Mission Statement
The Community Team’s mission is to build and support communities in the DC/OS ecosystem, and grow the DC/OS and Apache Mesos user base. We aim to achieve this through evangelizing in the wider cloud-native world, empowering external advocates with fantastic content and useful tools, and helping community members to engage with one another by supporting a broad range of communication platforms.
- Evangelize
- Content Creation
- Engagement
A strong community of informed, empowered users and contributors who can support each other is one of the most important assets an open source community can have. It provides sense of ownership of the project by others in the ecosystem and a healthy feedback loop for product improvements, which helps drive adoption.
- Give presentations and workshops at events
- Listen to and act upon feedback
- Create open source demos to ease onboarding
- Build opportunities for community members to contribute
- Develop personal connections through meeting with current, new, and potential community members, both online and off
- Encourage participation in working groups, Slack and mailing list communities
- Shepard contributors who wish to write a blog post showcasing their work
- Support community members who wish to host their own events
At events the team wants to make a long-lasting impact. This is formalized by doing the following at each event:
- Track impact through statistics, including: total size of event, attendees at our presentation, number of personal contacts made
- Invite community members we meet to submit blog posts about their work
- Share all materials (slides, photos, videos, etc) on dcos.io and via social media so impact of each event can be extended
- Be diligent about following up post-event with contacts made
