v1.5.0
Auto-motes — chat keyword → auto-fire an emote
Type a word in chat and emot3 plays the matching emote for you (e.g. type "lol" → /laugh). Set trigger words per emote in the Catalog tab; tune everything else in the new Auto-motes tab:
- Pick which channels are watched (local, party, map, squad, guild, whisper).
- Limit where it fires by map type — open world and/or instances (never in PvP/WvW).
- Off by default, with its own minimum interval on top of the global send throttle.
Requires the free "Events: Chat" addon (jsantorek/GW2-Chat) to read chat. Everything else in emot3 works without it.
Rebuilt emote catalog
The whole catalog was regenerated from the GW2 API + wiki, so names, commands, and unlock info are accurate and current — and it's now produced by a repeatable generator, so future game additions are easy to fold in. Each emote can now surface its wiki link ("Copy wiki link") and unlock item, right from the editor.
"When emotes can't be used" — your call, per Quickbar
Split into two clear pieces:
- General › Sending — the global block (mounted, airborne, and, with the RealTime API, swimming/downed/gliding/…) plus the airborne and precise-detection toggles.
- Quickbar tab — how this Quickbar shows a blocked state: Grey out, Hide the bar, or Show normally. Travels with each Quickbar preset.
🔧 Improvements
- Settings survive updates. Your
settings.jsonand emote catalog now migrate forward automatically instead of resetting when the format changes. - Smoother & lighter. Catalog, Quickbar, and palette rendering were reworked to cut per-frame hitches, especially with large catalogs and the /me-motes editor.
- More reliable. Fixed a crash that could occur when reloading the addon, and "Events: Chat" is now detected the instant it loads (no more waiting for your first message).
- Polish. Tooltip and wording cleanups across the options, plus refreshed English and German translations.
➕ Plus
- Opt-in "Notify about preview / beta builds" so Plus users can hear about new betas.
v1.4.1
What's new
A maintenance release — no new features, and the addon plays the same in-game, with one reliability fix:
- More reliable emote sending under Linux/Proton. Chat open/close now waits on the game's actual state instead of fixed delays, so emotes are less likely to drop or garble under Wine — and it's a touch snappier on Windows too.
Under the hood (no user-facing change):
- Build system unified on CMake — Linux contributors can now build emot3 natively via MinGW-w64 cross-compile, with a CI gate that keeps every build Wine-safe (static CRT, no stray runtime imports).
v1.4.0
New: the Palette
A keybound type-to-send popup — a few letters, Enter, sent.
- Suggests your most-used emotes while the search is empty
- Tab cycles a result's send variants (target / sync / You / All)
- Your favorites category names work as search terms — typing "soc"
lists everything in "Social" - Fully configurable in its own Options tab: position, size, grow
direction, background opacity, compact rows, Enter & Esc behavior
Open it via the "Toggle Palette" keybind (Nexus > Keybinds), the
quick-access icon, or the P button in the Library.
Plus build
- Send while moving v2 — sending stops autorun for you and the
emote plays; mouse-walking refuses cleanly. One rule: a send while
moving stops your character, you resume yourself.
Fixes
- Deleted emotes / me-motes no longer leave orphaned keybinds in
Nexus' list - Library search filters from the first character
v1.3.2
What's Changed
- PvP / WvW: emotes are now disabled in competitive modes. Sending is blocked
everywhere, the Quickbar hides, and the Library shows a banner explaining why.
Everything returns automatically when you leave the match. - Crash fix: a malformed or hand-edited RadialMenus pack file could crash the
game at load — broken packs are now skipped and logged instead. - Polish: fewer unnecessary settings writes, German radial-wizard labels,
duplicate emote-id warning at catalog load.
v1.3.1
Packaging release for the Raidcore Nexus library listing
v1.3.0
Category options
The Quickbar now has four built-in categories you can opt into alongside your own favorites: Core, Unlocked, Recently used, and Frequently used. Toggle each one under Options > General.
Keybinds
Bind any emote or /me-mote variant as a Nexus keybind — fire it from a hotkey or let a RadialMenus wheel invoke it without you holding the key. Assign a non-printable key (F-keys work great); letters and numbers are unreliable even with modifiers. emot3 Plus removes that restriction.
RadialMenus export
Export a favorites category as a wheel for the RadialMenus addon. emot3 packages the wheel and icon files; copy them into RadialMenus and click "Reload radials", then bind a key to the wheel in RadialMenus' keybind settings. emot3 registers per-item keybinds automatically — only the wheel key needs binding.
emot3 Plus gets a Sync button on each wheel that pushes changes directly into RadialMenus, so no manual folder copy is needed.
Airborne detection rework
The jump/fall gate now uses a vertical ballistic model instead of the old speed heuristic. It catches the rise of a jump (not just the fall), and no longer triggers on stairs or running on flat ground. There's a new Block while airborne toggle under Options > General — what happens when blocked (grey out / hide / nothing) is still controlled by the existing setting above it.
v1.2.2
What's Changed
Clean up around config saves
v1.2.1
Fixed: German localization: de.json used curly quotes ("…") as JSON string delimiters on the opt.mm.* keys, making the file invalid JSON and breaking the German emote-menu text in v1.2.0 — v1.2.1 swaps them for straight quotes so the locale parses again.
v1.2.0
New
- /me emotes — write your own free-form
/mechat lines. Each one can carry separate text for the default, self, and party views. - Custom icons — assign any bundled icon or your own PNG to an emote or
/meemote, chosen from an in-app icon grid or youricons/folder. - Icons update without restarting — assignments take effect immediately, and a Refresh button reloads an edited icon file in place.
Fixed
- Fixed a crash when choosing an icon file with an unusual name.
- Saves are now crash-safe — a crash mid-save no longer empties your emote catalog or settings.
- Scroll-edge hints and the refusal-line overlay now respect window stacking order.
v1.1.2
What's Changed
Fixed: follow-up to v1.1.1 — typing in the game's own chat / mail / TP-search boxes no longer greys or hides the Quickbar (most noticeable with close chat on send). emot3 was counting those keystrokes as held movement keys.
