FAQ

How do I back up my data?

Go to Settings > Export Data. This saves all your data as a ZIP file containing CSV files that you can store anywhere.

How do I transfer data to a new device?

Export your data on the old device, transfer the ZIP file (via AirDrop, email, etc.), then open the app on the new device and go to Settings > Import Data.

I accidentally deleted a transaction. Can I undo it?

Deleted transactions cannot be recovered unless you have a previously exported backup. We recommend exporting your data regularly.

Does the app sync across devices?

No. All data is stored locally on your device. Use the export/import feature to move data between devices.

What is the difference between Casual and Pro?

Casual (free) gives you a simple overview with emoji categories and one-tap transaction logging. Pro (subscription) unlocks customizable navigation tabs, budgets, tags, auto-categorization rules, full category hierarchy, and bank account linking via Plaid.

How do I link my bank accounts?

Bank linking requires a Pro subscription. You have two options:

  1. Backend mode: Create a Money Tracker account in Settings > Money Tracker Account, then tap Link Bank Account on the Accounts page.
  2. Direct mode: Enter your own Plaid API credentials in Settings > Plaid API (Direct Mode), then link from the Accounts page.

What data is stored on your server?

Only if you create a backend account: your email, a hashed password, encrypted Plaid access tokens, and subscription status. Your transactions, categories, budgets, and all other financial data stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete my backend account?

Go to Settings > Money Tracker Account > Delete Account. This permanently removes all server-side data including encrypted Plaid tokens.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete the app from your device. All local data is stored on-device and will be permanently removed. If you have a backend account, delete it first from Settings.
