MATLAB Tools for EarthScope
Updated functionality to access the new locations and use the new retrieval methods for data stored by the NSF NGF data archive operated by EarthScope Consortium.
SageFetch - NGF Earthscope Update
Overview
This release modifies the workflow for automatically downloading and processing seismic data from the Earthscope (formerly SAGE, formerly IRIS) seismic data services. The repository provides an object-oriented approach for building web service requests, retrieving waveform data, and bringing seismic traces directly into MATLAB for analysis.
New Features & Fixes
- Changed the base URL used in the retrieval to reflect the new location of the data on NGF's website.
- updated the "saveFiles" flag to allow users to save retrieved files if set to true (before was automatically set to false, but the flag wasn't always obeyed).
Requirements
MATLAB R2019b or newer.
External MiniSEED (rdmseed) and/or SAC (rdsac) parsers available on the MATLAB path.
Internet connectivity to SAGE/IRIS web services.
Notes
The workflow is designed to simplify acquisition of seismic waveform data for research, teaching, and analysis applications within MATLAB.
Documentation includes troubleshooting guidance for data availability, decoding errors, and timestamp interpretation.
v1.0.0
Overview
This release introduces a MATLAB-based workflow for automatically downloading and processing seismic data from the SAGE (formerly IRIS) seismic data services. The repository provides an object-oriented approach for building web service requests, retrieving waveform data, and bringing seismic traces directly into MATLAB for analysis.
New Features
Added automated access to SAGE/IRIS seismic data web services through a configurable MATLAB workflow.
Added support for defining data request parameters in a single table and programmatically generating standards-compliant service URLs.
Added direct retrieval and parsing of seismic waveform data in MiniSEED and SAC formats.
Introduced the sageFetchObj class as the central interface for managing and executing data requests.
Included example scripts demonstrating data retrieval, visualization, and basic seismic data processing workflows in MATLAB.
