Effects Reference

Nourished rewards a balanced diet with passive buffs and penalizes neglect with debuffs. Everything runs automatically β€” no potions required.


βš–οΈ How It Works

Effects are checked every 2 seconds based on your current nutrient levels. When a nutrient crosses a threshold, the associated effect kicks in or fades out.

Category What triggers it
🟒 Balance Bonuses All nutrients are high
πŸ”΄ Neglect Penalties A specific nutrient is low
🌿 Raw Food Penalties Eating raw or undercooked food

🟒 Balance Bonuses

When all five nutrients are above 75%, you'll receive:

Effect What it does
❀️ Health Boost I Increases your maximum health
πŸ’š Regeneration I Slowly restores health over time

Both effects last as long as your diet stays balanced.


πŸ”΄ Neglect Penalties

Each nutrient group has its own penalty when it drops below 25%:

🌾 Grains Weakness I
πŸ₯› Dairy None (by default)

Penalties fade as soon as you eat something in that group and your bar recovers past the threshold.


πŸ›Œ Sleep Bonus

If all your nutrients are at 50% or higher when you sleep, you'll wake up with Regeneration I for 30 seconds.


πŸ₯© Raw Food Penalty

Eating raw or undercooked meat will hurt you. The severity depends on how raw the food is.

Tier Effects Duration
🟑 Mild Hunger 30 seconds
🟠 Medium Slowness + Weakness 60 seconds
πŸ”΄ Severe Poison + Nausea + Blindness 60 seconds

A high Proteins nutrient level builds resistance to raw food penalties.

Raw food penalties can be disabled in config under Effects β†’ Enable Raw Food Penalty.

βš™οΈ Customizing Effects

All effects are stored in config/nourished/effects.json and are fully customizable.

You can:

  • Change which vanilla effect is applied
  • Adjust the trigger threshold
  • Change effect duration and amplifier
  • Add entirely new effects tied to any nutrient

Effect rules support multiple trigger types:

Trigger When it fires
below Nutrient is below the threshold
above Nutrient is above the threshold
all_above All nutrients are above the threshold
any_below Any nutrient is below the threshold
between Nutrient is between two thresholds

Edit effects.json directly, or use the in-game Effect Builder under Mod Options β†’ Nourished β†’ Effects.
