Power Source, Powers, Boosts and Limits
All items in Invincible can be have automations and active effects. This mean that there is not so much difference between them, except in some cases and where they will be presented on the character sheet.
Where your hero’s powers come from is explained by a power source.
If you start to add powers to a character without choosing the Power Source, it will show a (No Power Source Selected) message.
When you have only one Power Source, all Powers will be attached to it.
If you have more than one Power Source, you can select which Power Source a Power is related to editing the power, clicking on the three dots and selecting Power Source.
All heroes in this game possess superhuman capabilities called powers.
Powers is a common item which you can receive automations, effects, boosts and limits.
All Powers have a level. The system implements it in two different ways.
In some cases, the Power require different effect/configuration for each level. In those cases, it will receive the Level directly.
In other cases, especially attack ones, the big difference between the levels are the damage/range. In those cases, the system can use the (Dynamic) level. In Dynamic, the system will check which automations your character has access (based on the Show as Selection property) to define which is the highest level your character has.
Power levels are presented in the character sheet to make it easier to players to quick spot the levels.
If you see a "Check" or a "Circle" besides the name on the character sheet, this means that the Power (and same applies to Talents, Drawbacks, Equipment, etc) has an Active Effect that is changing the actor. A "Check" means that the Active Effect is enabled, while an empty "Circle" means that it is disabled. You can check more information about Active Effects on its page.
Boosts and Limits can change the Power itself. You cannot add a Boost or Limit directly to a character. To apply a boost/limit, you edit the Power and drag'n'drop the boost/limit to the Power sheet. This will create the boost/limit associated to that power.
Boost and Limits rely heavily on the Modify Roll Attack automation, as it can change the attack automations from Powers.
If you select the Auto-Modify, it will automatically change the data from the automation. If not select, it will present the Boost/Limit as an option before the roll to the player.
