Patch release on 2025.12.0, extending submodule build support
This is a patch release fleshing out more options (mostly in our CMake support) for building pybind11 submodules using PYB11Generator.
v2025.12.0
Adding better support for pybind11 v3 features (plus some general updates).
- Update generated enum bindings to use native_enum
- Better support for new holder types, and how to overide them.
- Updated default holder type to py::smart_holder
- Adding support for creating pybind11 submodules
- CMake and documentation updates
v2025.01.0
This release includes a few feature improvements and updates our pybind11 version.
- PYB11Generator can now optionally generate multiple pybind11 C++ output files for a module to allow parallel compilation
- The provided CMake rule has been updated to account for this new MULTIPLE_FILES option, which is OFF by default.
- For developers there is a new feature that allows PYB11Generator to skip regenerating some C++ files if they are specially annotated. This is a dangerous feature and should only be used by developers trying very specialized changes to the generated pybind11 code.
- The version of pybind11 PYB11Generator is bundled with has been updated to 3.01.
v2.1.0
Minor feature release for PYB11Generator.
- We have added better support for operators, with the option of explicitly providing the implementation (via @PYB11implementation) for operators such as
__mul__,__add__, etc. - In such cases there is also a new decorator (@PYB11operator) that should also be added to to such operator overloads.
- Updated the operator list to reflect Python 3 semantics, particularly with the addition of
__truediv__and__floordiv__rather than the old__div__operation.
