FAQ

Which armor pieces are supported?

In theory, all armor is supported. The following armor mods/vanilla armors have been verified to work:

  • Vanilla
  • The Aether
  • The Undergarden
  • Epic Knights
  • Twilight Forest
  • Mowzie's Mobs
  • Vinery Mod
What happens to armor stats and attributes?

Everything, including enchantments, will be fully preserved. Only the visual appearance changes.

What happens to Armor Trims?

The armor's visual model, including Armor Trims, will be overwritten. As a result, trims will not be displayed.
※ To be more precise, the mod cancels the rendering of the original appearance and draws your custom design instead. It does not delete the original data, so reverting back to the original look is easy.

What is the current version support? Are there plans for other versions or mod loaders?

As of v1.0.5, Minecraft 1.21.1 is supported on both NeoForge and Fabric.
While plans for other versions and loaders are still being considered, we are prioritizing newer versions such as 26.1.
Community backports to older versions by volunteers are always welcome!

Is this mod required on the server for multiplayer?

Yes. Tailormade stores data on the server side and renders it on the client side, so the mod must be installed on both the server and client.

Is it compatible with other cosmetic armor mods?

Cosmetic Armor Reworked is a great mod for equipping cosmetic armor, and in fact, it works fantastically with Tailormade!
Once you tailor an armor piece with your preferred look using Tailormade, you can place it in Cosmetic Armor Reworked's cosmetic slots to wear your favorite outfit continuously.

Is it compatible with shaders?

We have confirmed that it renders properly using Iris.
Compatibility with OptiFine or Oculus has not been confirmed yet.

Can I create transparent or semi-transparent designs?

Yes. You can adjust transparency per layer during design, and pixels left unpainted will be treated as transparent.
This allows you to easily create effects like ripped or torn clothing!

What is the texture resolution?

Textures are composite images matching the vanilla 64 x 64 size.
The dimensions for each part are identical to vanilla player skins.

Could designs break due to different model types (Alex vs. Steve)?

Yes. Due to Minecraft's specifications where chest texture coordinates differ between Alex and Steve models, a design made for Alex may look distorted on a Steve model (and vice versa).
To address this, you can explicitly select the target model type when designing.

Can I share my custom designs with friends or back them up?

Yes. Please use the import and export features available in the Pattern Manager.

What file format is used for import/export? Can I import external images (e.g., PNG)?

The file format used for importing and exporting is .nbt.
Currently, there is no feature to directly import and apply standard image formats like .png.

Where can I check crafting recipes?

Recipes are automatically unlocked in your recipe book when you obtain the required materials (e.g., paper for patterns). You can also view them using recipe viewing mods like JEI.

How much dye does tailoring cost?

The cost varies depending on the colors used in your design. Generally, brighter/whiter colors cost more (since white requires maximum RGB values: R=255, G=255, B=255). By default, using one of each Red, Green, and Blue dye provides enough color capacity to tailor a few outfits.
You can adjust the dye cost multiplier in the config file or via commands.

Can I enchant an armor piece after it has been tailored?

Yes. It can be enchanted just like any normal armor piece.

Can I upgrade a tailored armor piece at a Smithing Table?

Yes. It can be upgraded (e.g., from Diamond to Netherite) at a Smithing Table just like standard armor.
