GenderBreadPerson Fuzzy adds 5 child objects to Contact.

  • Gender Identity: The gender you identify yourself as internally.
  • Gender Expression:The gender you dispaly to the world (external).
  • Sexual Attraction:The kinds of people you are sexually attracted to.
  • Romantic Attraction: The kinds of people you are romantically attracted to
  • Biological Sexuality: Your biological sexuality.

All the child objects have the same fields. Here Contact Biological Sex is used as an example.

  • The "effective date" of the setting defaults to today's date.
  • The "default" check box governs whether or not this setting is used as the default setting in the parent contact record. If you check this checkbox the setting will automatically be copied (by a trigger) into the appropriate field in the child record.
  • The "active" check box tells whether or not this setting is active. This checkbox defaults to true when the record is created. When settings are no longer appropriate uncheck this checkbox rather than deleting the record. This allows you to retain information about what WAS true in the past (often as valuable as information about what IS true now).
  • The "setting" picklist allows you to give a weight (from 1 to 10) to the value. For example: Male:8, Female:2 (although there is not need to have the settings total 10). This number tells how significant this value is.
  • The "momentum" picklist allows you to give an indication of which direction you think this vale is moving in (from 5 to -5) If the subject is medically changing their biological sexuality from male to female, then they might have two entries under biological sexuality and the male entry would have a negative momentum, the female a positive one. Values can also have 0 momentum, meaning that you don't they they are changing.
  • The "date deactivated" field is set to today's date when the "active" checkbox is unchecked. (the example image shows this field with data in it, although normally for an "active" record it would be blank).
