Version History
This page records public versions and selected shipped development slices, newest first, using the repository's release feeds, notes, tags and shipped records.
The current public app version is 1.0.0. A shipped slice is an implementation record, not necessarily a new public release. Work recorded after the 1.0.0 publication date must not be assumed to be in that download. A date taken from a Git tag is identified as such when no corresponding root release notes are present.
The shipped record introduces Name from Structure with the optional, explicitly installed Orthonym engine and its separate official plugin. The host reads each candidate name back through OPSIN and shows it only when the supported identity comparison matches; otherwise it declines.
Plugin API 0.1.7 adds structureToName and a chemicalName report section. Installation uses the movable native engine-install dialog. Intel Macs report the engine unsupported. This record is newer than the 1.0.0 feeds; it is not a claim that the published 1.0.0 artifacts contain it. Headless structure-to-name remains parked in PLANS.md.
The Git tag, macOS appcast.xml and Windows latest.json identify 1.0.0 on this date. Root ChemDraft_1.0.0_aarch64.md and the Windows feed's notes describe:
- Multiple document tabs with recovery and per-document save associations.
- Movable Export and Custom Page Size windows, plus native confirmation boxes.
- Optional export preview/size presets and an optional save prompt before quitting, both off by default.
- Abbreviation labels counted as chemistry, improved group anchoring and label editing.
- Drawing fixes for drags, erasing, cancellation, ring-valence admission and overlapping rings.
- Better agreement between canvas and exports, PDF font coverage and bounded raster rendering.
The platform notes differ. macOS notes describe quit-session saving and opening files while the app is closed. Windows notes describe NMR plugin operation, quit behavior, the last-tab Ctrl+W path, modifier labels and retries for briefly locked save files. These are release-note claims, not new cross-platform verification performed for this page.
The export-preview shipped entry also carries this date. Its shared dialog form provides size, DPI, crop and background controls when the preference is enabled.
An opt-in quit preference prompts for dirty documents and keeps the app open after cancellation or failed saving. Follow-up notes dated October 14 and 19 describe shutdown safeguards and native message-box presentation. Session retention remains distinct from explicitly saving a document file.
Several documents share one document window, with independent selection, history, file state and viewport. Session restoration accepts older single-document sessions. The plugin runtime remains persistent through tab switches. Later 1.0.0 notes cover additional recovery behavior; the initial slice is not the whole current tab contract.
Abbreviation labels gain shared chemical readings, validation and expansion for formula and structure output. Labels typed on bonded atoms can attach as substituents through a shared valence decision. Label anchoring moves the grammar into layout-engine and aligns displayed groups with their attachment atom without changing stored chemistry.
Ring placement gains a result-based admission check to avoid over-filling existing atoms. The records explicitly retain limitations, including unsupported label conversions and pending native hands-on checks for some slices. Do not read “shipped” as proof that every platform interaction was manually exercised.
The record covers angle snapping, drag previews, label-input continuity, centered double bonds and chemistry-aware label editing. It also records pending Windows hands-on verification. The dated implementation entry and later release summary serve different purposes.
The tag, appcast and root notes agree on this version/date. The notes describe analyzer notices explaining unavailable actions, clearer SMILES-paste errors, refusal to invent radicals in an unsupported fallback reading, refusal to export unknown bonds as single bonds, and less RDKit startup work when Spin 3D uses OpenChemLib.
The tag, appcast and root notes record user-reviewed bug/crash-report email drafts, macOS drawing-focus restoration after hiding the app, and a plain stable window title. Reports are not sent until the user sends the email.
The tag date and root notes identify the first Windows release for Windows 10/11 x64. The notes cover the per-user installer/updater, large-drawing performance, bounded undo history, CDXML groups/dative bonds, shortcut fixes, plugin label readings and toolbar startup.
An older September 26 Windows-port entry still says its branch was not merged. That is a historical snapshot, superseded for public-release status by these later release notes. It should not be repeated as current Windows availability.
The repository has a 0.3.6 tag dated September 27, but no root ChemDraft_0.3.6_aarch64.md in this checkout. No standalone feature list is inferred from the tag.
Shipped records on this date separately describe the headless document core and explicit CLI plugin trust, plus shared Kekulé aromatic-bond counting. CLI and MCP stop importing desktop document logic; external headless plugin loading requires the user's trust-file listing.
The shipped record and tag describe label-edit focus hardening and command-routed Undo/Redo, including correct routing between text editing and drawing history. This entry records fixes released that day rather than attributing every later native change to 0.3.5.
The CLI and local MCP server expose headless rendering, reaction schemes, analysis, naming input, stereo inspection, NMR and export through the shared chemistry stack. Subsequent document-building and rendering operations expanded the toolkit; consult Agent Tools Overview for the current inventory rather than its original tool count.
The tag dates 0.3.4 to this day, alongside a shipped download-site record. No separate root notes for this version are present here, so this page does not assign it an invented feature list.

| 2026-08-02 | 0.3.1; toolbar/palette/arrow fixes | Tag and shipped record; tool-drawn arrow families move to art graphics with compatibility tags |
| 2026-07-30 | Analyzer/property-suite closeout | Dedicated shipped document records its verified closeout; not a new public version claim |
| 2026-07-26 | 0.3.0 | Tag date; later records identify it as an early published macOS version |
| 2026-07-25 | Toolbar wiring and host-managed plugin updates | Shipped entries record command honesty and verified package-update staging/rollback |
| 2026-07-24 | 0.2.0, 0.1.0; Sparkle integration | Tag dates and separate Sparkle shipped entry; tag presence alone does not establish a joint-platform release |
