Configuration
Nourished is designed to work out of the box with minimal setup. Most players will never need to edit configuration files manually.
💡 Tip: Almost every setting can be changed in-game through Cloth Config.
Open the configuration screen from:
Options → Mod Options → Nourished or Mods → Nourished → Configure
The nutrition HUD is fully customizable.
Press H in-game to enter HUD edit mode.
While editing, you can:
- Drag the HUD anywhere on screen
- Change anchor positions
- Resize the display
- Preview nutrient bars before confirming placement
Hide Healthy Bars Automatically hides nutrient bars once they reach a healthy level. Perfect for reducing screen clutter during normal gameplay.
Show On Change Temporarily reveals nutrient bars whenever eating food changes your nutrition values.
Show Zero Values Controls whether completely empty nutrients remain visible.
Vertical Layout Displays bars vertically instead of horizontally.
Background Opacity Adjusts the transparency of the HUD background.
Nourished tracks six nutritional groups:
| Nutrient | Description |
|---|---|
| 🌾 Grains | Bread, rice, pasta, baked goods |
| 🥦 Vegetables | Crops, greens, vegetables |
| 🥩 Proteins | Meat, fish, eggs, protein-rich foods |
| 🍎 Fruits | Fruit and fruit-based foods |
| 🍬 Sugars | Sweet foods and desserts |
| 🥛 Dairy | Milk, cheese, yogurt, butter |
Maintaining a balanced diet provides passive bonuses while neglecting categories may result in penalties.
Nourished automatically scans installed mods and classifies foods during startup.
Generated data is stored in:
config/nourished/
If classifications appear outdated after updating:
1. Delete
config/nourished/scanner_spec.json
2. Launch Minecraft and load into your world.
3. Run
/nourished invalidatecache
4. Rejoin — leave and rejoin the world to rebuild cached nutrition data.
⚠️ Recommended after updating between 0.2.x beta versions.
Need to fix a food classification immediately? Nourished supports datapack overrides, allowing you to add or adjust nutrient tags without waiting for a mod update.
Food shows incorrect nutrients
- Rebuild scanner data (see above)
- Check for conflicting datapack overrides
- Update to the latest version
- Report the item on GitHub
HUD isn't visible
- Verify HUD is enabled in config
- Check that bars aren't hidden by display threshold settings
- Reset HUD position by pressing H and dragging it back on screen
🍽️ Nourished automatically supports thousands of food items through its runtime classification and recipe inheritance systems, making it compatible with large modpacks without requiring manual setup.
