Internet Explorer 7 — the 2006 comeback
The browser that finally brought tabs to Explorer. Round glass Back / Forward "pearls", a full-width address bar with the live site favicon, a dedicated Live-Search box, and the command bar on the tab row — Home, Feeds, Print, and working Page and Tools menus. Original toolbar icons throughout, plus a faithful "About Internet Explorer 7" box.
Windows Vista Aero glass
A new title-bar style in Settings ▸ Title bar: a translucent, blurred glass caption with the Aero bevel, glossy caption buttons and the red close. Switch it on for any Windows theme to frame the window in 2007-era glass.
A Vista scrollbar to match
The web view's period scrollbars gain a Windows Vista / 7 "Aero" look — a pale, glossy blue-white gel thumb with slim chevron arrows — lighter and rounder than the XP Luna bar.
Fixes & polish
Tighter Vista glass (a touch less transparent, a stronger frame bevel), a solid backing so new tabs never flash through to the desktop, and a range of theme touch-ups.

You've Got Mail. This release brings the iconic AOL Desktop 4.0 to Reframe — in two flavours.
The AOL Desktop 4.0 theme
A pixel-faithful recreation of the 1998 AOL client wrapped around today's web: the colourful two-row toolbar, the Keyword bar, the running-man throbber and the dial-in animation. Every page floats inside a real MDI child window you can move, resize, minimise and maximise — and several windows can be open at once. Service-only icons (Mail, People, Quotes…) are greyed out, as they'd be before you signed on.

- AOL Desktop 4.0 — the classic Windows look (Win98 window chrome).
- AOL Desktop 4.0 (Mac OS 9) — the Macintosh version, with classic Platinum title bars (close box on the left) and the menus in the real Mac menu bar.
Channels that go somewhere
Click the Channels icon for the channel directory, or its ▼ for a quick drop-down — News, Sports, Travel, Shopping and more, each linking to a fitting modern site. Right-click any channel to edit its link; your choices are remembered.
More polish
- With a window minimised, entering an address opens a new window.
- Navigation arrows light up only when usable; the address bar doubles as the Keyword box.
- Themes are now sorted by year, and every AOL screen has its own About page.

Retro Display Engine v2 — now per site
Set a global colour-depth look, then override any individual site. A page can stay in true colour while everything else drops to 256, 16-bit or 1-bit — the choice sticks per origin and is applied before the page paints, so there's no colour flash. New web-safe 216 mode (the classic Netscape colour cube), and you can flip depth or dithering for the current page right from the Time Machine flyout.
Classic Web Typography
An optional typography layer dresses today's web in period clothing — era-appropriate link colours, dotted focus outlines, beveled form controls, and a classic serif body at the "Full" setting. Pure CSS, injected CSP-safely, with an "era" option that auto-picks from your active theme. Off · Light · Full in Settings.
A slimmer Time Machine
The year flyout is cleaner: the slider's far-right stop is now Today (live) — drag left to travel back, month controls appear only when you do. Separate Today / Time-Travel buttons are gone, quick Retro-Display controls moved in, and dial-up speed labels are shorter (Off · ISDN 64K · 56K · 28.8K).
Hardening & fixes
- Security: remote pages are default-denied camera, mic and other sensitive permissions.
- Copy & paste works in the address bar again; the Edit menu's Cut/Copy/Paste act on the focused field.
- Ad-block toggle now reloads every tab.
- Per-site reduced-colour pages stay Gmail-safe (per-origin CSP).
- Archive timeline no longer pulls in stale data after navigating away.

Fix 68k.news bookmark: use http:// (site is HTTPS-cert-broken) 68k.news presents a TLS certificate that doesn't match its host (ERR_TLS_CERT_ALTNAME_INVALID), so the https:// bookmark dead-ended on Chromium's error page. It is effectively HTTP-only — point the global default bookmark at http://68k.news/, which loads correctly. Bump to 1.8.1.

- Google sign-in works again. Signing in with Google no longer stops at "This browser or app may not be secure." Reframe now presents its Chromium consistently as Chrome (matching client-hint headers plus the
window.chromeruntime real Chrome exposes) and keeps SSO popups as real windows so the login completes.
New
- Default bookmarks in every theme. Weather Channel, RetroMac, Hamsterdance and old.reddit are available out of the box — in the bookmark bar where a theme has one, and always via the Favorites/Bookmarks panel.
- App version in Settings. The version number now shows under Settings → About & legal.

- Modem dial-up recordings now play. The real US/Europe dial-up recordings stayed silent in the packaged app — only the synthesized fallback was audible. They now play correctly (the audio is routed through the Web Audio API, bypassing a Chromium media-pipeline limitation with the app's custom asset scheme).
Everything from 1.7.0 (Camino 2.0 polish, Modem dial-up emulation, bookmark folders, settings layout) is included.

New theme — Camino 2.0. The Mozilla community's Mac-native browser (2009) in
full Aqua: glossy traffic-light controls, the original toolbar icons, the
"hide toolbar" pill, and — because Camino had no in-window menus — File/View/
History/Bookmarks in the real macOS menu bar. Includes an authentic boot splash
and its own "About Camino" page.
Modem dial-up emulation. Turn on the ritual in Settings: the browser boots
"not connected", and the first page of a session waits behind an authentic
dial-up handshake — the classic US recording, a European one, or a synthesized
tone. A status-bar widget shows a modem icon, blinking PWR/CD/TX/RX LEDs and the
current speed (56K / ISDN / 28.8); Escape or a click cancels the dial. Speed
resets to full ("online") each launch.
Bookmark-bar folders. Right-click the bar to make a New Folder, drag pages
into any folder (theme defaults included), and rename or remove any entry.
Settings & tour polish. A more compact Settings dialog, a collapsible
About/legal section, and a guided-tour step for the modem.
macOS builds are signed + notarized. Windows and Linux (AppImage) builds are
attached. Installed copies auto-update.

A crash-fix release that also carries everything from 1.6.0.
Fixed a launch crash. 1.6.0 could fail to start with a “Cannot find module
@ghostery/adblocker-electron-preload” error because the ad-blocker was loaded at
startup and its helper package wasn’t bundled. The blocker is now loaded only when
you actually turn it on, ships its helper package with the app, and fails safe.
If you installed 1.6.0 and it won’t open, install this build over it.

New theme — Netscape Navigator 3.04 Gold (1997 · Windows 95). Rebuilt
pixel-for-pixel: silver Win95 chrome, the ten-button toolbar, the “Location:” bar
with the globe, the Directory quick-links, and the spinning “N” throbber that
animates only while a page loads. Includes its own “About Netscape Navigator” page.
Archive Timeline. Open the flyout to see how often the current page was captured
by the Wayback Machine — year-by-year and month-by-month — and click any bar to jump
to that point in the Web’s history.
Sharing & time-travel polish. The Share button now sits at the top of the flyout;
type a year like 1998:// to jump straight there; and switching years no longer
briefly flashes the old page.
