Now Oats everywhere

The app's internal identity changed from the old codename to Oats. Your notes and settings move over automatically on first launch. Because macOS ties permissions to the app identity, it will ask for microphone, system audio, screen, and calendar access once more. This is a one-time effect of the change.

HUD fixes

• The floating lozenge now adapts natively to what is behind it, so it stays readable over white pages as well as dark ones. No more invisible controls on light backgrounds.
• Collapsing back to the small lozenge no longer flashes a squared-off edge. The morph is anchored so it stays round the whole way.
• The record button sits centered in its pill.

New

• Join & Record: when a calendar event has a Zoom, Meet, Teams, or Webex link, the button on the Home screen becomes Join & Record. One click opens the call and starts the note.
• Reset: Settings now has a clearly marked danger option that erases every note, chat, and the knowledge graph on this Mac. Model connections are kept.
• Faster onboarding: the welcome flow no longer blocks you on permissions. Breeze through it and grant access when you first record. Home shows what is still missing.

Installing

Oats is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple. Open the DMG, drag Oats to Applications, and it opens like any Mac app, no warnings and no right-click dance.

Companion window for calls

• Starting notes from the floating lozenge (or the hotkey) now opens a slim, sidebar-less column docked to the side of your screen, so the note sits next to your call instead of taking over.
• A new toolbar button toggles between the companion column and the full window, both ways, and remembers where your full window was.
• Starting from the lozenge now always lands on the live note screen (it could previously open on the last thing you had selected).
• Multi-monitor: the lozenge, the call-detected card, and the companion column all appear on the screen you are working on, and the lozenge's adaptive glass samples the right display after it moves.
• The ask bar adapts to narrow widths: the input stays wide, and the transport and model controls compress to icons.

Installing

Oats is signed with a Developer ID certificate. Notarization is coming; until then, macOS will warn on first open: right-click Oats.app and choose Open, or allow it under System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Oats 0.2.0 (private preview)

What's new since 0.1.0:

• Call detection: when Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp, FaceTime or a browser call opens the microphone, the floating lozenge expands into a "Call detected" card with a one-tap Take notes button.
• The lozenge now adapts to what is behind it: dark pill with light ink over dark content, light pill with dark ink over white pages.
• The lozenge stays visible while a meeting is recording, even when Oats is frontmost.
• New rich notes editor: working bold, italic, underline and strikethrough, plus font, text size and text color controls.
• Screenshots land inline in the note, full width, with a one-click "Paste it below the image" offer for the text found in them.
• Starting a new meeting always opens a fresh note.
• In-app updates now check this repository's appcast.
