Money Tracker 2 Last updated: April 13, 2026

Overview

Money Tracker 2 is a personal finance tracking app. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Local Data Storage

All financial data you enter — including transactions, categories, accounts, budgets, tags, and settings — is stored exclusively on your device using a local database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it.

We do not collect:

  • Financial data (transactions, account balances, budgets, categories)
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers
  • Cookies or tracking technologies

Optional Backend Account

To use the bank linking feature (Plaid integration), you may optionally create a Money Tracker account. This requires providing an email address and password. If you create an account, the following is stored on our server:

  • Email address — used for authentication
  • Password — stored as a one-way hash (bcrypt); we cannot read your password
  • Encrypted Plaid access tokens — one per linked bank institution, encrypted with AES-256-GCM
  • Sync cursor — a bookmark for fetching new transactions from Plaid
  • Subscription status — whether your Pro subscription is active and when it expires

We do not store on our server:

  • Your bank login credentials
  • Account balances
  • Transaction history
  • Categories, budgets, tags, or any personal financial data

All financial data remains on your device only. You can delete your backend account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes all server-side data including encrypted Plaid tokens.

Plaid Direct Mode

As an alternative to using our server, you may provide your own Plaid API credentials. These credentials are stored securely on your device using the iOS Keychain and are never transmitted to our servers.

Data Export and Import

The app provides an export feature that allows you to save your data as a ZIP file containing CSV files. This file is created locally on your device and shared only through the method you choose (e.g., AirDrop, email, Files app). We have no access to exported files.

Third-Party Services

  • Plaid — If you link bank accounts, Plaid processes the connection to your financial institution. Plaid's privacy policy governs how they handle your banking data. Visit plaid.com/legal for details.
  • Apple App Store — Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. Apple's privacy policy governs how payment information is handled. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Money Tracker 2 does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since the app stores all data locally and the optional account feature requires minimal information, it is safe for all ages.

Data Deletion

You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app or using the import feature to overwrite your data. If you have a backend account, you can delete it from Settings → Money Tracker Account → Delete Account, which permanently removes all server-side data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
