Creating and Re‐assigning CHAs for eCHIS Kenya
The CHT now supports having single user accounts supervising multiple places. In this guide, we'll show you how to create a CHA who will manage multiple CHUs on a single account
- First we will click on
+ Addwhich is on the top navigation bar and selectCreate NewunderCommunity Health Unit. You should see the form below. Next fill out the CHA's details

- After filling the CHA's details, we will now begin adding the CHUs that they will supervise. Click on the green
Addbutton shown in the image above and you will be presented with a form for filling the CHUs details. Fill in the details and click on theAddbutton again to save them.

- In this example we've filled out the CHU form twice for the CHUs
CHU OneandCHU Two

- After you're done, click on
Saveto go back to the homepage and you'll find the CHA and the two CHUs we want to create for them. From here you can choose to edit the details for the individual CHUs, remove CHUs if added erroneously added and even add more CHUs by clicking on theAddagain

- If you choose to Add more CHUs to the CHA, you'll be presented with the initial form where you can add more CHUs. In this example we've added another CHU
CHU Three

- After you've confirmed that all the details are correct, click on the upload button to upload the CHA to the instance

- If you check the instance, you'll find that the CHUs are created and all share the same Primary Contact. You can also confirm this after you download the credentials file where you'll find that the CHA's username and password are the same for all three CHUs

Scenario 1: You have a CHA with multiple user accounts for each CHU they supervise but you want the CHA to have one user account for all the CHUs they supervise
Using the previous example, let's assume CHU One, CHU Two and CHU Three had already been created for a CHA and the CHA had 3 user accounts CHA_1 CHA_2 and CHA_3 for each CHU. We now want to have one user account CHA_1 for the three CHUs.
- First click on
Managein the top navigation bar and select "Re-assign Community Health Unit". Next we will fill in the form and selectCHU Twowhich is inMachakos.

- Next we'll click on the
Addbutton which will addCHU Twoto the list below the form, meaning it's ready to be re-assigned

- Next we will repeat the process and add
CHU Threeas well

NB: The CHU whose account will be used to supervise the others should not be added to the list; otherwise, it will be disabled and will not appear in the final merged account User interface
- From here, we need to go to the ECHIS instance to get a URL Link to the
CHA_1account. We can do this by searching for theCHU Oneand clicking on their primary contact, in this caseTest Cha

- Next, copy their URL from the browser and paste it in the user management tool

- Lastly click on the Re-assign button and wait for a green
successmessage to show next to the CHU names. If all is successful,CHU One,CHU TwoandCHU Threeare all supervised byTest Chaon one user account. Click onDoneto go back to the homepage.

- Remember: Log in to the eCHIS instance and confirm that the reassigned CHUS are appearing under the CHA account that the CHUs have been assigned under
