MS7 - Value Prop & Native UI

1. Value Proposition

Base Value Proposition

For people who feel stuck in a routine or don't want to try new activities alone, Wandr is a gamified discovery app that turns nearby places into quick, social "quests," unlike Google Maps or Instagram, which only show places but don't help you decide, plan, or find people to go with.

How Smart Features Generate Value

Wandr uses smart features to reduce the effort required to discover activities and make recommendations more relevant to each user's context.

Smart Feature How It Generates Value
Smart filtering by proximity, time, interests, and energy level It combines the user's context and preferences to reduce the number of irrelevant options and surface activities that realistically fit their location, schedule, and current energy. This makes discovering a new activity faster and reduces decision fatigue.
Personalized quest recommendations It uses the user's previous activity history, saved quests, ratings, and categories to recommend activities aligned with their demonstrated interests. This creates a more relevant discovery experience without requiring users to search across multiple platforms.
Mystery Quest discovery engine It selects a suitable activity from the available quests based on the user's current context and preferences. By removing the need to decide between many options while allowing the user to accept or skip the suggestion, it makes trying something new feel easier and more spontaneous.

How CAS Features Generate Value

Wandr also incorporates Complex Adaptive System (CAS) features, where interactions between users, activities, and the system can continuously influence the experience.

CAS Feature How It Generates Value
Buddy system / friend map Users can interact by showing interest in activities and inviting others to join. These interactions help users find potential companions for quests, reducing the barrier of trying new activities alone and making discovery more social.
Gamification and reward loop Completing quests generates points, streaks, and achievements, which provide feedback to users about their progress. This feedback encourages continued participation and motivates users to keep exploring new activities instead of returning to the same routine.
Community-driven quest ratings and reviews Users contribute ratings and reviews after completing activities. This creates a feedback loop in which user experiences provide information for other users when choosing quests and generate data that can help improve future recommendations.

2. UI/UX Design

Colour Palette

Primary #163820
Secondary #5A7B62
Tertiary #BFA78A
Neutral #FCFAF6

Rationale:

Emotional and Brand Reasoning: The app aims to solve routine fatigue and the stress of planning activities. Serene greens and earthy tones convey calmness and a low-effort experience, helping to reduce users' decision paralysis.

Target Audience Alignment: The deep green projects reliability and safety, directly addressing user anxieties about trying new activities alone or concerns about street security.

Contrast and Accessibility: The neutral off-white creates a clean background that prevents visual clutter on information dense screens like interactive maps and quest detail cards. Using the deep green for text and core interface elements ensures high contrast and strong legibility for users navigating on the go.

Typography Catalog

Style Font Weight Size (pt/sp) Usage
Headline Large Inter Bold 32 Home screens, main profile greetings.
Title Large Inter SemiBold 22 Quest titles in the activity feed or detail view.
Title Medium Inter Medium 16 Category names, secondary section headers.
Body Large Inter Regular 16 Full event and activity descriptions.
Body Medium Inter Regular 14 General text, user review summaries.
Label Large Inter Medium 14 Primary action buttons like "Accept Quest" or "Navigate Now".
Label Small Inter Medium 11 Secondary metadata (distance in km, reward points, energy level).

Rationale

Legibility: Inter was designed specifically for user interfaces and screen reading. Its tall x-height and optimized spacing ensure that small text remains highly legible. This is crucial when the user needs to quickly scan critical details like prices, schedules, and distances while navigating the city.

Personality: It is a neutral, clean, and modern typeface. This neutrality allows the color palette and the promotional event photography to capture the user's attention without creating visual clutter. It conveys efficiency and clarity, aligning with the goal of reducing decision fatigue and making planning a low-effort process.

Platform Consistency: The proposed weight and size structure integrates directly with Material Design guidelines. This makes it easier to create clear hierarchical interfaces on information-dense screens, such as interactive maps or the achievements dashboard, ensuring the app feels native, predictable, and easy to navigate.

Icons and Images

Aside from the default icons for features given by IOS and Android, it was proposed to use this logo as a temporary icon for the app.
