Crop Farming: The Heart of Your Farm! 🌾🌱

Welcome to the wonderful world of farming! Mastering the land is one of the most rewarding parts of being a Farmhand. From the first seed you plant to the final harvest, every step is a journey of growth and dedication. Here’s everything you need to know to turn your dirt into a bountiful garden!

🌱 Planting & The Lifecycle of a Crop

Every delicious food item starts as a tiny seed. Here is how your crops make their way from the soil to your basket:

1. Planting

To begin, you'll need to select a seed (like a Carrot Seed) and place it in an empty plot. Once planted, your seed transforms into a living crop!

2. Growth Stages

Crops don't just "grow" instantly; they progress through different stages of life:

  • Seed: The very beginning! Your crop is just waking up.
  • Growing: This is the most active stage. Your crop will go through several "growing steps." Each step represents a bit of progress toward maturity.
  • Grown: Congratulations! Your crop is fully mature and ready to be harvested.

3. How Growth Works

Growth is powered by two things: Time and Water.

  • Days Old: Every day that passes, your crop gets a little older.
  • Days Watered: This is the "energy" your crop uses to progress through its growth stages. Each crop has a specific "Timeline" (for example, a Carrot needs 5 days of watering to reach maturity).

💧 Maintenance: Keeping Your Garden Happy

A thirsty crop is a sad crop! To keep your garden thriving, you need to provide regular care.

Watering

To keep your garden thriving, you need to provide regular care! You can water your crops efficiently using the range system.

  • Watering: Instead of watering one by one, you can select a plot and use the Range Slider to determine how many surrounding plots to water at once. The action is applied in a square radius around the plot you've selected.
  • Efficiency: By adjusting the range slider, you can quickly refresh large areas of your field with a single click!

Fertilizing

Want to speed things up? Fertilizer is your best friend!

  • Standard Fertilizer: Helps your crops grow a little bit faster by giving them a bonus to their "Days Watered" every day.
  • Rainbow Fertilizer: A special premium fertilizer obtained from Rainbow Cows. While it provides the same growth bonus as Standard Fertilizer, it comes with some unique perks:
    • Automatic Replanting: When you harvest a crop from a rainbow-fertilized plot, it will automatically replant the same crop if you have the seeds in your inventory!
    • Storm Protection: If a scarecrow is placed on a plot with Rainbow Fertilizer, it will be automatically replaced by a scarecrow from your inventory if it would otherwise be destroyed by a storm.
    • Versatility: It can be applied to both your crops and your scarecrows.
    • Range Control: Like watering, you can use the Range Slider to apply fertilizer to multiple plots at once.

✂️ Harvesting & Tools

When your crops reach the Grown stage, it's time for the best part: the harvest!

  • The Harvest: Use your Scythe to collect your mature crops.
  • Tool Upgrades: Not all Scythes are created equal! As you upgrade your Scythe, you'll notice a bigger reward for each harvest.
    • Bronze: +1 extra yield
    • Iron: +2 extra yield
    • Silver: +3 extra yield
    • Gold: +4 extra yield
    • Tip: Investing in a better Scythe early on can significantly increase your profit over time!

🐦 Protection: Crows & Scarecrows

Even the best farmers have to deal with pesky visitors. Crows can occasionally fly by and damage your hard work!

Crows

Crows have a chance to appear and might destroy your crops. It’s a constant challenge, but don't worry—there’s a way to keep them away!

Scarecrows

Scarecrows are your first line of defense.

  • Placement: You can place a scarecrow on an empty plot.
  • Protection Zone: Once a scarecrow is placed in a field, it protects that entire field! Crows will no longer destroy crops in a field that has a scarecrow.
  • Rainbow Protection: Applying Rainbow Fertilizer to a scarecrow ensures it will be automatically replaced by one from your inventory if it is destroyed by a storm.

💡 Farmer's Tips for Success

  1. Water Regularly: Make sure you're watering your crops every day to keep them progressing through their growth timeline.
  2. Fertilize for Speed: Use fertilizer on your most valuable crops to get them to the "Grown" stage faster.
  3. Upgrade Your Tools: Don't settle for a basic scythe! The jump from Bronze to Gold adds up quickly when you're harvesting large fields.
  4. Stay Protected: Always keep a scarecrow handy to ensure that a passing crow doesn't ruin your day's hard work.

Happy farming, Farmhands! May your fields be green, your water be plentiful, and your harvests be plentiful! 🚜🌾
