Parley v0.1.20 — unnotarized test beta
Parley v0.1.20
This test beta adds approved Team Sessions, reduces work on the main thread,
and fixes the empty space above Status Center content. It continues the
ad-hoc, unnotarized test-beta channel.
Approved Team Sessions
- An agent can request a Team Session through
parley team request. You
review the folder, allowed vendors, permission profile, pane limit and
provisioning deadline in the native app before granting authority. - The requesting agent can then use
parley team addto create new agent
panes within that approved scope. Members retain their vendor's normal
permission prompts and use the existing attributed Ask and Delegate paths. - The limit counts created panes, including panes later closed or stopped and
panes whose terminal mounting failed after creation. A creation that fails
before a pane is recorded does not consume a slot. Members cannot add panes,
create nested teams or expand the grant. - The deadline limits new pane creation; it does not stop work already running.
Session grants are held in memory and are not restored after quitting. - Stop team panes stops the process generations owned by that session and
remains available after provisioning authority ends. Structured outcomes
distinguish stopped, stopped but not recorded, failed, unknown, already
stopped, and panes skipped because they were restarted or closed. - Status separates historical membership from current running panes. Stop
diagnostics are bounded and disclose truncation; activity records preserve
requester, session and affected-pane attribution. parley team statusnames the requesting pane asrequesterPaneID, keeps
machine timestamps in ISO 8601, and treatsdetailas display text. The
leadtarget still means the person-selected workspace lead.
Responsiveness and Status Center
- Periodic relay and Status Center history requests now run off the main
thread. Unchanged health values no longer trigger unnecessary model updates. - Workspace and permission-profile files are cached between unchanged reads,
while writes and external replacements invalidate the cached document. - Older background results are discarded after explicit actions, so they
cannot restore cleared history, reverse a mark-read or remove a newer
dismissal. Selection follows applied history and companion attention updates
after accepted relay results. - Status Center fills the available window height, removing the large blank
area above its controls.
Upgrade and install
- Quit Parley before replacing the application. Quitting ends live pane
processes and coordination; workspace definitions, layouts and retained
history remain after upgrading. - The shared agent protocol is now v21. Explicitly start agent panes after
upgrading to receive the Team Sessions instructions. A launch stamp records
configuration; it does not prove that a vendor retained the instructions. - Download
Parley-0.1.20-mac-arm64.dmg, replaceParley.appin Applications,
and reopen it from Finder on a supported Apple Silicon Mac. - This test beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. Follow the documented
System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway flow only for files
from this expected GitHub release. Never disable Gatekeeper globally. - This beta does not publish a stable Sparkle appcast or Homebrew cask.

Parley v0.1.19 — unnotarized test beta
Parley v0.1.19
This test beta adds reviewed command runs in new Shell panes, clearer approval
prompts, broader title-bar double-click support, and Status Center history
management. It continues the ad-hoc, unnotarized test-beta channel.
Reviewed command runs
- Agents can propose a noninteractive test command with exact arguments and a
working folder usingparley request-run. Parley shows an editable native
preview and creates a new visible Shell pane after approval. - The approved command runs as you, outside the agent boundary and vendor tool
enforcement. Arguments are passed directly to the executable. Existing Shell
panes never receive agent input. - Per-run approval is the default. Optional Auto-approve this command for this
session applies to the exact arguments, canonical folder and requesting pane
generation. It is off by default, visible and revocable. The command can run
project code that agents change and can access your files and other pane
credentials; exact arguments do not limit which code can execute. - Restarting or moving the requesting pane, changing its folder or policy,
Stop Everything and quit invalidate session trust. Trust is never restored
from saved history. - Captured stdout, stderr and exit status return to the requester with bounded
output. These are command results, not a Parley test verdict. The completed
pane remains an ordinary Shell. - Only one active run is allowed per requester. Native cancellation and late
result recovery retain the owned process and request identity. - New foreground requests open their approval preview when the workbench can
present it. Background requests request Dock attention. A visible
Approval required banner keeps deferred requests easy to find without
interrupting an existing dialog or repeatedly reopening a dismissed preview. - Ghostty checks that cannot run inside an agent boundary now explain that they
require a human Shell pane, rather than opening repeated failed terminals.
Window and appearance fixes
- Double-click the blank native title bar or the wide blank toolbar area to
apply the system title-bar action. Minimize and Do Nothing are respected;
Fill uses standard window zoom. - Toolbar controls and terminal content retain their existing interactions.
- Selected pane headers use the correct native background in light mode.
History management
- Status Center has a visible Clear history… button following the selected
workspace scope, including All Workspaces. - The confirmation names the scope. Clearing removes finished handoff records,
their returned or captured results, and recorded activity, including hidden
or dismissed records. All Workspaces includes history for removed workspaces. - Active handoffs and command workers remain. Late command output cannot
recreate a cleared history record, and retry protection remains intact. - History → Manage history… brings together search, a Command runs
filter, retention controls, and export of selected records or the loaded scope.
Retention applies the same 100, 250 or 500-record limit separately to handoffs
and activity across workspaces. Lowering it requires confirmation. - Clearing and retention affect only the current local Production or Development
runtime; they do not stop running panes.
Upgrade and install
- Quit Parley before replacing the application. Quitting ends live pane
processes and the app-resident coordination core; workspace definitions,
layouts and retained collaboration history remain after upgrading. - The shared protocol is now v19. Explicitly start your agent panes after
upgrading to receive the reviewed command-run instructions. Launch stamps
remain configuration evidence, not proof that a vendor retained instructions. - Download
Parley-0.1.19-mac-arm64.dmg, replaceParley.appin Applications,
and reopen it from Finder on a supported Apple Silicon Mac. - This test beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. Use the documented

v0.1.18...v0.1.19
Parley v0.1.18 — unnotarized test beta
Parley v0.1.18
This test beta adds recoverable agent instructions across projects, SwiftPM
compatibility for agent panes, and stable selection throughout the toolbar
menus. It continues the ad-hoc, unnotarized test-beta channel.
Agent awareness across projects
parley help(also--helpand-h) shows the complete command index,
including reviewed context, delegation progress and result files.parley protocolrecovers the canonical instructions and explains which
features require the native UI. Both reference commands work locally
without a running broker.- Agent panes receive an absolute
PARLEY_COMMANDfallback for shells that
rebuild PATH. Handoffs include instruction-recovery guidance and the actual
progress and result-file limits. Vendor tool approvals still apply. - The shared protocol is now v18. Launch stamps describe configured
instructions, not proof that a model retained them. Agy's automatic loading
from an added directory remains unverified; useparley protocolas a manual
reminder when needed. - This repository now provides
CLAUDE.mdas a link to its existing engineering
guide. Parley does not overwrite instruction files in other projects.
Swift package builds in agent panes
- Add Settings > General > Swift package builds > Enable SwiftPM compatibility
for new agent panes, off by default. Enable it once, then explicitly start
or restart the agent panes that need it. - When enabled, SwiftPM build, test, run and package commands omit SwiftPM's
additional subprocess sandbox to avoid the nested macOS sandbox conflict.
Project and dependency manifests and plugins use the agent's existing
permissions, including any permitted network access. Parley's outer boundary
and vendor tool approvals remain active. - The runtime-local wrapper preserves the PATH-selected Swift toolchain,
including mise. Human Shell panes retain normal SwiftPM behavior. No global
Swift installation or shell configuration changes are required. - The repository's native runner honors the same explicit opt-in for
npm testandnpm run build.
Stable toolbar menus
- Ask, Review, Context, Recipes and Return retain their menu items and button
state while open, so live updates do not reset highlighted choices. - Nested choices, compact Actions and Waiting use the same behavior. Labels,
availability and actions refresh after closing and on the next opening. - Existing handoff previews, target validation and permission controls remain
in place. The original Pane menu keeps its existing stability fix.
Upgrade and install
- Quit Parley before replacing the application. Quitting ends live pane
processes and the app-resident coordination core; workspace definitions,
layouts and collaboration history remain available after the upgrade. - After installing the new build, explicitly start your agent panes to receive
protocol v18. An application upgrade recreates agent panes as stopped
placeholders rather than claiming their vendor sessions survived. - Download
Parley-0.1.18-mac-arm64.dmg, replaceParley.appin Applications,
and reopen it from Finder on a supported Apple Silicon Mac. - This test beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. Use the documented

v0.1.17...v0.1.18
Parley v0.1.17 — unnotarized test beta
Parley v0.1.17
This test beta fixes the flickering Pane menu and addresses the joint code
review findings across coordination, terminal lifetime, process boundaries
and the VS Code companion. It keeps the same ad-hoc, unnotarized trust model
as the preceding test beta.
Pane menu
- The Pane menu retains one native AppKit item tree while it is open. Terminal
and coordination updates no longer replace highlighted items or submenus
beneath the pointer. - Shell, Claude, Codex, Agy and Copilot retain all split and folder choices.
The next opening picks up current folder options. - A real menu-tracking regression covers background refreshes, wide/compact
toolbar changes and all 30 pane, split and folder combinations.
Coordination and terminal lifetime
- Fast answers and cancellation during Ask submission remain terminal. Late
delivery callbacks cannot resurrect completed or cancelled handoffs. - Stopped or exited source and target panes end their tracked work; a temporary
view detachment alone does not count as process death. - Exited panes keep their retained final output accessible after workspace
switches and UI remounts. - A per-process session identity prevents persisted PID reuse from treating
agents from an earlier application launch as live. - Human review changes are durably saved before success is reported. A failed
history write preserves the previous revision and appears in Status Center.
Vendor adapters and process boundaries
- Agent boundaries protect both Production and Development control and
transport directories and deny access to the native control sockets. - Shell and development launches strip inherited pane authority and managed
runtime paths so a child launch does not inherit another pane's identity. - Generated Claude, Codex and Copilot lifecycle hooks discard input/output and
report no blocking exit status when coordination is unavailable. - Claude's Default permission profile uses the canonical CLI permission-mode
value for compatibility with older installations. - Copilot handoffs require Confirm Copilot Folder Trust… in the pane menu
after the person resolves Copilot's own folder-trust prompt. The confirmation
is bound to that launch and folder, resets on lifecycle changes, and cannot
be granted by a hook. It does not grant any vendor permission.
Reviewed context and VS Code companion
- Native pane IDs are accepted consistently by external navigation and the
companion's collaboration views. - File-save updates match both the canonical folder and relative filename.
A save in another folder no longer changes the wrong Context Basket entry. - An accepted preview removes only the basket entries actually submitted;
additions or replacements made while review is pending remain in the basket. - Selected Git filenames are treated literally, including names containing
brackets or pathspec syntax. Truncated Git snapshots no longer overstate
the lower bound on changed paths. - The included VS Code companion is version 0.1.1. Install the new VSIX to get
the companion fixes.
Upgrade and install
- Quit Parley before replacing the application. Quitting ends live pane
processes and the app-resident coordination core; workspace definitions,
layouts and collaboration history remain available after the upgrade. - The shared agent protocol is now v16. Older live panes show a protocol restart
requirement; an application upgrade recreates agent panes as stopped
placeholders. - Download
Parley-0.1.17-mac-arm64.dmg, replaceParley.appin Applications,
and reopen it from Finder on a supported Apple Silicon Mac. - This test beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. Use the documented

v0.1.16...v0.1.17
Parley v0.1.16 — unnotarized test beta
Parley v0.1.16
This test beta supersedes v0.1.15 and keeps the same explicit ad-hoc,
unnotarized trust model. The whole delta is one change set: a supervised
cross-vendor delegation review loop built on the existing handoffs, Status
Center and reviewed Context Packs, with no new workflow model, window or
store.
Delegation visibility
- Shows owned facts for each active or recently returned delegation: time
since the recorded delivery, the age of the latest agent-declared progress
note with its bounded text, and the age of the target pane's last
authenticated hook signal. - States No explicit update for 10 minutes as information once neither a
progress note nor a hook signal has arrived in that window. Nothing is
inferred from silence, and no estimate, readiness or completion is shown. - The default Delegate recipe asks the target to post milestone progress and
to return substantial results withparley done current --file <path>.
Linked Request Changes
- Adds a native Request Changes action on a returned Delegate result and
the lead-pane formparley delegate <target> --parent <handoff-id>. Each
creates exactly one linked Delegate child recorded with relationship
requestChanges; it is never a verdict, and human verdicts remain
native-only. - A pane credential may name only a parent it initiated or received; the
parent must be a Delegate with a returned result; ordinary target
resolution and busy refusal apply, and a linked child is never queued. - Status Center renders the thread Delegation → Result → Request changes →
Revised result from owned receipts, and the Markdown export preserves the
same thread and linked children.
Bounded Git facts per delegation
- Records a path-only snapshot of the target pane's working folder at
delegation and again at done or fail: the HEAD revision, the branch or
detached state, and a sorted list of dirty paths capped at 200, read with
one fixedgit statusargv. No file contents, diffs or authorship are read. - Shows N paths changed since delegated as the difference between the two
dirty-path lists, calls out HEAD movement and truncation, and labels it
shared worktree: not attribution because other panes and the person edit
the same tree. Nothing here says who changed a file. - A non-Git folder records nothing. A missing folder, unreadable repository
or timed-out read is informational only and never changes a delegation's
outcome. Capture runs outside the coordination lock, and a delegation
cancelled during capture is never submitted. - Paths are shown with control and format characters visibly escaped in
Status Center and the export; raw paths stay exact for comparison.
Completion evidence in done --file
- Documents one plain Markdown template with the headings Implemented,
Tested (each command and its claimed outcome) and Unable to test
(with the reason), in the engineering guide and the in-app help. - Status Center renders those headings, in any order, as one COMPLETION
EVIDENCE block labelled AGENT-DECLARED, reading only the exact file the
target returned. Unknown headings are ignored, the first duplicate wins, and
a file without the headings renders exactly as before. - Every section is shown as an unchecked claim. Parley runs no command and
verifies nothing automatically.
Review and correct recipe
- Adds one built-in lead recipe, Review and correct, as an editable prompt
template and nothing more. It guides the lead through Delegate → milestone
Progress → returned Result → review by a different vendor → linked Request
Changes → independent verification, and asks the implementer for the
completion-evidence headings. - The recipe requires at least two explicit non-lead target panes from
different vendors and refuses a single target or a same-vendor-only
selection before anything is sent. Ordinary Delegate and Compare targeting
is unchanged. - Locally edited recipes are preserved: a valid v0.1.15 four-recipe preference
file migrates additively to the new format, keeping every edit and adding
only the new recipe.
Upgrade notes
- Quit Parley before replacing the existing application. Quitting ends its live
pane processes and app-resident coordination core. - Workspace definitions, folder attachments, layouts, recipe edits and
collaboration history remain compatible. - The shared agent protocol is v15. Existing v14 panes must restart before
using the linked--parentform; Parley shows them as needing a protocol
restart, and a full application upgrade naturally recreates agent panes as
stopped placeholders.
Install and trust
- Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.
- At least one supported, installed and signed-in vendor CLI.
- Download
Parley-0.1.16-mac-arm64.dmg, quit Parley, replaceParley.app
in Applications, and reopen it from Finder. - This test beta is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized. After first trying to
open it, use System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway only when
the files came from this expected GitHub release. Never disable Gatekeeper. - Automatic replacement and the Homebrew cask are intentionally unavailable
for this test beta.

v0.1.15...v0.1.16
Parley v0.1.15 — unnotarized test beta
Parley v0.1.15
This test beta supersedes v0.1.14, which could not launch because macOS
hardened-runtime library validation rejected its ad-hoc-signed Sparkle
framework. The corrected beta keeps its explicit ad-hoc, unnotarized trust
model without enabling hardened runtime. Developer ID releases remain
hardened.
The release gate now launches the final packaged application on a clean macOS
runner and requires it to remain alive past dynamic library loading. Static
bundle and codesign verification remain in place, but can no longer be the
only evidence that an embedded framework is loadable.
Cross-vendor coordination
- Adds authenticated
whoami, pane discovery and bounded coordination events
without exposing terminal text, prompts, results, folders or credentials. - Adds official per-launch vendor hook adapters where the vendor CLI supports
them. Unsupported state remains visibly Unknown. - Adds recoverable Ask ids, bounded agent-declared delegation progress and
reviewed substantial results throughparley done --file. - Adds Challenge and Verify review actions, person-owned verdicts and linked
handoff lineage without introducing a second workflow model. - Adds Command-Shift-A for reviewed delivery of the active Ghostty selection
and Command-Shift-J for exact-pane attention navigation.
Workbench and visibility
- Adds the native Task Manager with bounded pane-owned process, CPU, memory and
listening-port attribution. - Adds concise workspace facts for pane folders, Git state, ports, roles,
profiles and authoritative attention. - Reworks Status Center around Live, Results, History, Agents and Health.
- Consolidates stacked banners into one prioritized notice lane while keeping
every permission, failure, stale-protocol and shared-worktree fact reachable. - Simplifies pane rows and collaboration chrome, increases text legibility and
uses semantic colors consistently. - Replaces several picker alerts with native selection sheets and adds a
growing reviewed composer with an explicit size limit. - Adds a shared Terminal Appearance panel with explicit Parley overrides and an
allowlisted import of Ghostty fonts, themes, palettes and colors.
Workspace and companion improvements
- Completes folderless and multi-folder workspace behavior while preserving
pane-local working directories and permission review. - Expands the VS Code companion with capability negotiation, explicit context
composition, an in-memory Context Basket, content-free collaboration status,
recovery guidance and correlated native preview acknowledgement. - Removes the unreleased Research Board and separate Handoff Chains surfaces;
their useful review and evidence capabilities now use ordinary handoffs,
Status Center, Context Packs and Workspace Briefs.
Upgrade notes
- Quit Parley before replacing the existing application. Quitting ends its live
pane processes and app-resident coordination core. - Workspace definitions, folder attachments, layouts and collaboration history
remain compatible. - The shared agent protocol is v14. Existing panes from v0.1.13 must restart
before using the new coordination commands; a full application upgrade
naturally recreates agent panes as stopped placeholders.
Install and trust
- Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later.

Parley v0.1.13 — unnotarized beta
Parley v0.1.13
This beta fixes coordination-core startup when an upgrade encounters a stale
or partially written filesystem relay endpoint from an older run.
Fixed
- Parley no longer fails with a missing
inboxerror when its private relay
transport contains an endpoint whose pane credential has already been
revoked. - Relay startup removes only owner-controlled, capability-named endpoints that
are absent from the current credential store before cleaning live endpoints. - Current pane credentials, retained Ghostty surfaces and terminal processes
remain unchanged during the cleanup. - A native regression check reproduces the exact missing-file failure and
verifies that coordination starts normally after cleanup.
Upgrade notes
- Quit Parley before replacing the existing application. Quitting ends its
live pane processes and app-resident coordination core. - Workspace definitions and local collaboration history remain compatible.
- Agent protocol v9 is unchanged, so existing v9 panes do not require a
protocol restart.

Parley v0.1.12 — unnotarized beta
Parley v0.1.12
This beta fixes Ghostty resource packaging so Parley can start after being
installed on a different Apple Silicon Mac.
Fixed
- Parley no longer relies on an absolute SwiftPM build-machine path when
Ghostty initializes. - Ghostty's library data, terminfo, themes and shell integration are packaged
inParley.app/Contents/Resourcesand resolved from that signed location. - Release builds apply a narrow, temporary resource-resolution overlay to the
officiallibghostty-spmcheckout, compile it, and restore the checkout.
Parley therefore remains pinned to the official wrapper without maintaining
a fork. - Packaging fails closed if the expected upstream wrapper source changes.
- The package contract verifies the complete Ghostty resource bundle before
signing or creating release archives.

Parley v0.1.10 — unnotarized beta
Parley v0.1.10
This beta adds Smart Orchestration: a visible, bounded workflow for moving one
cross-vendor objective through planning, review, implementation and
verification without replacing any vendor CLI or bypassing its approvals.
Smart orchestration
- Supervised mode pauses before every handoff so the person can inspect and
edit the exact plan, critique, implementation instruction and verification
evidence. - Auto mode advances only after an explicit target returns the exact
correlated Parley answer for the current stage. - Every automatic delivery and state transition is attributed as AUTO in
collaboration history, Status Center details, exports and accessibility
descriptions. - The workspace lead, reviewer and verifier are explicit agent panes. Auto
never broadcasts, guesses a target or routes to a shell. - Turning workspace automation Off, a failed handoff or an interrupted target
stops further automatic advancement and leaves the recorded evidence visible.
Human control and recovery
- Both modes stop at Completion Approval. Only the person can inspect the saved
evidence and mark the run complete. - Vendor permission and folder-trust prompts remain owned by the vendor CLI;
Parley never bypasses them or infers completion from terminal text. - Closing the main window keeps an active run alive while Parley remains open.
Full application quit records an unfinished Auto run as interrupted and does
not silently resume it on the next launch. - In-app help, the README and the roadmap now describe the workflow and its
safety boundary.
Upgrade notes
- Workspace definitions, retained panes, credentials and existing
collaboration records remain compatible with v0.1.9. - Agent protocol v9 is unchanged, so panes already carrying v9 do not need a
protocol restart for this release.

Parley v0.1.9
This beta gives Parley a distinctive application icon built around the
product's defining idea: independent panes meeting through one visible,
supervised coordination point.
New application icon
- A new shared roundtable mark replaces the generic opposing-chevron icon.
- Four inward-facing pane segments represent independent participants, while
the cobalt segment identifies the active pane and the central opening keeps
coordination visible. - The graphite, cobalt and warm-white mark remains legible at Dock, Finder and
menu sizes without using text, vendor branding or decorative AI imagery. - The application contains a transparent 1024 px source and a compiled macOS
ICNS with ten native representations from 16 px through 1024 px. - Development and packaged Production builds use the same icon asset.
Upgrade notes
- This release changes application artwork and build identity only. Workspace
definitions, panes, coordination records and terminal behavior are
unchanged. - Agent protocol v9 is unchanged, so panes already carrying v9 do not need a
protocol restart for this release.
