What AxM Jamf Sync does

AxM Jamf Sync bridges two Apple enterprise systems that don't talk to each other by default:

  • Apple Business Manager (ABM) or Apple School Manager (ASM) — the authoritative source for device ownership, purchase source, and AppleCare coverage
  • Jamf Pro — the MDM that manages the same devices day-to-day but has no direct feed for warranty data

The app runs a four-step sync: downloads device records from both platforms, matches them by serial number, fetches AppleCare coverage from Apple's API, and writes the warranty data back to Jamf Pro automatically.

Everything runs on your Mac. No cloud relay, no third-party server.

What's new in v3.0

Command-line mode — run a full sync, including writing back to Jamf Pro, with no UI at all: AxM Jamf Sync --silent, for launchd/cron/scripting. Ships with a ready-to-edit sample LaunchAgent, its own --help, and log lines tagged [GUI]/[CLI] so you can tell which one wrote what. See Command-Line Mode.

Update checker — the app checks GitHub for newer releases (daily, or on demand from Settings or the app menu) and lets you know in the menu bar. It never downloads or installs anything on its own.

Reliability fixes — a background sync no longer fails outright just because Jamf isn't configured (it now simply leaves those devices pending); reopening the app while a command-line sync is running can no longer silently kill that sync; saving new Jamf credentials no longer starts a background sync on its own.

Sidebar & Setup polish — an environment shows when a command-line sync is running for it, and blocks renaming, deleting, or editing its credentials until that finishes; every environment's ID is one right-click away to copy.

What's new in v2.5

Richer dashboards — new MDM Migration Status, MDM Cert Expiring, and Hardware (Apple Silicon/Intel + RAM) cards; macOS and iOS version cards now show "Current (N) / N-1 / N-2" currency at a glance; Coverage Distribution's legend rows are tappable with percentages, on all three focus modes.

More AxM device data — Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Ethernet MAC address, IMEI, MEID, EID, and the full MDM migration capability/status/deadline set are now structured fields, available as CSV export columns.

Reliability fix — a Core Data migration bug that could block the app from opening its device database on launch is fixed at the root; no data was ever at risk, and every future schema change now carries a guaranteed migration path.

Safer diagnostics — Help → Export Diagnostics… now masks every device serial number in the bundled logs with a consistent <device N> placeholder, so a diagnostics zip can be shared for troubleshooting without exposing your device inventory.

What's new in v2.4

Dashboard Focus Modes — the Dashboard is now three views (Default / Apple / Jamf Pro), each with its own facet filters, drill-downs, and new chart types.

Setup, Sync, Devices, Export, Sidebar polish — credentials auto-save (no more "Save to Keychain" checkbox), a redesigned Last Run Summary and a friendlier log pane, wider device search plus multi-select and "Open in Jamf Pro", three new export presets with reorderable columns, and inline environment rename.

Data integrity & security — cached tokens are now identity-scoped, Jamf write-back re-validates its device mapping after a connection change, sync runs report one of four honest outcomes instead of always looking like success, and environment deletion no longer races a live writer.

New: Help → Export Diagnostics… — a redacted zip of app/environment metadata, settings, and logs for bug reports.

What's new in v2.3

Automatic Sync Scheduling — turn on Automatically Sync in Settings (⌘,) → Schedule and AxM Jamf Sync runs syncs for you, on a schedule you set.

  • A friendly schedule builder — Repeat Every Minute(s), Hour(s), Day(s), Week(s), or Month(s) — no cron knowledge needed
  • Day(s) and Week(s) support multiple times a day (e.g. 8:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 8:00 PM)
  • An Advanced section for typing a raw cron expression directly, for anyone who wants full control
  • A live, green-highlighted summary always shows exactly what's scheduled in plain English
  • A Next Sync badge in the header bar shows a live countdown, and doubles as a shortcut into Settings
  • The menu bar icon now shows the app's own icon, with Sync All Now, Next Sync, and Last Sync visible at a glance
  • Turning on scheduling offers to enable Launch at Login so runs continue after you quit
  • A new Show in Dock toggle (General tab) lets the app run menu bar–only if you prefer
  • Quitting while a schedule is active now warns you first
  • New notifications: Scheduled Sync Starting when a run begins, and Scheduled Sync Complete once every environment in that run has finished

What's new in v2.2

Serial Sync Queue — all syncs now run through a single serial queue, preventing parallel Apple API calls across environments.

  • Sync All button in the sidebar header — select environments from a checklist and add them to the queue in one step
  • Run Sync on any environment enqueues rather than triggering immediately — if another sync is running it waits its turn automatically
  • While an environment is waiting, its Run Sync button shows In Queue
  • A progress banner in the header shows which environment is syncing and how many remain
  • Stop & Save stops the current sync and saves progress; the queue advances to the next environment
  • Cancel All clears the entire queue — both actions show a confirmation dialog
  • Browse Dashboard, Devices, and Export freely on any environment while the queue runs

What's new in v2.1

MDM Server Visibility — devices now show which MDM server they're assigned to in the device list, detail panel, and dashboard. Devices in AxM but not enrolled in any MDM server are marked Unassigned. Filter, export, and browse by MDM server assignment.

Scope auto-detection — environment account type (ABM/ASM) is now set automatically from credentials. The New Environment sheet no longer asks you to choose upfront.

AppleCare date format — coverage dates in the device detail now follow your regional format from System Settings → General → Language & Region.

Bug fixes — Force Refresh Coverage now correctly respects Sync Device Types; environment scope mismatches are auto-corrected on launch; credential data no longer appears in error logs.

What's new in v2.0

Multi-Environment support — create isolated environments for different clients or tenants, each with its own ABM/ASM credentials, Jamf Pro server, device cache, and log file. Switch instantly from the sidebar. Existing v1 data migrates automatically.

New Jamf fields — PO Number, PO Date, and Vendor (with purchaseSourceId) are now written to Jamf purchasing records.

External change detection — if warranty or purchasing fields are edited in Jamf after a sync, the next run detects and restores them automatically.

Sync Device Types — choose Mac + Mobile, Mac Only, or Mobile Only per environment.
