played its sound.
  • Fixed app updates sometimes stalling at 0% and only applying after a manual
    restart — a stuck download now recovers automatically.
  • Critical updates can now be enforced: users on outdated builds are required to
    update to the latest version.

Blink 1.0.2

Choose a tag to compare

@thisShouldNotBeWorking thisShouldNotBeWorking released this 24 Jun 22:25

Improvements

  • Break Studio: Added a floating mini-preview. When you scroll past the main
    preview to adjust settings, a scaled-down live preview now appears in the
    bottom-right corner so you can see your changes without scrolling back up.
    Drag it anywhere in the window to reposition.
  • Mascot overlay: The blink/posture mascot no longer appears oversized on
    large external monitors. Each size now has a sensible maximum so it stays
    proportionate on any display.

Fixes

  • Fixed the Settings window being draggable from anywhere in its body. The
    window now moves only from the title bar, matching standard macOS behavior.
