HingeGlass Windows 0.2.2 Preview

• Remember live desktop, sensor-follow preference, angle controls and selected display across application restarts.
• Pause desktop capture while locked or asleep, retaining the enabled setting. Resume after unlock/wake when the desktop and restore shortcut are available; sensor mode requests a fresh reading first.
• Manual disable, Pause and restore, Escape and Ctrl+Alt+Escape keep the effect off.
• Ignore stale capture failures from a previous paused session.
• Lock-screen effects are not supported. No new angle sensor support is added.

Includes the portable x64 ZIP and branded Setup with selectable installation folder. Windows 10 version 2004+ / Windows 11 x64. This remains an experimental preview.

Validation: Windows CI builds both packages and exercises live capture, pause/resume state transitions, settings persistence, manual restoration, installation and uninstallation. Physical laptop sleep/lock and sensor behavior still require device testing.

Adds a continuous Transparency slider (0–100%) for the glass background. Text and controls remain opaque. The setting persists across launches and works with System, Light and Dark appearance. Enable Glass background to adjust it; macOS Reduce transparency takes precedence.

0% keeps the full frosted material; 100% makes the background fully clear. The lid effect is unchanged.

Requires macOS 14 or later and an Apple silicon MacBook with a compatible lid-angle sensor. This build is ad hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. Desktop mode needs Screen & System Audio Recording permission, which macOS may request again after updating.

The effect adapts Macbook_Duo_Effect by Ruixiang Huang under MIT; full third-party notices are bundled.

This build is ad hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. Review any macOS security prompt before opening. The Desktop scene requires Screen & System Audio Recording permission; reopen the app if prompted.

Use Restore or Control–Option–Command–Escape to restore the desktop. Screen frames stay in memory; the app does not record audio or save or upload screen footage.

HingeGlass Windows 0.2.1 Preview

Windows 0.2.1 adds a selectable installation folder to the animated Setup. Edit the full path or click Change… to choose a parent folder. The default remains the current user’s LocalAppData/Programs/HingeGlass. The destination must be writable without elevation. Installation, launch and uninstall use the selected path.

Windows 0.2.1 experimental preview adds live desktop effects and a compatibility monitor.

• Select a display, lower Manual angle below Start angle, and enable live desktop. Follow lid angle is available when valid sensor readings arrive.
• The desktop is continuously captured in memory using a bounded GDI capture path (maximum 1600px wide, at most 30 captures/s). WPF applies perspective, uniform blur and dimming. This is not the Mac GPU capture pipeline and performance varies.
• Settings and the overlay request Windows capture exclusion. The settings remain clear and independently interactive. Desktop clicks pass through at original coordinates; perspective does not remap input.
• Ctrl+Alt+Esc restores globally. Pause and restore, expansion, sleep, session lock, display changes and capture failure remove the overlay. Expansion keeps live mode armed; other interruptions require enabling again.
• Compatibility monitor shows angle history, event rate, longest gap, large steps and render callback rate. Event-driven sensors may stop sending while stationary. Readings do not constitute certified hardware support.
• Copy diagnostics includes software/OS and measurements, not serial numbers, screen frames or files.

ZIP and animated Setup are both supplied. Windows 10 2004+ / Windows 11 x64. Unsigned, experimental. HingeGlass Windows 0.1.4 Preview

Windows Preview 0.1.4 introduces a custom animated Setup: floating glass icon, softly moving light, large typography, smooth stage transitions, installation status and a completion screen. The underlying installer/uninstaller remains per-user Inno Setup.

Download Setup.exe and click Install HingeGlass, then Open HingeGlass. A Start menu shortcut is created; administrator access is not required. ZIP portable download remains available alongside Setup.

Windows Preview 0.1.2 adds an English Setup installer with the HingeGlass icon and brand name.

Recommended: download HingeGlass-0.1.2-Windows-x64-Setup.exe, double-click, and follow the wizard. Installs for your Windows user account without administrator access. Start menu shortcut included; desktop shortcut optional. Uninstall in Settings → Apps.
